Actually, police reports OFTEN happen for no good reason. That is why the Constitution guarantees you the right to a trial by a jury of your peers and due process. So for all those who's feathers I have ruffled, I am merely saying NOT to jump to conclusions and give Tree due process and the benefit of the doubt. In the end, all will come out, and I may be totally wrong. And will say so. But this looks like a rush to judgement. Whatever was reported to the Police, they did not make an arrest (yet), which in my experience turns this into a defense lawyers wet dream. If the Police at the scene did not think it serious enough to make an arrest, well you do the math....

Ray Rice is a professional athlete with a specific contract that requires certain things in order to be paid a ton of money. And he has a union to back him up and it ain't over till it's over. In this case you have stated NO facts. Just that they "must have" "because". How would like to be treated like that. I am saying do not throw him under the bus until he has a chance to defend himself. When all the facts come out you may have a different attitude.

When I went to Akron we had May Day with the floats and the Frats and Sororities getting together late into the night. I know that stuff happened at 4 AM but I really have no idea what! But seriously, unless there is really something serious out there (which I question since an arrest would have been made, even in liberal NY) I wonder why they felt the need to suspend him and issue a press release on a Sunday. It just seems like jumping the gun before some impartial group has convened and he has had a chance to defend his actions.

So once again, I do not know what this is all about, it appears there was some kind of physical confrontation. 4 AM, both drunk, she might very well have taken a shot at him and got one back in return. That would be called cross complaints, and both get arrested or neither gets arrested. My point is NEVER discount the ability of a woman to hit a man. It happens all the time. One of those dirty little secrets hidden by the double standard agenda.

I guess I am the only here who is going to stand up for Tree at all. He was been punished prior to any determination being made, that is my complaint. "Investigation pending" is a nice way of saying that no arrest is going to be made, in all likelihood. Today is Monday, if she has not filed a complaint of criminal charges serious enough to warrant an arrest at this point, I doubt she is going to. He MAY have violated the code of student conduct, but isn't he entitled to a hearing before he is punished?

You are absolutely correct. First of all, you assume this is a DV incident. Just because it involves a man and a woman, does not make it that. Maybe they were arguing over a bad debt. This has not been revealed. Second, THAT is a double standard. A 6' D1 Female BB star could kick my butt in a minute. I know Tree is quite a bit bigger, but the point is, very often in these situations the woman gives as good as she gets. She is probably no shrinking violet and probably smacked him right back (or first). Which may well be why no arrest was made. Suspend them both, or suspend neither, at least until the issue is resolved by an impartial person. Wrong to just punish him.

It sounds like you are saying there is something sexual involved. That is almost certainly not the case since they released her name. Victims of sexual assaults are never identified. As to the rest of it, this reminds me of back when Tree was suspended over the incident in the bar. The same thing was going on here, OH WOE IS ME HE IS GOING TO PRISON HIS LIFE IS OVER. And if you care to look it up, I was the one who was saying: IT WAS A BAR FIGHT, NO ONE IS GOING TO JAIL. I do not know what happened here. I do know he was not arrested, and it seems that UA MAY have overreacted. And I say this because there was no arrest, so what? He is suspended pending investigation of an allegation of something that the Police, who always arrest for domestic violence where there is an injury, did NOT make an arrest for? how about, absent an arrest, we keep the status quo until a determination is made, and only then impose penalties? Why is that oo much to ask in the United States of America?

And on that topic, am I the only person here who does not ASSUME that Tree is guilty of something? Is Akron still in the United States of America? Don't we still have Innocent until Proven Guilty, much less arrested?

Then why is there no arrest? Because SHE does not want to press charges or They don't have enough evidence of criminality. Low level stuff does not go to a Grand Jury. Arrests get made on the scene or they almost never happen.

Block away Bucky. If you think he just showed up at her house without notice and any prior relationship and smacked her around for no reason, you have been buying too much stuff from AA. There is ALWAYS more to the story, and I repeat, there is a double standard at work. Absent an arrest or formal accusation, they both stay or they both get suspended.

It takes two to tango. He gets into a spat with his GF and HE gets suspended. What about her? After 30 years as a Law Enforcement Officer I can state without hesitation that more often than not they are BOTH responsible, but we ALWAYS blame the man.
