  1. well there's 3 seconds of my life that I will never get back.... It's like playing w/ a man down in soccer. You can have all the talent you want but the odds favor your side running out of gas first. In reality we're seeing what TB can do with the scarce amount of talent we currently have. As our talent base develops so will our ability to control the play of the game for 4 quarters
  2. Time for my friday pick.... I'm going w/ Akronnnnnnn on this one, just not as close. Akron - 42 Big Girls - 32
  3. NOTE: This isn't meant as a flame against OSU, rather a discussion on an emerging pattern I've noticed..... I've largely kept this to myself and away from the OSU fans in my family; but I've long speculated that OSU made a very poor choice when it selected Meyer as HC. I based this premenision on two facts. 1) More often than not top programs will take a risk with questionable players if it positions them to win a championship. See: Billups, Clarett, etc... 2) Meyer was under tremendous pressure to maintain the Florida program. As time passed his gambles started to unravel his control over his program and serious issues were beginnning to emerge before he retired due to health reasons... Putting the whole "He's ticked off every B1G coach with his recruiting style" aside for the moment how is OSU faring so far? Well.... there's this Deadspin - OSU No worries, the USFL will soon fill the void for the non-student athlete's
  4. When I'm in town I always make a pilgrimage to the Street Treats gyro stand and the Lockview (Bilbo's)! Ironcally, I spotted myself in a picture of the "old-days" outside Bierce Library on the wall of Street Treats downtown location!
  5. Absolutey... there's no question our vaunted defense let us down...... wait... what????? Are you insane? Have you been living under a rock? We KNOW this is our weakness, and as far as I'm concerned they did a great job making do with what they have. Will this hold true in 2013 or 2014? No..... but this is 2012 and we have to be realistic here...
  6. You're mistaken.... that's the drummer from "Hansen"!
  7. Bowling Green was the preseason favorite and winner of the last 7 regular season crowns?????
  8. I think the article gets it right. Our performance as so far paints a better outlook for the season. Our stated goal of 2 wins takes all the pressure off the season at this point, and I think the 2012 Zips are already relishing in their role of early season spoilers. In a sense, we;ve become the "trap" game for every opponent. Its no biggie at this point if we lose to the Bobcats... If we pull off the upset, There goes thier season. Till then, bring on the sweaters and Muck *iami. Go Zips! Beat RED!!!
  9. Wow, I was beyond the reach of TV and internet all of saturday. Just checked the box score and WOW!! That's incredible. I don't care that Morgan St. was an FCS team. The zips took 35pt favorite FIU to overtime, and blew out 3pt underdog Morgan St. by 60! I'm not ready to move beyond the rebuilding moniker yet, but I now feel the zips could surprise anyone on any day from here on out.....
  10. I too lazy to link it toight, but I read on the mac board that Phil (my balls of) Steele has the Zips as 21 point favorites... I've got us by 8.... Either way, I'll take the WIN! GO ZIPS!!!!
  11. Not surprising given the BE's loss of Syracuse, Pitt, and WvU. All of their so called big boys are now gone, and they've effectively reformed the old CUSA w/ the likes of Cincy, Loisville, Memphis.... Like they say, "the more things change, the more they stay the same" Acc was wise enough to secure 5 annual football games. For practical purposes, this makes ND an independent INO (In Name Only)....
  12. IMO - Our offense should be up to the task of covering for our current defensive situation. I'm going w/ Akron - 35 Morgan St - 27 Go ZIPS!!!!
  13. Does this mean were outta the Bottom10?
  14. Naturally I'll take a win But seriously, could anyone have predicted this game would be tied at the end of the 4th?
  15. Lets go ZIPS D!
  16. WOOOOOTTTTT!!!!!!
  17. Just tuning in..... WOW this speaks volumes towards the future of the ZIPS!!!
  18. Side note to this discussion: Congrove's game day spreads listed us as 26 point underdogs to UCF, but 35 point underdogs to FIU. We didn't cover UCF, so this one should be interesting. Personally, I think we'll cover if not beat it. FIU - 28 UA - 10
  19. The west stands are ill conceived to begin with. The whole idea of pedestrians walking in front of spectators simply doesn't work. Move them up!
  20. Amen d1S! Down in FL rockin my zips gear! Looking forward to those game updates from my fellow UA brethren! Keep us posted on game stats and atmosphere!
  21. I wonder if TB had a chance to bus the team over to the Rubber Bowl prior to the game? A little reminder of where we came from if you will. Here's to a new start GO ZIPS!!!!
  22. Anyone who shares Porters style of play, recruiting ability, and penchant for supporting academics and the AK rowdies! Porter is leaving some big shoes to fill, but his decision to complete the season says volumes about the man who will be a zip forever! Short of that is Kai Haskivi available?
  23. As a fan of Congrove, I enjoy following their top124 poll throughout the season, and their team by team point spreads. By their numbers, this is going to be an ugly but interesting season. Although I'm not exactly sure how they compute all of their preseason numbers, I appreciate the fact that their predictions continually evolve throughout the season. As it stands now, they have placed us at 1-11, with only two games rated as competitive. This includes a win over Morgan State where we are favored by 2.98, and a loss to UMass by only .58 (which was listed around 5.0 last week). Those margins are basically benign. What troubles me however is the fact that we are a whopping 21.78 point underdog to Fiami in our next closest game. However, if we perform those numbers will change drastically. My only concern is that I've never seen them look so bad so early before, even w/ iCoach. On a personal note, i suspect we are far better than we appear on paper. A 4 win season would be extrordinary until we develop some depth, so I'm going with Bowden on a 2win goal for this season, with anything more serving as icing on the cake.... link http://www.collegefootballpoll.com/analysis_mac_akron.html
  24. I would disagree on that point If we're talking about a new coach without a proven record, then yes. (ala iCoach). However, rebuilding this team is going to be a massive project and TB already has a proven track record. I would think this provides him with a longer grace period before recruits would decide he can't get the job done. Certainly longer than 1 year anyways...
