  1. You can't synch it, you just gotta go with it, listening to what happened after you see it.Amazing how little they can do in this age.
  2. Sometimes the video feed also has audio commentary, one time it was there but so faint as to be useless. I have also run two computers, one for audio and one for video. But again, if they can't clean up this act that we pay for, it proves just how bush league (sorry George) they really are. Big time schools make sure their alums can participate, and trust me, not all Penn State Alums live with a quick drive of State College.
  3. That is the arguement they make when I complain. But you know, I watched the Duquesne game on THEIR website for free without the nonsense. If we were not having such a great season, I would have cancelled my subscription. It is that annoying, and half the time the audio commentary does not work. Next year, if the teams are not good and that nonsense continues, they lose a fan (and $9.95 a month). If you want to be big time, act big time or just accept being a loser.
  4. Everyone seems to forget that we also kicked the stuffing out of Niagara, which has now won a game in the NCAA. So we beat TWO NCAA automatic bids, not one as has been reported every place. We are the Rodney Dangerfield of College Sports. We get no respect. And the only chance we have to do better is for the student body to support our teams. That means FILL THE JAR AND THE RUBBER BOWL every game. Because all the NCAA and the media sees is $$, which is best represented by admissions.Since I live in NY I can not come to the games. But I PAY to see them on the Internet. The least the student body could do is show up.
  5. As an out of town alum who was here when we went to the Grantland Rice Bowl (and got whomped by Terry Bradshaw) I must tell you this..Akron is and always has been a commuter school. At the end of the school day, everyone just goes home. There was never any real campus social life, most people just kept their old High School friends. B-Ball could draw some people, because it was on campus, and often on week nights after school. Once the commuter students leave for the day, they are GONE! When you figure how many full and part time students attend (25000?), and how many show up for a football or BBall game, it is just pathetic. The student body has always been totally apathetic about sports. An on campus football stadium will help a lot. Especially if they play the games on schoolday afternoons - THEN they will draw a crowd! The secret of success of the "big" schools is not a secret at all - they have masses of students living on and nearby off campus, and sports are a social event. They show up because, among other things, it is something to do when you live there. So along with a stadium UA needs DORMS, DORMS and more DORMS. Only then will we get attendance and respect.Cancel football - not when we actually have a decent program. Right now there are three Zips playing in the NFL, and the MAC actaully has contributed a lot of pros lately. It is not a bad league for us in Football, but sucks in BasketBall.
  6. Hi allI am a '71 grad (yeah, I know I'm old)Between 1971 and maybe two years ago I was never able to see a Zips game (I am in New York). In fact, other than some occasional reporting in the New York Times, I could not even find the scores! With the advent of the Internet and ESPN2, I got to listen to zips BB games, watch the bowl game, and occasionally get streaming video of a game. But here is the rub:The video from the JAR is from the scoreboard camera. So could someone, anyone please tell the geeks running that camera that Alumni PAY to see that video. This season I never saw even one foul shot (but lots of noise meter and tassels, or whatever they call those things the cheerleaders spin around). Every damn time there was a foul shot the camera cut away!Sometimes in the middle of a play the camera would jump to some guy making faces in the stands.Come on geeks, WE PAY FOR THE SERVICE. And it is the ONLY way out of town Alums can see a Zips game. So give us a break, show us the game not the fans!If you want our support (and there are a hell of a lot more alums than active students and probably we have more money to spend too) then give us YOUR support.SOMEONE, ANYONE PLEASE PLEASE tell them to show us the game and not the GO ZIPS sign! Thanks!!!!!
  7. Do you seriously think that playing Rice. SMU and Tulane is not better than playing Toledo and CMU? You gotta be kidding, it does not matter how strong their teams are - those are big name schools with big time name recognition, and that's what really matters. As far as going Independant - NOT!We were independents when I was in school (1967-71). That really sucked. Not even an automatic bid of any kind available, and impossible to schedule quality opponents. As far the THE GAME, well when I watch it on replay, I count one one thousand two one thousand between the first touch and the clock starting. The miracle shot was taken at 1.2 seconds. THEREFORE, the clock was expired and Akron won! What a hosing!
