Good points. I would definitely love to see the program have anywhere near the success of Gonzaga! I hope we start getting more fans in the JAR. OK crowd for a Tuesday last night but if I can make it down from Cleveland, I would hope more local people can start showing up so we can help get some momentum and more investment behind the program so we can start competing at an even higher level.

That is fair enough, I was mostly just spitballing an idea there. My rationale was that he’s LeBron-adjacent, which could (MAYBE) help with recruiting, plus he’s learning the ropes from KD. I totally agree it would be nice to have a proven coach fall into our laps like with Groce, or try to recruit from a lesser conference. Though, unfortunately with the way the MAC is looking this year, we are starting to look like a lower conference. Hope this trend does not continue.

Just trying to enjoy this season while we’re in it. If we do make the tournament and make big waves, maybe Groce will stay and be able to get even better recruits and transfers. Or, maybe he’ll leave, then maybe we could use the new name recognition to get another good coach. I wonder if Dru Joyce III would be in for a reunion if we offered him the head coach position. Talking out of my behind here, but as others said, we will be rebuilding after this year no matter what happens.

It is also planning on demolishing other buildings and selling off ones that can be salvaged. The article specifically says UA is trying to sell Quaker Square (which is not unexpected). A preservationist is quoted in the article saying that preserving Quaker Square, the Central Hower Auditorium, and the Martin building are his priorities.

These MAC refs are garbage. Is the A10 looking to expand? We would just need to find a new home for the football team. (Mostly joking)

One hurdle besides attracting alumni and the community to these games I’ll add in is the student body. When I was going to UA the student body was almost 30,000 and it’s closer to 15,000 now. It also may be me, but I feel like the students aren’t as into sports either. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of AK Rowdies anymore. The $10 parking is kind of annoying but I’ve just been parking on the street (virtually on-campus) and walking a few minutes. That would be super annoying for less mobile people, though.

However, I just looked up Ben Finley’s instagram account and he already has himself listed as our QB. Not sure why there wasn’t some sort of bigger announcement, but maybe that is coming soon.
