  1. If all else is equal you are right. However, it is rare that all else is equal in this type of situation.
  2. What is the story of Broderick Alexander? i thought he was healthy.
  3. They are taking UA lightly. If the team is doing the same, maybe we can pull the upset.
  4. The coaches who preceded Saban and Meyer must have done a wonderful job of stocking their rosters with great players so that Nick and Urban could be so successful right out of the gate.Isn't there an old saying of A great coach can beat you with his players and then turn around and beat you with your players? A great coach can make fair talent look pretty darn good. A bad coach can make that same talent look terrible.
  5. Did you mean that you can't hear the questions?? I agree with that.I think ICoach is more comfortable this year and much more at ease this year. Truthfully, I could never understand how he could be such a good recruiter based on how he handled interviews last year. This year he is more confident and at ease...hopefully that is more his true personality. Also...I hope it is a sign that he is growing and improving too.Yes, I can't hear the questions being asked. I can sort of guess by the answers, but not all the time.
  6. He came across very coach like to me. Good answers and non evasive. My problem with these press conferences is you can't hear the questions. You can sort of guess based off his responses, but you can't be sure.
  7. I think we should hire him and find out. Pass. I am all for taking a lower division coach that has had success. But Winters hasn't done much.
  8. I think I CALLED it earlier in the week when I said The Lone Ranger would need his horse to see OVER the line. HOW MANY balls were batted down? How many balls were thrown over , or infront of receivers? Then PN7 comes in during the 4th and it looks like our O LINE had already gone for the day. Nicely delivers a well throw ball to his receiver and it hits him in the hands and goes right through.... Probably wasnt use to having the ball in the RIGTH PLACE. And to think this was OSU with a new coach and many new starters and they took us apart. I had heard we had interviewed the Ohio State Coach for our HC Job but passed on him for Coach I...Is it TO LATE to SWAP....I wont even start about the defense. Hope they give PN the start this week so we can at least have a chance with Temple. I saw a few bright spots on offense, but it WASNT our great new juco QB the Lone Ranger http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drew_Brees This is a myth about height. Drew Brees is short. Colt McCoy is short. There are a lot of short QB's. Many o-lineman are in the 6-5 6-6 range. There aren't many QB's that tall. QB's are throwing through lanes more so than throwing over lineman. Balls are batted down for a number of reasons. The QB's release point. The o-lineman not being engaged, a great defenseive play, etc. Im not saying height doesn't matter, but it is not the biggest factor. This was the guys first game as a starter and it was against a faster, bigger team on the road. I think he deserves a little break. JMHO.
  9. There are a ton of good players at small schools. If you are a good player, you get noticed. Sure the comp may be less, but that is why these scouts are paid more than we are to evaluate talent. Most high school recruiting isn't based on how you look in high school alone, it's based on your potential. That is why you will see a lot of guys recruited and switch positions as soon as they step foot on campus. The coached see the skill set and talent and then predict where he will be the best. Many high school Rb's becomes lb's or safetys. QB's become WR. OL and DL are reversed quite often when they get on campus. There are a lot of guys that are AA o-lineman and they are being recruited as a DL.
  10. Yes, that is complete BS. So the girl in the Akron band was cheering for OSU.. Wow,
  11. We will have to agree to disagree on the recruiting part. I agree with the part about wanting ot play. But there are a lot of programs between Akron and Ohio State. You may be a backup at OSU but start at Indiana or Minnesota or Pitt, or Cincy. Akron rarely beats out these schools. Yes, we do beat them sometimes for a recruit but not often. If Akron would have beaten OSU yesterday, it would affect Ohio State the way Appy State beating scUM affected scUM. Most laughed at scUM rather than gave credit to Appy State. I would agree with your point about recruiting if Akron did this yearly. Hey, if we beat a BCS top 20 team every year, hell yes it would help recruiting. Then we would be an up and coming team. However, just winning one time wouldnt' change a lot as far as direct recrutiing against OSU. Again, I am not saying it wouldn't help UA recruiting. I am only saying it wouldn't sway recruits from OSU to UA. Thank You. Thank you for at least PARTIALLY returning to reality. Although I try not to make personal assessments on here, your previous post displayed an incredibly naive viewpoint. And as much as you attempt to position yourself as this objective OSWho follower, you really showed a mentality reminiscent of the arrogant bandwagoners we see and encounter on a daily basis. And although you've backed off a bit, I would wager that at some point in the future, while typing out a knee-jerk response to someone's post, you will make a valiant return to a mindset that characterizes the typical, robot-like Suckeye follower. More personal attacks because that's all you can do. You must lead a pretty sad life. BTW, perhaps if you stopped with the childish name calling you would be taken a little more seriously by those that don't share yoru ridiculous opinions. Then again, why should you change now? What would you like for your 9th birthday present?
  12. If Akron would have beaten OSU yesterday, it would affect Ohio State the way Appy State beating scUM affected scUM. Most laughed at scUM rather than gave credit to Appy State. And you have the audacity to call Zips' fans "haters" on this board!!! tosu has a trademark on hate. The only scUM are buckeye honks like you. And as always, go away... What color is the sky in your world? Do you think BSPN, or SI or any sports related media would have given Akron any credit??? No, they would have bashed OSU just as Appy State wasn't given credit. scUM was trashed for losing to them. Whether you and your immature name calling like it or not, that is reality. Thanks for playing.

  14. I don't believe for one second they didn't know, at the time, taking those bags was a violation. What they did is Compliance 101, not sr., jr. or even soph. level compliance. They learned it the first day. Rules are rules even when the rules are stupid. Whether or not they turned themselves in isn't the issue. The issue is the culture of non-compliance Tressel created. If they don't break the rules, they don't have to turn themselves in. What a culture he created wow. He should be in jail, actually on death row.
  15. Is he your next door neighbor? Thanks for your typical valuable input. My pleasure. The real value in the post is there will be about 50 people who read it and get a kick out of the humor. Absolutely. There is a lot of humor here.

  17. I don't think you heard him right. I think he was saying to stop with the charity and other events for a while and just focus on the players. Does anyone have a recording of the game? It happened late third quarter or in the fourth. If I remember right, it was about taking gift bags. tOSU players shouldn't stop doing charity events as it is important for them to support charity. They should stop breaking ncaa rules while at charity events. A free mouse pad and a free t-shirt. Something they probably threw away when they got home. I have been to things like this before and when I am leaving I am handed something. I have never thought about it. But I am sure 18 year odl kids do. They actually told the coach right after a meeting where they were told this was against the rules. They should have just hid it like 95% of the rest of the schools do.
  18. I can't read mile-long posts with bold lettering. I assume it was an Ohio State fan telling Akron fans how stupid they are, on the Zips Message Board, with some screen name that infers they're a Zips fan, when they really aren't. Happens all the time here. Examples please. No, I'm not expecting a response.
  19. Unfortunately most here won't agree with you because they are consumed with hate. If you are a grad of both, you are crap to these people.
  20. Recruits really have nothing to do with it for me. It's the potential fan base. This week I've taken a ton of heat about being an Akron fan, from fellow Akron-area residents!! It's sickening. It's demoralizing. I'm not looking forward to work this week. Still won't bow down to Columbus. B&G, I am going to guess that WooT's comment was meant to be humorous, and in support of the idea that what happened yesterday doesn't matter. But, at the very least, you'd have to be an absolute fool to think that there is no effect on our fan base and recruiting when you send a resounding message to fans and recruits that your current team didn't belong on the same field as the more popular school in the state. Buckzip can laugh all he wants, and attempt to convince us that it doesn't matter. And for him, and others like him, I would ask one question: If we had won yesterday, could you also say that fans and recruits would not have taken notice? It would have made a HUGE impact. So, performing so poorly certainly produces the opposite effect. I'm concerned about what this does to dampen fan interest right now as well. But unlike you, I think I am much more concerned about the recruiting impact. Because, in the long run, getting the horses in here to just compete successfully against the top MAC programs would have to be the first step to getting local fans interested in our program again. I do laugh at you because you live in lala land. However, I will answer your question. Yes, it would matter to fans. Look at what soccer has done at Akron. I have been saying it forever, win some damn games regularly and fans will show up. No, it wouldn't matter to recruits that are looking at OSU. It may matter to recruits that are looking at Akron and other schools, but if they are looking at OSU this means nothing for Akron. Sure, if Akron beat OSU, then some of those recruits looking at Akron, Can't, Ball State, BG, Minnesota, Indiana may give Akron a second look, but that's it. You guys can say the same thing over and over and over, but that doesn't make it true. Some of you make it sound like so many players have UA and OSU as their final 2 and always pick OSU. If these guys don't go to OSU, they are going to UM, PSU, Florida, or a variety of other schools. UA may offer some of the same recruits as OSU, but that doesn't mean UA has a shot at any of them.
  21. Akron lost today to a better team. However, in years past we were destroyed by PSU, Florida, Nebraska and other MAC schools worse than we were today. Not sugarcoating, but today wasn't nearly as bad as others we have seen in the last decade. Here are some facts. 1-OSU worked for every score. There were no long huge TD plays. 2-Our receivers were getting open against their much better secondary. 3-OSU didn't get pressure on the QB without blitzes. 4-Contrary to what some think, this team didn't quit. 5-The defense didn't look nearly as bad as the score indicates.
  22. If that is true about barley House, then people need to STFU about Barley House supporting OSU.
  23. "I don't think that was classy, but good luck the rest of the year" I am happy that I heard rob say that to luke. I was so riled up that I would probably have started a fight with any jerk I saw out wearing OSU gear at the bars tonight. That blitzing and those deep throws in the fourth quarter were classless, but that's what we deal with standing behind a bad program playing on a saturday against classless cheating program corrupted by shitloads of money. The passes were fine. They are trying to develop their QB and passing game. They were freshman throwing to freshman. . They were playing a lot of Freshman and getting them experience. If they wanted to rub it in, you would have seen throws at the and to punc in 1 more TD. I think Ianellos issue was with the blitzing late in the game. I agree with him on that. All out blitzes when the game is over are over the top and risk injury.
  24. I don't think you heard him right. I think he was saying to stop with the charity and other events for a while and just focus on the players. That is exactly what he said.
