  1. In our dreams. If Ianello ends up back at ND, UA saves big bucks.
  2. Can't cut their turnovers back to "only" 7 in the second half for a total of 23 in the game, while JMU was close behind with 19 turnovers after a bad second half. Can't killed JMU on the boards, 38-24, and in shooting percentage, 52%-33%. For Polar Bear fans, Mark Henniger continues to get less PT for Can't than his former Jackson HS teammate Josh Egner gets for UA, with only 3 minutes on the floor tonight. Final score, 71-51.
  3. I just took a look at the stats, and this is one ugly game. Humpty ended the first half 2-10 from the field, but JMU still has a 3-point lead, 29-26. The most stunning stat is that Can't has 16 turnovers at halftime. SIXTEEN TURNOVERS IN 20 MINUTES!
  4. From early returns, this appears to be shaping up as one of those college basketball seasons when there's an unusual number of teams that can upset much higher-ranked teams and then turn around and lose to much lower-ranked teams. It just has a more wide open feel to it than recent seasons. The Zips appear to be far from alone in their big ups and downs. It's going to be fascinating to see who's hot and who's not at the end of the season.
  5. Your wish is my command. What type of offense do the Zips run?
  6. @hoopster, I second what Doug said. We need more new posters like you with fresh viewpoints. Chemistry has been mentioned in the past about the basketball team. You can find the references by using the forum search feature to search for chemistry. But I don't recall anyone really focusing on it in detail to the extent you have. The example of great chemistry that stands out to me about this year's team is the passing from Tree to Harney where Tree moves toward the basket, draws the defenders and hits the open Harney soaring to the bucket. If all the Zips players were playing like that all the time, they would have beaten more teams the way they beat Mississippi State and Detroit.
  7. I checked in with UA's Erin Horning to see if there was a block of tickets to the CSU game for Zips fans. She said no, but put me in touch with Carrie Neville at CSU. Carrie provided some excellent advice on which sections to sit in to be closest to the Zips bench. Below is a copy of the information that Carrie provided for Zips fans: ------------------------ The comp tickets that the team receives are in 104 directly behind the team bench. I would tell fans to buy seats in 104. They will be mixed in with our season ticket holders and the general public, but that will get them the closest to the bench. If 104 sells out, I would suggest going into 103. This puts you along the baseline, but would still keep you near your bench. All of our lower level sections start with AA. There are 6 rows of double letters (AA-FF) and then it starts over at A. I actually do not like the double letter seats even though you are down low. The sight lines aren’t always the greatest with the team bench, media table, etc. Seat #1 is always on the right hand side of a section when you are sitting down. (All lower level sections have 14 seats in the aisle.) In 103, you definitely want to be in the higher numbered seats. Hopefully that helps. If you have any additional questions, please let me know. Thanks and we will see you Saturday! Carrie Neville Director of Ticketing & Fan Development Cleveland State Athletics CSU Ticket Information
  8. Concerning Gilliam's playing time, KD has a history of giving PT to players who play hard defense. A good offensive player who can average 20 points per game but plays soft defense and gives up 22 ppg to the players he's guarding results in a net 2-point loss for the team. A good defensive player who only averages 10 ppg but holds the opponents he's guarding to 8 ppg results in a net 2-point gain for the team. From what I've seen of Gilliam on offense, he looks to be able to score at a fairly high rate. I haven't watched him that closely on defense, but it's possible that he may not be playing at a level where KD believes his combined offense and defense results in a net gain for the team while he's on the floor. I'll try to watch Gilliam closer on defense over the next few games to get a better idea. In the meantime, maybe someone else can comment on this theory.
  9. @UAZip0510, great work putting all that data together in one place for the rest of us to consider. The early season losses are hard to take when you look at the talent level on the team, but more understandable when you consider the weak points and circumstances. If they make it to the NCAA tournament, I continue to believe that the Zips' current level of individual talent is more capable of actually upsetting higher-ranked teams than previous Zips teams. But they have to use the rest of the season to come together as a team.
  10. @Ada Zip, you make some good, constructive suggestions there that you have seen actually produce results. I really appreciate reading posts like that. Heaven knows, the Zips appear to need a lot of help right now. I don't see why it would be considered taboo to criticize KD or anyone else when you present constructive suggestions that you think would help improve team performance. I usually follow all the away games pretty closely, but was tied up at a family event today. I guess I can consider myself lucky to have missed this one. After traveling to Morgantown and witnessing the WVU slaughter, following today's game would have probably made me crazy. I just took a quick look at the stats, and they were frighteningly awful. Along with the poor scoring and rebounding, the Zips were thoroughly trashed in every statistical category from steals and blocks to turnovers and assists. Remember how great the Zips looked in every aspect of the game for a full 40 minutes against Mississippi State? What in the heck has happened to that team?
  11. Are you feeling any more confident about playing the Zips with each passing VCU win and each passing Zips loss?
  12. @Zipmeister, you forget to account for context. Everyone else is focused on the thread subject. You were the only one focused on another poster. It's reasonable to expect in the context of this thread that your use of "his" was intended to reference my comments about Tree and not comments about me. No one other than you appears to be more interested in me than in Tree. I'm a very poor basketball player. You might want to give some thought to the practice of turning thread focus away from the main subject and onto another poster. I've been told that I've been guilty of that, and that most ZN.o members find the practice annoying and don't appreciate it. So I'm working on changing my style to focus entirely on Zips sports subjects and not other posters. With that in mind, this will be my last post responding to any of your references to me. That will eliminate half of the annoyance to other forums members. If you eliminate your half of the annoyance, other forum members would be twice as pleased.
  13. There are even Fortune 500 companies that will hire people with this kind of background, but normally they are limited to lower level positions. Please cut it out. There is no background. He is not convicted of anything. There is a recent case in NY you might have seen on Youtube. A worker in McDonalds beat the living hell out of two women. The media chose only to show the portion where he was beating them with a metal rod: one got a fractured skull. The good old liberal media *forgot* to show the part where the two female savages jumped over the counter and attacked him! He was arrested and charged with many assault counts. We got word yesterday that the Grand Jury REFUSED TO INDICT HIM FOR ANYTHING, and he was cut loose. The point being, some folks here have him convicted and imprisoned based on what they read in the newspapers. Give it a rest and let the process play out. I beg to differ. If you carefully read his post (I have bolded and underlined the appropriate words) you will see that Dave admits this this type of behavior IS in his background. You don't pay close attention, do you? The only undeniable behavior I've acknowledged is that he was an underage person in a bar at 2 a.m. The rest is all allegation. It's inappropriate for Zips fans to subject a Zips player to a kangaroo court. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black! Please reread everything in this series of posts. PLUS I will rewrite my last post to make it even MORE CLEAR. I beg to differ. If you carefully read his post (I have bolded and underlined the appropriate words) you will see that Dave admits that this type of behavior IS in DAVE's background. You need work on your writing skills, then, as "his" is clearly ambiguous within the context that you used it. In any case, I'm pleased to see that your focus is on me and not Tree. Tree doesn't need the added aggravation of Zips fans getting down on him, and I'm always flattered to receive attention, even if only from the occasional oddball fan.

  15. The optimistic scenario that Tressel and UA publicly denied working on a deal in order to stop public speculation so they could have negotiations in privacy will quietly live on in the shadows until the new head coach is finally announced. Those who believe in this scenario might be best served by not publicly speculating about it, as a key point of the scenario is that public speculation was interferring with the alleged negotiations.
  16. But NBA players make more money than most Fortune 500 excecutives.
  17. There was no "resisting arrest" charge against Tree or anyone else. There was an "obstructing official business" charge against another person, not Tree.
  18. Maybe I just don't know enough about fan boards, etc., but I'm shocked this kind of thing happens. You're not nearly as shocked as I am, because the allegation as stated is not accurate.
  19. Classic he said, she said.
  20. @The Hip Zip, assault can be a serious charge, depending on all the circumstances. In Ohio, felony assault can get you 2-8 years in prison. This was not even close to felony assault. It was charged as misdemeanor assault. In Ohio, the maximum penalty for misdemeanor assault is 6 months in jail, depending on the defendant's prior record and the severity of damages. I don't want to get a ping-pong game going here of "this is serious," "this is not serious." But there are probably thousands of bar fights across America every late Saturday night/early Sunday morning that result in misdemeanor assault charges. When it's not a repeat offender and no one is hurt, most result in a fine and probation. I'd expect that to be the case here. Honestly, I hope we can all just try to understand the facts as they come out, try to put it all in perspective, and not be too obsessed with the fact that a Zips player made a mistake. It was not a good thing to happen, but it was also not as bad as it could have been. I think Tree is going to get a second chance with the team, and I think we should all support him in his efforts to do better. I made similar mistakes as a kid and somehow survived to become a productive and responsible adult who only occasionally gets called out on ZN.o.
  21. I think poor Justin just got caught up in something a lot bigger than he ever imagined it would be. He's basically a young student hoping to graduate from UA in 2013, and holding down a bunch of part-time jobs. Justin Lada LinkedIn
  22. WSU leads 31-25 with 6 minutes left.
  23. Now 24-18 early in the 4th quarter. Offenses starting to run wild.
  24. Now 24-11.
  25. Really heating up. Long TD pass by WSU, and a 21-11 lead. Then a fumble by MD on the kickoff, and WSU has the ball on the MD 38.
