Our reservations for this game have nothing to do with the fact that you beat Can't however many times, lost in the championship round of the tournament, or anything else. It's the fact that we've gotten killed up there for a few years running now.And you're not the defending MAC champions.
-
You have to keep in mind that for anyone not within a two-hour radius of Akron, they're not seeing the Zips play without ESPN U. The channel is FINALLY getting into more households now (it's on Time Warner digital), and you can always go to a bar and request it.Yeah, there's some semi-ridiculous bending of schedules that is sure to make the locals mad. But I think, overall, it's a good thing. We need to be on TV. We need to put ourselves out there. FSN isn't doing it for us.

It'll be interesting to see if we can bring the defensive intensity we showed against Miami on the road for once. We really imposed our will on them.As far as your favorite transfer goes, he's been having back problems all season, so his contributions have been more complimentary than direct. He leads the team in assists this year and had a 7 assist, 3 steal, 0 turnover effort on Saturday. I can only hope he brings that discipline to a hostile environment.
-
Just kidding. I'm merely hoping it's a fairly competitive game and not the blowouts we've seen the last few years. We're not a good road team, you're a great home team... never a good combination.I have to say, Dials has been awesome this year. That pains me to admit. Leon and Wood should be fun to watch (and hey, it's on TV!).

I don't know if we've advertised on here before, but we have our own Power Rankings up on Hoops Junkie, and I figured you guys would like it.http://www.hoopsjunkie.net/blog718/

Dayton is generally good people. They support the team well, and they have a great arena.Obviously, they're a very good team. Playing them so well on their own floor is something you guys should take away as a positive, even in a loss. Pitt did not fare so well.We were pulling for you, but that performance is something to hold your head up about.

I want to say a certain unnamed school near Route 43 got to the final 8 in 2000.

You didn't expect him to actually admit it, did you?

I don't know why you say that. We were on the bubble last year and have been there before.86-87, record 21-9...NIT87-88, record 21-7...No post season88-89, record 21-8...NIT05-06, record 23-10..NIT Fine, pretty new to the bubble as a MAC team. I would argue you weren't seriously on it last year, but that's splitting hairs.

Here's why:-The CAA leader, VCU, is in the top 50 in RPI. Drexel has wins over Syracuse and Villanova. Akron's RPI is 88 with its best win against Oral Roberts. A good win, yes, but not enough to top an at-large resume. Your OOC SOS is 291, which is brutal. And while the ALR and UIC losses came early in the season, they're still to much to overcome at this point. All you can hope to do is beat MAC teams, which won't impress the committee. The BracketBuster screwed you.-The CAA is ranked 12, the MAC 15.Yes, a 14-2 Akron team looks good. But you'll need help. Either Toledo needs to lose again or beat you in the finals because Akron has no chance of getting in ahead of Toledo should they take the regular season championship. The bottom line here is that MAC does not have the requisite respect to get a second bid. I'd love to see Akron take a second bid, but the selection committee does not look favorable upon us. Remember 2005? Miami had a very, very strong profile (43 RPI, SOS in the 70s, wins over Purdue, Xavier, WSU) and got stiffed.Trust me. You guys are pretty new to the bubble zone. You're not going to be happy come Selection Sunday if you don't win on Saturday.

OK, since you took my signature, I'll answer point by point:1. It was a statement from a five-year-old that I found funny. Whatever.2. That's part of my signature. I don't change it from game to game. I'm fully aware of the spanking last night. You're taking this all too literally.3. I'm not sure what your point is here. Are you saying that you modeled yourselves based on us or that you're plagiarists?4. You completely missed the point. It has nothing to do with Ohio State University, and I don't know how you construed it to be so. A lot of people don't spell O Zone correctly, and because I'm a spelling nazi, I put that in there. And please, spare me the "OU people can't spell" line. Bad spelling is a problem across the country no matter what school you went to. My mistake. I'm sorry. Medler is... irritable, a pot stirrer. It was certainly not the best reply possible, you're right. Come on, it's pwn3d. And once again, the problem is not with the site, it's with you. Nobody is trying to bar you from posting. So far as the smack talking in relation to the win goes... I'm not going to pursue the point further. We'll just go in circles. Beat the Peay shooters.

Your SOS is going to cripple you, as well as your loss to ALR. Beating Nevada would've given you something, but that didn't happen. We're a one-horse show once again.
-
Sorry guys. I friggin' love Bobby Knight! Especially when he throws chairs! If he went to OU, I may find myself wearing green! Good thing it's never gonna happen! Bum...that post was more about OU's arrogance to believe he would even consider it. It's not that far-fetched. After all, look where he ended up after getting the boot from IU.That said, it's a pretty ludicrous statement.

I didn't say that, actually. All I said was that you beat us thoroughly. At best, it would be silly to suggest you aren't legitimate. Actually, what you did was accuse our coaching staff of cheating and acted defensive when we asked for proof. Here's the thing. If we had won last night and I started a thread like the one you started, how would Zip Nation be reacting? Holy crap, I'd be strung up in town square, and rightfully so. In my eyes, you crossed the line. Golden rule, man. I would never do something like that. I'm all for smack talking, but there's at least some decorum to be observed.I did say some things about Dambrot, but it wasn't smack per se, just things that I have observed and heard. He's a good coach, but I don't think he represents himself well (TOS has had issues himself I will say in the interests of disclosure).Fans of many schools come to Bobcat Attack and are welcomed and are part of the community. Put if you come in with guns blazing, we're going to fire back. To a lot of the people there, you just came to stir up trouble. Must be some problem on your end somewhere. It's a pretty fast site for me.
-
Nah. That's about par for the course for us. Our bench contributes very little for us in terms of scoring... or rebounding... or assists...they can foul, though. But I'm really an OU fan. I have a shirt and everything.
-
Heh, I'm sure you guys don't have too many complaints with what TOS is doing down here. And you're right, it is super emotional. On one hand, I love the passion they show. But on the other, it gets so wearying, especially when people don't know what they're talking about...

Class.

Ergo, the lack of effort. Can you tell me our guys looked like they wanted it tonight? Not trying to take anything away from you guys here. You wanted it. We didn't. Your guys looked like they wanted a swift kick in the pants. Which is exactly what they got. After the game, Bubba looked like he needed a hug. At least his girlfriend is pretty hot...
-
I've never gotten to rub his head like I've wanted to.

O'Shea has never been popular in Athens, save for the success of the end of the 2004-2005 season. He blew that goodwill last year. Tonight is just another log on the fire for those who want him gone.
-
Yep, that was a complete beating you handed us tonight. I don't think I've seen one that bad in my time here. The funny thing is if you told me Leon would score 21 points, I would've said we won (and I think a lot of people here too). I think the talk of winning tonight was trying to give ourselves hope after the NIU game. Alas, that's life with Tim O'Shea.Really, there's nothing else to say. We never stood a chance. It was so bad, you knocked out our radio broadcast.

#12, Kenneth Van Kempen, is a European player. A project. He shows moments of promise sometimes. Probably overmatched against teams like yours. And as far as why did you lose to us last month... well, we probably played better then.
-
Our board is so mercurial. It's going to be annoying to read all the whining for the next week.

Wow, has Akron played a better half this year?
