  1. Honestly? I'd put it at 15%. The current wave is the direct result of Thanksgiving/Christmas (...it's almost like we can predict these things or something...it's almost like science works if we give it enough time...) and will likely burn through by March and be on the decline in cases. Hopefully the universities can be smart and require masking at all games, and if they were even smarter they'd start requiring proof of vaccination like Playhouse Square does, to limit the potential disruption of a program outbreak. But ultimately it's whatever the players do in their spare time away from the buildings that will dictate the % chance of a program outbreak.
  2. Soooo players do just fall out of the sky onto Zips roster...😆 Maybe that's why Arth sucked so much...he didn't have a net or couldn't catch.
  3. I'm pretty sure the pep band doesn't go to games in December because it's after finals. Finals were last week and grades are due today.
  4. Call me a Homer...but I'm smelling MAC Big-10 Victory 😈
  5. What does the current field look like, I'm having bigtime mandela effect where I swear it's still the ARoo, but then I see the Z on the field in my head because they changed it on the Infocision Sign and the basketball court. My head hurts now...how something you literally see all the time and when forced to remember what it looks like you can't....
  6. I happen to love the ARoo. Maybe not on the Helmets, but I love it as a rotational logo, a patch on the Logo.
  7. *she's* looking right at you 😈
  8. Right!? I always took a weird sense of pride that we had multiple cool logos.
  9. I like ALL of our logos. Use all of them. I miss this one being represented more, because Zippy is unique. As for our on the field Helmets:
  10. Cooper Rush: Undrafted Free Agent QB. Jordan Lynch: FORMER undrafted free agent QB. My argument still stands. Goodluck selling that to a highly recruited transfer QB. I'm not saying there aren't great QBs we can get to come here...but let's not pretend the selling point is that you have a shot at the NFL. Like it's cringeworthy LoLz to think that's the selling point.
  11. Carson Wentz is the exception to the rule. And FCS team that had like what...a decade of success that is vastly superior to any level of success by any MAC team? Like get out of here. Comparing any school in the MAC to South Dakota State is laughably stupid. They clearly benefit form non-existent market competition, and actually have had success making it a prime spot for a talented QB like Carson Wentz to go to. The proof is in the statistics, no the cherry-picked exceptions to the rule. If you're a QB who legitimately thinks you've got a shot at the NFL, you aren't choosing MAC schools. You're choosing to do what Baker Mayfield did; gambling as a walkon somewhere else. The Last MAC QBs were Byron Leftwich and Ben Rothlisberger. Julian Ettlemen switched to WR. Jordan Lynch wasn't even taken in the draft. Like what I said isn't even remotely "controversial". Only like 4-5 QBs in the past 21 years from the MAC have have been taken as QBs in the NFL. And the two that had actual careers were taken in the Early 2000s when I was in middle school.
  12. I'm so happy about this hiring! Like this is the first time in like almost 4-years I've legitimately felt excitement over the Akron Football team. I have low expectations because I've watched how hard it is to dig a perennial loser out of the garbage bin, but goodness I'm looking at how to renew my previously on-hold Alumni tickets. GO ZIPS
  13. We used to shout it at the Zips Soccer games when I was at Akron...WINNING is what makes something catch-on, not because it's based on something else. GO ZIPS
  14. It's not the early 2000s anymore. There's precisely 0 chance a MAC QB has a shot at the NFL other than changing positions. Though why not go for him? However: there are other QBs on other benches that probably stand a better chance of landing.
  15. I will enthusiastically renew my season tickets (which I put on hold three-years ago) if information ends up being true.
  16. As would I. First time I would renew in the past 3-years.
  17. I'll still take that over 0-12, 1-5, 3-9. I'll take "lucked in with win over Ohio" every day of the week.
  18. It's not Arth I would say was irrationally fired.
  19. I'm not sure I agree that they would have fired him, because just as everyone was talking about him being on the hotseat and being fired they extended his contract...and it was the right tradeoff: less-money for the extension. And it was absolutely brilliant. Programs need to start giving coaches more than 2-3 years ... with extreme examples like Tom Arth and Rob Ianello being exceptions to the rule rather than the rule.
  20. I'm watching the Michigan vs. Suckeye game, and the thing that comes to mind is ... this is why you don't fire a coach who is stabilizing your program after a handful of years. If you irrationally fire coaches every 2-3 years you're never going to have any level of success.
  21. Beyond Embarrassing. And this team went toe-to-toe with OSU? OSU must really suck...
  22. How do we lose to Fordham? 😂
  23. Like Akron football already is? Nearly three-decades of nothing but resume padders. Just because someone can talk-the-talk, doesn't mean crap about whether or not it has objective value or not. Perhaps that's why there are so many problems. Too many talkers, almost no provers.
  24. I have a real job where we don't have a high tolerance for bullshit and resume padders, and can smell frauds from a mile away.
  25. "some penchant for marketing and fundraising" that's going to magically bring in the $$$ of people just waiting to be marketed Akron football to? I feel like some of you are living in a bygone era...
