Didn't Miami get Trent Green with a 6th round pick? It also has something to do with who feels they need a quarterback and if the team dealing the quarterback has already played their hand -- a la bringing Dorsey back into the building prior to the trade. Heck Byron Leftwich is a free agent why didn't they go after him?
-
One can only hope the line of questioning at the press conference goes like this:reporter -- Why did you trade Charlie?Savage -- Charlie hasn't gotten any better in the three years he's been here.reporter -- Can you explain to us why Romeo is still coaching this team then? He seems to have not gotten better and you can make the argument he has regressed.Savage --

Did anyone read Bobby's post about going to the Winking Lizard in Fairlawn - everyone including staff was in OSU gear. They support OSU more than the Zips. Screw them!
-
the fasciation with CJ still baffles me! What has CJ done that has made people say Jacq isn't the man. I've watched Jacq in person when he was at Mentor both as a wide receiver (his junior year) and a quarterback and he was impressive in both roles. If you've seen Mentor they run a really complicated offense and he ran it better than anyone since they switched to the offense. The problem is not Jacq -- I'm afraid the problem is directly related to Moorehead and his inability to coach offense. I'm not impressed at all.

Bobby if you were at the Winking Lizard in Fairlawn and the staff was wearing OSU gear there is something really wrong. If you are going to be the official home of Akron Athletics including the Thursday night call in show -- you just can't do that. I hope someone Akron talks to the people at the Lizard.

Is it the offensive players or the offensive play caller -- Moorehead hasn't impressed me one bit -- this look look offense is garbage. I agree with one of the previous posters who said the athletes have to be on the field and if Jackson is such an amazing runner as some of you would have me believe replace Kennedy with him. I'm not sure Kennedy deserves to start at the half back position -- I'm not sure he's a half back as another poster suggested. Very sorry for the defense -- I hope JD lets them watch while the offensive runs wind sprints for an hour for the garbage they brought to Columbus today. This is how the better teams in the MAC win -- they win games like this. Can't actually has a chance to beat them -- lord knows their offense is much better than ours. I'm not going to be surprised to lose to them again this year and that will be a shame. Sad thing about today's game is if we had YSU's offense we may have won this game. They tripled our offensive output.

what's with the love affair with CJ - he was worse than Jacq.

I wish the HD channels were all they were cracked up to be on DISH, but they are terrible -- not to mention the five second delay on the Dish and Direct TV that drives me nuts. HD alone doesn't allow me to leave Time Warner. I've had both and if I didn't have HD I'd still have the Dish or Direct TV.

George Thomas is an OSU grad I would have expected nothing less from him or the ABJ. It's kind of funny the way they say sports writers (not sports story writers) are supposed to be unbiased yet you get drivel like this. Although it appears he's the ABJ's OSU beat writer. What would it cost to give Akron the same coverage as OSU -- I'm sure it wouldn't cost too much.

Butch wanted to work at Akron for years and nobody would hire him -- speed coordinator track coach anything.

Correction -- 7 points -- wow the barley and hops must have really been clouding my thoughts two days later. Still not very impressed with the defenses inability to stop Army on third down. If Army is the worst team in the country -- it doesn't bode well for next week.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this vaunted Akron defense that everyone speaks so highly of gave up 14 points to what some considered the worst football team in the country. The offense with its hurry up and line up then look to the sidelines with 18 seconds on the play clock only scored 16. If it wasn't for the int for a touchdown this game is a nail biter. If I were a betting man I'd take OSU and lay the 30. The only thing that will stop the diff from being that large will be OSU not running it up. Now before you go all "OSU lover" on me -- understand you can talk to anyone who knows me and I am the first one to bash OSU every chance I get. The problem is this Zips team looked far worse to me than anyone else on this board Saturday night. I hope I'm wrong and will say so if I am, but a month of looking at CK's prediction on the front page of this -- I was expecting a lot more. CK I was wondering how you were feeling about your prediction based on what you saw the first game. I'm guessing you can't be too terribly happy. Am I the only realist on this board or was I watching a different game. I can usually rely on GP1 to see the real side of these games, but his review was even up beat. I'm looking forward to seeing what JD does with the team this week and the supposed largest improve teams are supposed to see throughout the year -- week 1 to week 2. All I know is I think the 3-3-5 is a weak system at best and drives me crazy watching it in the stands. Akron's third down conversion rating was 2 of 12 while Army's was 7 of 18 that is just freaking ridiculous. When you are allowing that many third conversions I find it quite difficult to praise the defense the way most at the game have.

I would guess $15 for any ticket in the building would be much better than $15 for the endzone. We moved to the 40 yard line south side of the stadium at half time with no hassle. We were in the log behind the court house directly to your left when you come through the entrance. When it was all said and done we had 15 or 16 people tailgating with us. We got there around 4 p.m. Shouldn't be a problem to find everyone at the home games -- unfortunately for me I coach 9 and 10 year olds and we play Saturday afternoon -- the noon kick-off for the Can't game takes me out of the game. So I won't see any of you until October.
-
I'll be behind the courthouse and parking shouldn't be too bad each event is happening in areas that shouldn't conflict with each other - nobody is parking by the stadium for the ball game and the muni lot will be full for the air show, but will empty out in time for those not tailgating to get to the game and park. I've got about 10 people tailgating with me and others joining.
-
The Muny Lot will be full of airshow attendees who will be sitting across the street in the bleachers for the air show -- if by action you are referring to a lot of empty cars -- then I think it'll be a great place to tailgate. My comments about the Courthouse are in the thread previous. With the Akron buffet tailgate happening in Mall C it will be near enough to visit and see what's going on.

Goddammit. If a man wants to call himself Muhammed Ali, I say Muhammed Ali.Mama call him Clay - I call him Clay. Cassius Clay.

For what it's worth aren't both guys CJ?

Did you miss the ode to Owens in the article? Not necessary -- the article would have been fine without it.

I too found the student from Findlay as a source interesting. It is soon just going to be the City of Akron University. WTF?Help me understand why a student who foresake the school in his hometown to go to another school in a town that would hardly exist with out the school. As for losing $400 million in revenue from the hotel -- c'mon Don what are you smoking? If the hotel was making money for the owners there is no way they would have sold the hotel at all. This is kind of how the world works -- it is called free enterprise. Free enterprise is where the government doesn't decide how thing work it's the people spending the money that decide. There are plenty of hotel from Green to Fairlawn to Boston Heights for people to stay at.

JD coaches The University of Akron -- Lee Owens coaches Ashland -- maybe the Zipmeister was redirected to this site when he looked up Lee's name.

I would wager that no NFL quarterback has been hamstrung by the complete and utter ineptness of an offensive coordinator Charlie was stuck with. Maurice Carthon could go down as one of the worst offensive coordinators of all time. To get a complete dolt like him to help you transition to the NFL was less than helpful. All of this being said Charlie has his chance to prove to everyone this year he was worthy of a third round draft pick. I think the talent surrounding him and the offensive system are going to be quite an upgrade this year. I wish him all the luck in the world. I hate Notre Dame and would love nothing more than to see Brady Quinn wear a visor and carry a clip board all year like Phillip Rivers did in San Diego.

200 * 50 = 10,000 students when the stadium is on campus. That would be impressive. If that were true how would you explain the 100s that attend the basketball games -- that is on campus. This thing is going to fill up with help of the community -- not sure the students are going to come marching in to fill the stadium. At least their track record at basketball games doesn't suggest as much.

Akron recruiting class ranked No. 5 -- Louisville No. 39. Looking good!

I thought the amount was in one of the original documents -- posted here a while back.
