No offer that I know of…yet, but since there isn’t much to talk about at the moment I’ll pass this along. Boston College WR Jaelen Gill has hit the portal as a grad transfer. Originally a 4 star from Westerville, Ohio and signed with Ohio State out of high school. He recently retweeted Antonio Smith’s commitment to us. Maybe there is some interest, maybe not. We’ll see.

There’s that catch radius. I hope we get to see it a good bit during the season.

Kabbash received two more offers since his visit. Western Kentucky and Grambling. Not that those are major programs, but the longer this process takes and the more options he has, the less likely we are to land him.

No doubt losing those guys is tough. Although, looking at it from a different perspective, we have much better depth than last year and only Max Banes participated in the 2022 spring game out of those 3. I bring that up because the staff has shown they can bring in competent replacements from the portal. Still, it’s a shame we never got to see Holt at 100% as a Zip. We have a number of “ifs”, but then again so do most teams at this point in the year. Every team on our conference schedule is looking to fill some holes. Fortunately, we just have some holes to fill instead of having to flip half the roster. Agreed. I think both are going to have a big year. Zips are going to surprise alot of people in 2023.

Is it just me or have we seen multiple pics of Johnson and Horton getting beat in coverage? They must’ve said something not nice to the media crew.

Maybe so. Although I hope he makes the most of his opportunity. We don’t know if it was mostly his decision to leave, the staff pushing him out, or a mutual decision. Regardless of WCU’s amenities, it’s certainly better than a JUCO. Fann is another one of those guys with plenty of athletic ability that, unfortunately, couldn’t produce for us.

Hate to hear that. I hope his recovery goes as smoothly as possible. Thanks for the update.

OL Shemar Hobdy-Lee to Houston. And I suspect OL Finn Dirstine will end up at UMASS.

I’m hoping this leads to a commitment soon.

Toledo and Miami have raced out front. I imagine we’ll get our first 2024 commitment soon.

100% agree on all points. Definitely a premium on OL in the portal. Also, it’s unlikely anyone would replace either OT unless it was due to injury. Landers has an insane amount of upside, while Williams is the leader of that group. Chambers came along nicely too. This staff seems to value agility and athleticism more than the previous staff, so certain players that had success under the previous regime may struggle to fulfill the current staff’s requirements.

Following back up on this. We’re probably about to be out of the Grunkemeyer sweepstakes. His recruitment has taken off. Grunkemeyer now holds 22 offers with 2 recent P5 offers from Northwestern and Indiana.
