  1. Yep, I’m sure he was a PWO. Only official offers were St. Francis and Dayton. Don’t know if we gave him the same opportunity, but I doubt it. I more so posted this because I got a kick out of his film.
  2. I don’t know if we recruited this kid, but he just committed to Toledo. I imagine some here have watched him play. Drew Holt from Hoban. If you want a chuckle watch the film starting at 0:18. I laughed, but also felt bad for the poor kid (and his parents) that Holt was mauling. Hudl film here.
  3. I’m guessing DE. They played him all over the place in high school. Did not look like he was always facing the stiffest competition, but the kid is clearly an athlete. Raw with a load of upside. Hudl film here.
  4. Understandably so. Not easy to get excited about a D3 prospect and no staff will have a 100% hit rate. However, if the player has the ability to succeed here, I’m all for it. OL is one of the hardest positions to recruit (especially in the portal). I’d be concerned if we were taking a bunch of D2 and D3 guys, but that isn’t the case.
  5. I’ll give it to this coaching staff, they are scouring every level of football to find some linemen. Hobart is D3 in football.
  6. Amin Mimouni to Delaware.
  7. Unfortunately, the follow through on that has not been up to par in recent years. I’ve been pushing for every committed FBS player to have a rating regardless of school (probably to the point of annoyance). To be honest, many high schools don’t have a single player committing to an FBS school. I do think Rivals is right in giving out a load of 2 stars, especially when you read what their definition of a 2 star should be. On a business level that has since become a detriment since 247 and ON3 give out 3 stars like candy, which boosts their views and mentions. I’ve made it known when I disagree with a rating, but I’m not always right. It’s hard to judge work ethic and how much adversity a player can handle at the college level.
  8. Here’s a link to the Rivals rating formula in case any one is interested.
  9. Really strange. Any chance some type of resentment has built up with those schools and the Akron football program over the years? Not saying it’s happening here, but I have seen high schools blackball coaching staffs before about certain events they felt slighted over. It’s a new staff so I wouldn’t think that would be the case, but IDK.
  10. And with no fanfare it seems Nyeem Wartman is officially the DL coach.
  11. Guessing PWO after watching some of his film.
  12. Yeah, he’s another interesting one. Clearly has the talent to play at a P5. I do wonder which of the other offers still stand. Miss. State, Liberty, and Jackson State had coaching changes. Duke is probably off the table. Who knows what Vanderbilt, MTSU, and Campbell’s boards look like at this point. I’d have to think we are in a great position to land him.
  13. Thanks! Not sure how he slipped my radar. Updated profile with offers here.
  14. Yeah, I’m just going off the prospects they have committed. I’m still working on getting some ranked and even though all their new ratings will probably be 2 stars, it should bump them up in the team rankings some. Heres some junior year film on Messiah Blair. He has the potential to become a monster off the edge. Here’s film on Joe Walker. Not sure if he’ll play WR or S, but either way he’s impressive. Here’s film on CB Daiquan White. He’s a kid we offered, but didn’t land. It’s not just a top heavy class either. For example, they also landed two JUCOs we offered. CB Jaheim Jenkins and Ugo Nosike. I’m not sure if they will be able to pull off 9 wins again though. Despite having a strong recruiting class, they were a veteran team last year and have some holes to fill.
  15. Long time WR commitment who the staff made every attempt to keep in the fold. After his final visit, he posted his “recruitment was 100% open.” Underrated 2 star who may eventually work himself into some minutes at Ole Miss. He would have had an excellent chance at playing time here, but he should do what he deems best for his college career.
  16. Sounds like Lester received a walk-on opportunity at Ole Miss.
  17. Here’s some film of him playing OG. My favorite clips are at the backend starting around the 1:30 mark when he can be seen working in space. One thing is for sure, the athleticism along the offensive line has greatly improved since JRod took over.
  18. Bump for update. A number of these guys have “recruitment 100% open” on their social media and no new offers are coming.
  19. Mimouni received an offer from Tulsa. The further away from his visit we get without a commitment the less I like our chances. Hopefully, we have an answer soon.
  20. First post is updated. If anyone notices some players I missed, let me know.
  21. Probably a little of both. He moves extremely well for someone his size and it’s hard to recruit elite linemen. He fits right in with the size and athleticism of the other OL JRod has recruited. He’s just more raw at this stage.
  22. It blows my mind how both those teams only managed to win 5 games with the amount of talent they had.
  23. I don’t know the ins and outs of all these rosters so if I listed someone who shouldn’t be under key departures for graduation, let me know. I’m just going off a combination of games played and snaps.
  24. Thomas and Lott would be steals in my opinion. Mimouni would fill a need and has a high upside. Not sure if Morris would be OL or DL, but he’s certainly athletic.
  25. Bump for updates.
