I just want to give a shout out to the Zips Media person/team. They have had very little to work with all season but day after day, week after week, they put up posts on twitter and Instagram trying to keep people interested, motivated and engaged. Again a very challenging task given what they have available for content. Great work - Happy Thanksgiving all. Also saw for the first time yesterday Scott Van Pelt commentary called "Bad Beats". Seems like Akron football has several appearances this year and Akron basketball was featured when they lost to Ohio State.

I would not say "highly negative" but more realistic with a negative slant. NWAkron - talk to me on 10/10 after the same game plan produces the same results. BGSU by 14. I hope I am wrong, but without a lot of changes, and the defense being a sieve... GO ZIPS!

We have a slew of guys out including Irons this week. So looks like Gibson will get the start, not sure if Cato is healthy enough to come back yet. Our receivers were really disappointing against OSU and why were we continuing to try to run the ball up the middle. I was very impressed with Hester, undersized but just kept working. If the starting receivers don't want to make plays then start giving the 2nd and 3rd string guys a chance. If we don't pull out a win this week, one of our few chances this year, going to be a long season and I will take BGSU by 14.

Very happy to see Julian in the portal. This player is a typical prima donna - probably the highest percentage of missed practices and workouts on the team. For those of you that were not at the first game - when he threw his tantrum and swore in the faces of the coaching staff using the "F" Bomb. In my opinion Arth and his coaching staff do not punish these players for their lack of respect and discipline. Tired of seeing the kids that try to coast through get any playing time. Bring it to practice, bring it to all workouts - time to get better as a team not have all of these What's In It For Me players being weights around this team and bringing it down.

Hard to recruit decent talent when you are on a 19 game losing streak and went 0-fer last year and very possibly again this year.

I actually thought there was a glimmer of hope after that first half, I was thinking the very cold weather was the x-factor, unfortunately not enough of an x-factor. Not a fan of Gibson at all - makes continual poor decisions and half his passes are shot puts not passes. At least I haven't seen the return of his lay-up pass since week one. This team will not win behind Gibson. Dollard - well that kid has a bright future - glad he is at Akron. Same with Bubba. However, having one offensive force and one defensive force and no help for either is a recipe for disaster. There is no depth anywhere and it shows. #6 and #13 cornerbacks should trade it in for a cheerleading uniform, they are Awful! I bet we have some players on this team that played both ways in high school and could get out there and defend better than those two. Totally embarrassing effort from both and too many penalties. Looking at how poorly BG is playing I am really hoping we can get at least 1 W this year. Dollard needs another tremendous night on 12/5 and the defense need to step it up "HUGE", since that was the word of the night. Lastly, the play calling still sucks. Need to call more than 3 - 5 plays. Please take note of the opponents we are playing and their mix of play calling. My wife knows nothing about football and she was able to anticipate the play calling. Very disturbing.

Sorry Akron Echo but your article also needs to include the missed opportunities and areas for improvement in order to be complete. Based on the sunshine and roses in your article we should have won by 21.

New to the forum but I have to say last nights performance was embarrassing. The play calling looked like mid level high school stuff. They did not even try to use tight ends. While Gibson might show promise, he will not last long injury free with those 1/2 basketball 1/2 football running and jumping passes he was throwing. Not going to have any trouble stopping the run if you don't spread the field and throw a few long balls once in a while. Western Michigan did a great job of mixing it up. Very disappointed in the corners and watching them give up - horrible coverage. Sorry but I expected a lot more from this team.
