  1. =>Cheater...cheater....pumpkin eater!You owed us an arse kickin' I guess. I am just glad Miami played at the JAR first as I would hate to defend Millett against an Akron team with a 3/4's of a years worth or a chip on their shoulders.
  2. =>No. I am looking for sympathy from a Zips player abd/or coach!Clark Kellogg and CBS spend 4 minutes previewing Miami/Akron:
  3. =>Hope the Zippies dun did worn themselves out enuff last nite vs. them Fliers!Miami has played just two teams (5-12 Chi State and 6-7 Cincinnati) with a non-winning record. So, why not have the RedHawks start MAC play @ 10-3 Akron, @ 9-4 Ohio, and then host 10-3 Can't. Oy vey! If Miami comes out of those 3 games 1-2, the RedHawks would be in the hunt in the East.Miami's Schedule So Far: Date Rank W-L Opponent Result RPIR RPI SOSR SOS $$ Nov 13 20 10-3 Xavier W 59-57 8 0.7500 21 0.6667 Nov 22 62 9-3 vs South Alabama (1) W 64-59 9 0.7708 20 0.6944 Nov 23 68 9-3 vs Southern California (1) L 53-57 28 0.6698 18 0.6880 Nov 25 150 8-5 vs Mississippi St (1) W 67-60 11 0.7122 5 0.7089 Nov 28 7 12-1 Dayton L 62-63 29 0.6464 3 0.6885 Dec 1 99 9-4 @ Louisville L 44-47 26 0.6433 3 0.7030 Dec 4 111 6-5 Indiana St W 74-58 37 0.6214 10 0.6565 Dec 15 39 8-3 @ Wright St L 57-58 60 0.5883 7 0.6275 Dec 18 208 3-12 Chicago St W 74-68 64 0.5785 12 0.6002 Dec 20 119 8-5 @ Illinois W 61-58 OT 39 0.6044 10 0.6089 Dec 22 9 12-0 @ Kansas L 54-78 23 0.6167 5 0.6379 ?   4. =>I have always joked that the Miami "Cradle of Coaches" should be renamed Miami "Cradle of Coaches Who Became Famous Somewhere Else."That said, the C of C thing is something any school would be proud of.
  5. =>Weird game last night. I find it fitting that the only score was a defensive score. I would not call it a great game, but it was a hard fought one. D@mn thing of it, I left my seat just once to use the head. It was midway through the 4th quarter and Miami has just punted. Just as I walk out the restroom, I hear the crowd roar. I missed the only score of the game!If any team could have had a game like that, it was Miami. We lead the MAC is scoring defense (23.6ppg, 15.3 in MAC games only), but are 11th in the MAC is scoring offense (19.2ppg, 22.7 in MAC games only). So low scoring games are the norm...but not that low scoring.******Did you all enjoy the Miami infomercial last night? There will be a Cradle of Coaches exam for you all this afternoon. Since I was at the game among the tens of fans in attendance, I was not able to see it. But from what I read on Miamihawktalk.com, it was an ESPN-Miami lovefest. I am glad I Tivo'd it and will watch in tonight (along with the Xavier bball game).******Hopefully Miami will be playing the MACC (need to beat OU or have UB to lose 1 of their last 2). So can y'all wear the Chips out for us?
  6. I have to say I disagree with you on this one --1.) I would take a "tournament" championship over a regular season divisional championship any day of the week. I saw what a regular season championship gets you...jack squat.2.) Miami is solid this year. Xavier may be the "sexier" team, but if they play 10 times, Miami wins at least five. On the court, they're very even. That game was in the 50's, which means to me that Miami imposed their will on Xavier. Vintage Charlie Coles, and a nice win for the MAC.=>My voice is hoarse from last night. Will I have anything for the Zips 2nite?The MAC tourney championship may be more important because, as you unfortunately know from last year, it is the key to the NCAA tourney. However, a regular season title is a bigger accomplishment. That is the true round robin grind. The conference tourney is a silly little event where coaches do not have time to prepare for each opponent and teams have to be concerned about conserving minutes to avoid wearing out in later tourney games. I am more proud of Miami's regular season championship in 2005 than the 2007 MAC tourney title. To me, the regular season champion is the true champion.BTW, at the moment, there is no banner in Millett Hall for the MAC tourney title last year. There is a banner for the 2005 regular season title.I think X is the better team. But the game was not on a neutral court, the crowd was in it, and X took Miami's best shot.

  8. Mollautt, do you think we stand a fighting chance???=>Now be fair. Wauford never coached another game at Miami after that incident. We know when to take out the trash. OTOH, if it was a Marshall coach, he would have been given a pay raise for such open and obvious display of thuggery.
  9. =>Yes you kicked our tails last year, but we were in the midst of a 2-10 season!Per a controversial NCAA ruling that came down yesterday, all games that took place in 2006 do not count. As such, Miami 11 straight seasons with a winning record is still in tact. Hopefully, by the end of tomorrow night, it will be 12.
  10. Are sweaters, dress slacks, and loafers required or can I just wear my sweat top, jeans with holes in both knees and work boots? How much should I tip the valet attendant? Will he even THINK about parking my Chevy? What are the chances of your QB chucking up a prayer and having it answered?Maybe I should just stay home in my trailer, eat cold pizza and beer and watch the game on ESPN ... =>Dress as you would to any cotillion. And why would you tip the valet attendant? You driver should be parking the car.***If it comes down to Daniel Raudabaugh throwing up a prayer to win...well, all I can say is he is one of the top 13 starting QBs in the MAC.
  11. =>In my best Herdiban voice, "So how many of you are coming to Oxford Wednesday night?"Should be great weather...mid-30s and a good chance of rain!From my MAC power ranking spreadsheet: Akron: 23 (23.278 is the number on the spreadsheet) Miami: 28 (27.633)Now that you all eliminated Ohio U. for us, you call all lay down and play dead! But good luck next week vs. CMU tho!
  12. =>I am here to help you all! No need to have broken hearts. Miami never offered Parrish. After getting a verbal from Julian Mavunga, Miami had had expended the only scholarship to give (Tim Pollitz is only senior on the team). Thus, Miami never needed to decide whether to offer Parrish or not. I did see Parrish at the football game. He is one tall and lanky dude.Of note, Miami did get a 2nd verbal a few weeks ago from the Legarza kid in San Francisco. Legarza has agreed to walkon on for one year and get a scholarship starting his sophomore year.

  18. =>Miami has one scholarship to fill as Steve Pogue left the team during Christmas break.
  19. =>I attended the DI-II Ohio North/South Allstar game where Steward and McKnight played. McKnight played well, better actually than in the Ohio/Kentucky game. He his at least one trey.Steward was ever better. He was, IMHO, the best PG on the floor in the game. Very good ballhandler, hit multiple long range bombs, and can penetrate. You all will like him very much.

Bottom Tier (aka “Low Majors”)American EastNortheastIvyBig SouthSouthlandSWACMEACIndependentsNOTES: A. MAJORS:A.1. BIG SIX (aka BCS football leagues aka “the power conferences”): Big Six leagues almost always produce the national champion and at least 3 of the 4 Final Four teams. Big Six is the same six that make up the BCS conferences in football. Virtually all Big Six teams with a .500 record or better get invited into the post-season N.I.T. (regardless of merit). A.2. 2ND TIER: 2nd tier majors are schools that can produce a #1 seed and put a team in the Final Four occasionally. 2nd tier majors rarely win a national title (believe L'ville from the Metro in 1986 and UNLV of the Big West (now a 2nd tier mid-major) in 1990 were last two times it has happened. Note: Big West no longer a 2nd tier major). Not unusual to put at least two teams in the NCAA tourney. Regular season conference champion is usually a lock for an at-large berth. Non-regular season champions often get at-large bids.B. MID-MAJORSB.1. UPPER TIER: Upper tier mid-majors can get an at-large berth if overall regular season champ loses in conference tourney (until 2006 with the MVC, I believe only twice since 1994 has any mid-major (at any level) received an at-large berth without being the regular season champion). Usually seeded between 8 and 13 (#2 Gonzaga in 2004 was a glaring exception). Can make a run in the NCAA tourney, but rarely gets past Sweet 16 (Gonzaga and Can't have made elite 8 in recent years, George Mason in 2006 was first mid-major to make the Final Four since Penn & Indiana St. pulled off it off in 1979). Often get multiple teams in the postseason NIT.B.2. MIDDLE TIER: Middle tier mid-majors usually are seeded between 11-15. Occasionally win a NCAA first round game. At-large bids are rare, but possible.B.3. BOTTOM TIER (aka “Low Majors”): Bottom tier mid-majors are also called "low majors." Schools in this tier are mostly made up of non-scholarship leagues (Ivy, formerly Patriot) or conferences entirely made up of historically black colleges (SWAC, MEAC). The champions of these leagues are usually 8 of the 9 schools that represent seeds 15-16. Some of these leagues have never won an NCAA tourney game (except for possibly the play-in game). Independents are part of this tier as well. Low majors almost never get at-large invites.

  23. =>I was there to watch Nick Winbush who signed with Miami. Alex Kellogg (son of Clark) also played for the Ohio team (he has offers from Miami, Butler, Ohio, Akron, Oakland, Toledo, Providence, and George Washington).McKnight has a sense of humor. Before the opening tipoff, he lined up next to me (I was in the first row) and said, "Fear the Roo!" He turned around, saw me and my group's Miami gear on and smiled. He talked a little friendly smack back and forth about the MAC tourney and he promised he will not let Miami do it again. Here is a link to comments and article regarding the Allstar game:http://www.miamihawktalk.com/discussion/vi...pic.php?t=35074Here is MHT.com profile for Alex Kellogg if interested:http://www.miamihawktalk.com/home/recruits/player/3116/
  24. =>I saw him play last Saturday in the Ohio-Kentucky Allstar game. Although he did not score many points, I thought he looked pretty good against very good competition. Has and nice back to the basketball fade away jumper. Very athletic with a big @ss. Fits the Akron mold of big @ssed players like Wood and Travis.
  25. Steve:I couldn't agree more.Blaming the refs for our lack of free throw shooting ability is wrong.Face it...if we make the foul shots, we win.But we didn't and Miami did.End of story!Congratulations on your win. =>I do not think free throws lost Akron the game.Akron was 16-24 = 66.7%Miami was 13-20 = 65.0%Thus Akron was the better free throw shooting team.******If you argue that if Akron would have shot its normal % things would have been different, then you must also consider Miami's failures last night. Miami for the season is 270-390 = 69.2%. Therefore, Miami was off for the night by 4%.
