@ DIG ... since you like to use Webster to define words and terms for us, Webster defines "sixth man" as follows: a player in basketball who is regularly used as the first of a team's substitutes in a game. Doesn't say anything about a "multi-talented player who can play several positions". I think you and Go Zips just made that up.

@DIG ... I think I have read all of Districtballers posts over the years. One that I remember most was an early post of his contention that we had a good program but not one at the "level" of VCU. It may not be and may not have been, but why come one Zipsnation to proclaim it. Don't confuse passive aggressive behavior with civility.

For others out there who think this is our best regular season victory ever, this is not the first time we beat Miss. St. during the regular season. Dambrot & Co. beat Miss. Granted, but do you want to rely on that happening every game? As has been stated on this board a bunch of times, even if you are having an off night offensively, defense can keep you in the game. I was just pointing out that after what appeared to be a very good defensive first half (28 points), that was a lot to give up in the second. Western Michigan got 17 pts on 20 free throws in the 2nd half alone. Was starting to look a lot like our game @ NIU when they shot 40 from the line. Not sure they deserved that many free throws in a half...especially in our house.

I'm sure there's some of that going on. But I think for the most part (similar to the situation with the leader of our country) it's just that when you see someone failing, you'd rather see them replaced sooner rather than later. Akron is a D-1A program. We should NOT be a training camp for head coaches. For me, as with the leader of our country, I pray that these men succeed, all the while knowing that none of them will. For me, i'd only like to see them fail if it was real soon and it meant their firing. Other than that, i'm thinking exactly along the lines of GoZips....especially about the "leader of our country" thing. Please find a different forum to discuss your politics.

He then played at West Liberty State and was a 10th round pick for the Packers in 1980. He had an outstanding 10-11 year career with the Packers and was indeed inducted into their HOF.
