  1. I was pretty surprised he transferred. Even if Amani looked better over time, it's not like we couldn't use another big on this year's roster. It made me wonder if the coaches didn't feel Baker was as good as they originally thought.
  2. Of the 8 players who averaged at least 15 MPG on last year's Duquesne team, 6 were seniors and are now gone, including their top 2 scorers.
  3. I was thinking this too. I initially thought at the game he was going to miss some time and certainly didn't think he'd be back in that game. That thud was loud when he hit the floor.
  4. I dont think this is fair, personally. Groce, an experienced and winning coach, went 14-18 in his first year at Akron. There's a transitional period for most programs when there's a coaching change. Let's give Dru some time before we insult his credentials.
  5. Seth Wilson is shooting 15.8% (3-19) on 3 pointers. He shot 37.9 and 41.5 respectively his previous two seasons at WVU, so I'm hopeful this is just early season rust while adapting to a new team. Only MMK has played less minutes among rotation players.
  6. It will be interesting to watch the transfers as the season unfolds. So far, it's been mixed results. Okonkwo looks more like a rotational big than a difference maker. Wilson has been really underwhelming and barely played today. Hardman looked the best he has so far today. Same with Gray. Harris looked like our best player in the first two games and hasn't played as well the last 2. It's very early and they need time, so I'm hoping to see them all continue to settle in as the season progresses and they get more. Rebounding/interior defense is going to be a problem against team with any kind of size, which I think may ultimately limit this team's ceiling, but hopefully I'm wrong.
  7. I know I'm screaming into the void and but our gameday experience is worse than some high school games I've been to. Another night with one concession stand open. Very little happening during timeouts. No energy or effort. The only people that will want to come back are us diehards who will be there no matter what. So frustrating...
  8. I think the schedule was fine. There's some good tests and quality opponents mixed in. I also think there's some truth to some teams just not being willing to schedule us. I do think it's interesting that KD was often criticized for nonconference scheduling and it's been about the same under Groce.
  9. I think some have used it as a running gag to make fun at others over a previous disagreement on here. If that wasn't your intent, I apologize. I agree completely. A lot of different paths they could've taken.
  10. I wish they would've done a weekend ticket or a multi-game discount of some kind. Would've been nice to see some creative marketing for this.
  11. I have heard KD will be in an advisory role (and may already be). But I am also skeptical on GVH as AD.
  12. This would seemingly allow Freeman to get back to the wing role they wanted him in originally.
  13. You making this joke and then Akron getting destroyed in the paint the next night was certainly something.
  14. All i have to say is WellDone>WellSaid DoOrDoNot
  15. Yeah, he's not looking good. I hate seeing it - he seems like a great young man and I think part of transferring was trying to get a fresh start and finish his career strong.
  16. It's definitely a much, much different style of basketball than we have been playing. I agree we don't look comfortable yet, and that's led to some really ugly possessions. You just have to hope and believe they'll find it and click at some point. There's definitely a lot of talent on the roster.
  17. Figured I'd share for anyone else curious. Mikal Dawson is averaging 6 PPG in 23 MPG but his shooting numbers are ugly - 5-26 from the field overall and 4-19 from 3. Good kid, hope he can turn it around. Ryan Prather Jr. is playing well early for Robert Morris, starting and leading the team in scoring. He's averaging 13 PPG and shooting a red-hot 67% from deep range. Darrion Baker is averaging 7/2 in 15 MPG for SIU Edwardsville.
  18. Final tally: 55-26 on the boards, 60-18 points in the paint.
  19. I was honestly a bit surprised to see him back this year, especially with Gray and Wilson brought in and knowing Young was going to play right away.
  20. Tavari can't hit a layup to save his life.
  21. Haha I mean I know we are small and getting abused inside. I just didn't realize just how small we were!
  22. Lyles was 0-6 from 3PT range in his collegiate career coming into tonight lol
