  1. I was one of those idiots. Because I like college football. I would like to see it changed so that my main experience at one of the games was more than just "feeling good" because my team was playing in a big stadium. How would you change it?
  2. Even if I lived in Ohio, I wouldn't go to this game. A day or two at Put-in-Bay would be time and money better spent, but don't tell that to my liver. I could care less about whatever they feel they need to restore at osu. I won't pay to go see what I believe to be a fraud perpetrated upon college football fans. That fraud is the BCS conferences OOC schedules and their playing non-BCS schools in order to pad their wins/pockets. People who pay to go to these games are part of the problem in college football. The schools do it because the fans are stupid enough to purchase tickets to this nonsense. I'd gladly pay to see the Zips play any MAC school or even FIU. I refuse to have my money stolen from me. Go Zips! You are right....just like those idiots that went down to watch us play NC State, or Toledo fans that drove up to the Big House or happy valley. Mid majors win all the time. I happen to be one of the people that loves seeing MY school step out on the field with the "big boys". Why do you even bother to pay attention to NCAA athletics? Nevermind, I dont really want to hear the answer. I agree. I like seeing these games. It isn't the NCAA saying these games have to happen. This is the teams making their own schedules. Every conference in America does this. They all play the mid majors. If Akron doesn't want to play OSU or PSU or Nebraska, then don't schedule them. Nobody is holding a gun to their heads. These are a win for the mid majors. First, they can sell that during recruiting, second, they get valuable experience, third, those players at the mid major get the feeling of playing in front of 100,000 fans. fourth, the school gets a lot of money. Some make it sound like the bigger conferences are just manhandliung and injuring these mid majors. That isn't the case at all. They are more talented football players, but that's it.

Go Zips! Now you really made me miss home. I miss going out to Put N Bay on the boat from Catawba. Renting the bikes and cruising the wineries. That was a good time....
  4. Great pickup for IU.
  5. Being competitive will be a huge improvement. Last season not only did we lose all but 1 game, but we were blown out multiple times by MAC teams. WIns some games and be competitive in most of the rest and I consider that improvement.
  6. Good luck to him. Hopefully we will see him in the 2013 class.
  7. Really guys.
  8. Amstutz-I always thought the were the same person.Naples is a very nice area. And now becoming a home for fired former coaches? Hmmmm.Maybe they will go out fishing and get harpooned. Now that wasn't very nice. I apologize.
  9. Nice to get that first one out of the way. Sounds like he has decent size and room to grow. Now let the flood of verbals begin.
  10. This thread was started because the first team on our schedule this year (some call them opponents) had off field issues that put the chance of the head coach not being on the field when we played them. The subtitle of the thread changed from "might not" to "will not" when it was for sure. I did this to keep all the discussion in one thread. The thread also includes links predicting the coach getting the boot. The thread also includes the actual copy of the email that was sent from Archie to Tressel that started the whole process. The thread also includes many contributing people's opinion on why they think what the coach did was wrong. The thread also includes the unethical conduct code which OSU was thought to violate, and then cleared of.To say this thread was started for "the sole purpose of bashing OSU" is ignorant.Nice try, but even this posts proves it. You just can't see it. You are admitting what this post was for. LOLIf it was simply to talk about our "opponents" coach not being there, it would have pretty much stopped with that. It wouldn't have had all that other garbage.Again, nice try. You know I almost apologized for typing that before I saw your edited post. Good thing I didn't.
  11. What you have said is 100% correct. The examples you give are good expect for one thing...we have less information than in those publicized court cases. So there is no real proof that anything more took place. Just speculation. The problem is that one of our board also graduated from OSU. If you take some of the more passionate Zips fans on this board and extrapolate that passion to BuckZip for OSU…you can see where he may find issue with the debate here. He may also be a tad bit sensitive…but others here are just as sensitive about other issues. I don’t know BuckZip. But he did graduate from UofA and I think we should have cut him a little slack and extended a little more understanding. That did not happen…in fact I think he was often baited here by fellow Zips fans. Unfortunately he often took the bait. It would have been far better for him just to ignore everybody and say nothing. In the end…he was vindicated. He said Tressel lied and had to go….and that is what happened. He should have left it at that…and he should have been given some respect and understanding. In the end…it still is a free country and we can say and believe what we want. I just wish we would be a little more thoughtful sometimes.I would be just as passionate about defending UA if the need was there. I don't get Akron hate on other boards though. They ask me questions about Akron and what can be expected. A lot congratulated Akron on the soccer NC and wish their school was as good as Akron at soccer. The petty crap isn't there. And there are 10000 x more posters there than there are here. Literally. There are 6-7 boards for OSU that all have more traffic than this site.As for debate, this isn't a debate. This thread was started with the sole purpose of bashing OSU. They typical crowd will disagree with that, but all you have to do is read this thread and it is obvious. There was no debate intended or ongoing. This was just 29 pages of let's say how dirty and how much cheating OSU does and how much of a scums their fans and coaches are. That is all this thread was for. Every time one of the rags posted something new it was posted here immediately. Of course most of that has been proven to be BS and you don't hear anyone saying anything about that. This is the site for UA sports. It's very sad that the thread about another schools issues is longer than the threads about UA in the NCAA tourney and soccer NC combined. That is very disturbing to me.I wish I could come here and talk Akron sports without the other BS, but that's part of the game I suppose. As far as taking the bait, that's pretty funny. There are constant OSU bashing posts here. I respond to about 10% of them. I just let the guys spew their hate and laugh at it. Out of 29 pages on this thread I have few responses up until these last 2 pages. There are only a few posters here that always start the crap, but they are the loud minority. I always love the posts from the guy that claims he has a lot of OSU friends and always makes up BS about what they are saying and how they are whining and crying. I laugh every time I read his posts because I know it is 100% fabricated.
  12. All lies. GP1 knows everything...ROFLMAO.
  13. Don't lie. I know lying isn't frowned upon by osu fans, but don't apply that to one of my posts. I never said he had to know everything going on. It's just interesting to me that if this guy sticks around long enough, the crap piles up and there are a bunch of dirty people around him. Birds of a feather flock together. It has to be extremely disheartening for all osu fans to now know how hollow all of the accomplishments of the past ten years are. In many ways Buckzip, I pitty you. You have been made a fool of by one of the great con men of all time. You are in good company though. Almost an entire state was fooled along with you. It's quite sad in many ways.Like I said, you have shown nothing. Keep trying. You keep using hyperbole and spewing misinformation. You stated that I am ok with lying, when in this very thread I said he deserved to be fired for the cover up and lying about it. Fail on your part. You have also stated that I think he is pure, when in this very thread I have stated I don't put him on the pedestal that some OSU fans do. Fail on your part.It really makes me laugh when you constantly ignore every line in a thread where I prove you wrong and then come up with some new line of BS. You just pick and choose what you want to respond to. You really don't see that you are doing that. All I asked was for you to prove to me why he is a cheat and a scumbag like you have claimed for many years now. I gave you every opportunity to prove he was a scumbag and a cheat. You failed miserably. Like I said in another post, you are the only one smart enough to know what a scumbag and cheat he is. The rest of the world, except GP1 and a few other haters here don't know what you know. You must think a lot of yourself. Nobody but the mighty GP1 knows what the man is all about. ROFLMAO at you. I feel sorry for you to be fooled by your own arrogance, paranoia and petty jealousy. You are a very small man. I will say a prayer for you tonight. Keep at it now GP1. Keep trying to convince yourself and others that you have credibility. You have none. You have failed and I am now done with this. Maybe you can get a job at Fox or MSNBC or BSPN. They like people that can say whatever they want hoping that nobody calls them on it. However, when asked to prove their points with facts they change their tune and try to avoid the questions. Perhaps next you will say the man killed puppies and sacrificed babies for wins. Next.
  14. Isn't it normal to bring your starting QB?Perhaps this is proof there is no planned starter yet.
  15. Do your own research. There is this thing called Google and you can look things up with it.Secondly, put some thought into it. Lucas, MoC, Troy Smith, tatgate. All of these things go on around Tressel, yet he never seems to know anything about it. All the dirt around him and his hands are always clean. He learned well in Youngstown. I don't believe Tressel is a stupid guy so him not knowing about it can't be the answer. Where there is smoke, there is fire. Tressel is a walking Cheech and Chong movie. What really tripped Tressel up in this case was the Federal investigation. ncaa investigators are the Keystone Cops. Easy enough for Tressel to fool. A Federal Prosecutor is a whole other story. Tressel tried to hide the truth for as long as he could in order to win a few more games. He couldn't.Thanks for proving my point. You have no facts. You just assume that a D1 coach knows everything that goes on with over 100 players on his team. MOC, proved to be nothing. MOC later came out and admitted it. Once the Troy Smith infoa was found out he was suspended, including the Texas game resulting in the OSU loss. Up until me nobody ever questioned you and just believed what you say. Now when asked for proof you fail. Like I said, I have given you every opportunity to prove what you say and all you come up with is rumors, heresay and disproven facts. I get it you hate the guy. Thanks for playing. Have a nice day.
  16. His cheating and his players getting paid at YSU was public knowledge 10 years ago. His relationship with the Pharmor executive was public knowledge. Things like the QB getting paid don't just happen. Especially $10,000 worth of getting paid. I know the former QB said Tressel didn't know, but he also doesn't know what the Pharmor guy and Tressel talked about when they were alone.Fact. He resigned in disgrace a few weeks ago, unless I missed something and he is still the osu coach. He resigned partly because he covered up information he knew about a Federal drug investigation. "Good people" don't do things like that.Fact. He put players on the field he knew would have been ruled not able to play had he provided what he knew to osu and then to the ncaa. He wanted to win more than doing the right thing.I don't believe this nonsense that Tressel was just a "good man who did something wrong". He did what he did because he believed he could get away with it. Woody was a good man who did something wrong against Clemson. Woody was at least an old man who was losing his senses. Tressel has no excuse other than his poor character.Dr. Drew once said that it takes years to cure people of opium addiction. I think it may take that long for lots of people from Ohio to get over Tressel addiction.Again, no facts on your part. We all know about the tat stuff and him playing inelegible players. This has been out less than a year and you have been calling him a cheater a lot longer than that. Like I said, he made a bad mistake and paid for it. That doesn't make him a scumbag. Public knowledge at YSU, I never heard about it before. Please give me facts about this. I get it you hate the guy. I get it you obviously have a personal beef with him. So be it. I have given you every opportunity here to prove why he is a scumbag and cheat, before tatgate. You have given me nothing. Until you present facts, you are just another hater with nothing to back it up. You should apply at BSPN. They work without facts also.
  17. I don't like Tressel because I don't like people who portray themselves as pure as the new fallen snow and then turn out to be something else. Decent men like Joe Paterno have lost to this cheater for years now and I don't like the fact that a dishonorable person like Tressel would use cheating to get over on a decent person like Paterno. In a decent society, Tressel would be marched to a town square and have rotten produce thrown at him by the public. He is a cheater. He cheated at YSU paying players while being involved with a corrupt CEO of Pharmor (sp?). He cheated at osu covering up for players who would have not been on the field had he not covered up for their transgressions. He had to resign because of his cheating and lying. Those are only the things we know about. His time at osu is tarnished. His records mean nothing. He is a con man because he got almost an entire state to believe he was as pure as the new fallen snow and then showed himself to be a scumbag. These high school football coaches, who really don't know him as well as they might think, are fools for wearing sweater vests. The guy had to resign in disgrace and should not be "honored" in any way, shape or form. The actions from these coaches should not be looked upon as honorable in any way. These actions are an affront to what high school coaches should be teaching and promoting to their players. The coaches need to act like grown-ups in this case and they are acting like teenagers who don't have the maturity to understand how horrible a person like Tressel really is.If you want to talk scumbag, we can do that as well. See information on him, tat parlor and Federal investigation above. Most coaches who end up like Tressel are either scumbags, con men or cheaters. Tressel is the first coach ever to hit all three marks. I guess congratulations are in order. These are all your words. I asked for facts. Please give proof of what you say. I agree I don't think he is the Saint like many OSU fans do. I think he is like the rest of us and has his faults. However, you went way beyond that. Millions of people think he is a good guy that made a big mistake. Few think like you do. Please tell me why the few know what the millions, including those that know him personally, don'tIf you can't it is just more rumors. The entire tat parlor thing is less than a year old. You have been calling him a cheat and scumbag long before that. Please give facts and proof.
  18. I agree with this. However, These guys have piled on non stop with glee. It's fun to watch them cry now. :DI predict this thread will be locked very soon.
  19. No. His testimony with the NCAA shows he lied because he was trying to cover up his players actions at an establishment owned by a man being investigated for Federal drug charges by the Federal government. The tat parlor dealer was later convicted. He lied in his reasoning for why he did it. He said he didn't know what to do. That's BS. As the former Athletic Director at YSU, he would have known exactly what to do. You pick up the phone and call the University legal department and have a sit down with a lawyer. Tressel covered it up because he would have lost a chance at having a successful season. There have been plenty of OSU players picked up for breaking the law, including DUI, while Tressel was the coach. One of the players mentioned in the SI article is Bo Delande. He was picked up for DUI. The kid is a walk on and Tressel didn't give him the boot. Booting a walk on is a good way to send a message to the remainder of the players on the team about DUIs. Tressel chose not to send that message.I completely disagree with this. Booting a walk on shows nothing. Booting an established player shows something. You know like 5* future AA Eugene Clifford, or 4* CB James Scott, or Erik Haw or Sirjo Welch, or Marcell Frost or Lousi Irizarry, or Duron Carter, or EJ Underwood or Brandon Underwood. Dorian a 5* lB was suspended for this season because of smoking weed. I could go on and on and on. But that would take away from the small little facts you have on your side. Selective facts are an interesting thing...Do you believe OSU is the only school that has DUI's?
  20. I think if you look at the Dispatch article I linked to, the ncaa isn't bothering to look into the more serious charges because they might find something. In order to prove something, one must actually make an attempt at proving that which they charge. It's sort of like a guy stealing a car, using that car to rob a drug store and running someone over driving too fast from the crime scene. After that happens, the local district attorney decides to prosecute the guy only on a speeding charge because looking into the other stuff would be too difficult. If I was Auburn or LSU or any other school who might be in trouble, I'd be happy about this recent report. It shows the ncaa really isn't going to look into the big name schools. The damage has been done to osu. They had to get rid of the guy who was willing to cheat his butt off in order to make osu the best team in the Big Ten. Now that all of this is out in the open, they won't be able to cheat their way to success and it will create a more even playing field in the Big Ten. Tressel will always be remembered as the guy who cheated his way to success and there will always be people thinking twice about the success osu had over the past ten years.Tressel cheated at YSU and won. He cheated at osu and won. Kind of makes you think......Maybe there is something to this cheating. And the Dispatch article was never proven either. This was the perfect time for the NCAA to make an example of a major program, yet they couldn't. Like I said you guys are all falling for the media hype. Cheating happens everywhere in big time college sports. That doesn't make it right, but it happens. Just look at the SEC. My question to you GP1.Why do you hate Tressel so much and why do you call him a con man?I would like to have specifics. You have multiple times called him a con man and a cheater. Please give facts to back those up. I don't know Tressel personally. I only know what I see and hear from him and what I hear from his ex players. All, except the ones that were in the dog house, seem to love the guy. High school coaches in Ohio are planning to wear sweater vests the first week of the season in support. They too love the guy. People that know him love him.I know a lot of people that know him and say he is a great guy. I don't know one way or the other and don't believe everything I read or hear on either side. I have had my fights with those at OSU that beleive the guy walks on water. Their are some real goofs that I beleive pray to the guy. So I do see that side too. You don't mention the awesome things he does. OSU had a commit from a top RB in 2002. He died before he got to OSU. Tressel gave his mother a NC ring in memory of her son. That wasn't reported or made a national story. The only way some of us found out was because OSU insiders let us know. He didn't do it for publicity. Now, please tell me why he is a con man and a cheat. Facts only please.
  21. That's what I predicted. Granted I don't believe this is over yet. However, the masses here listened to the BSPN driven agenda and fell for all of it. Most of what they "reported" was never proven to be true. These are the same types that believe Sara Palin said she can see Russia from her house, when it was Tina Fey that said it. (no not political). Even many fans of the true rival schools fans recognized that BSPN was over the top on this. They weren't reporting the news they were digging for things. Believe me or not, kool aid drinking or not. Now when the NCAA reports on the facts, posters here have an issue with it. Facts. Players sold their own stuff, clearly an NCAA crime. Fact Tressel lied when asked about it. Tressel needed to go for making the wrong call. Some will say he had good reasons for this as he was protecting his players from an FBI investigation. I say BS. He lied, bottom line. He needed to go and the school needs some form of punishment.
  22. But how much is a huge improvement? We could have three wins (Brookhart's worst season), would it count as a huge improvement? There should be a bigger leap going from year 1 to year 2 than there is going from year 2 to year 3. In that light, if we can expect to get to a bowl in year 3 (not an unrealistic expectation for a new coach brought in to turn around a sinking program), we need to have 4 or 5 wins in year 2.If Ianello gets to 5 wins this season, I'll temporarily shut up about him. How's that for incentive, coach?I think 4 wins and being competitive in most of the other games is a huge improvement. I realize that a loss is a loss, but last year not only did we lose, we weren't even competitive in many games. Obviously we will get beat up against the BCS teams, but if we can be competitive against the rest while pulling out some wins, I consider it a huge improvement.
  23. Amstutz-I always thought the were the same person.
  24. Wow. What sad news. RIP and thoughts and prayers to his family.
  25. What a tool....Thanks for your valuable input. Now back to your Happy Meal.
