Most teams make significant improvement between the first and second years of a new staff.I expect a huge improvement this season.

I wasn't the one that posted on the thread last year about how I won't go to any games and support the team like so many posters here did. I live in Georgia and I always plan my trips home around the Akron homes schedule so I can go to at least 2 games a year. Yet I am attacked non stop here. Any recruit should want to come here. Young rebuilding team with great facilities. As the soccer team proves, if we have a winner, support will be there. We are in a hotbead for recruiting. The future is bright here. Why on earth would you want to crack the program when someone is expressing interest in bringing a player here? I guarantee he went running back to the kid and told him to stay the hell away from this program. If we can't help sell the program and the potential that it has, we are screwed. Our glorious record during the last several years isn't going to have recruits lining up to play at UA.Yes, I am certain you are correct. The whole scenario started out so believably. A high school coach wants to know what kind of offense a team runs so instead of contacting the appropriate coaching staff, the high school coach posts the question on a fan message board. Then reading that one poster on the message board had a negative comment about the college team, the coach rushes back to the recruit and warns him away from the college. This all makes perfect sense. I hope the coach didn't get injured by any crap falling from the flying pigs in this story.without a doubt there are some insecure dbags on this bd[/i....whomever said situational awareness is dead on.....that's an application that works in nearly every life situation....Truer words have never been spoken. Insecurity is extrememly high on this board. I made a joke and it was obviously a joke. You would think I am Kirk Herbstreit saying on national TV that he would never suggest an offensive recruit goes to a particular school.If you want to know what makes Akron look bad it is having all these insecure people spending countless hours discussing others school rather than Akron.

Here is how the game goes. OSU prepares for Nicely at QB. He starts and OSU d-ends get excited as they sack Nicely 3 times in a row. Now OSU is cocky and believes Akron can't move on them.Clayton gets inserted. Now the OSU d-ends have a strong angle of pursuit to the QB but Clayton sidesteps and runs for huge yardage. Now knowing that Akron has a mobile QB the OSU defense decides to focus on stopping the run. The OSU defense with 3 new LB's and 2 new corners starting is inexperienced and baffled by the switch at QB allowing Akron to move the ball and score. On defense, Mike Adams being suspended leaves a gaping hole at left tackle for OSU. Norwell is unable to contain Hazime and true Freshman Braxton Miller gets butterfingers and is nervous. This causes him to throw some interceptions and fumble the ball away on QB runs. With OSU clingling to a 2 point lead late in the game, OSU is forced to punt. The punt is blocked, and after watching the Sugar bowl game last year, the Akron defender realizes he can pick up the blocked punt and returns it to the 5 yard line. Akron runs it into the strong OSU d-line 3 times for no gain. Then, realizing that Igor is no longer the kicker, Coach I decides to go for the field goal. The FG team comes in and the kick is..............

Just as negative about the mac as I've always been. The league sucks. We suck. Everything about the mac sucks. There is no reason to believe we can't be the corn kernel atop the pile of crap that is the mac.So what you are saying is the MAC is the best league in CFB.

Whenever you have a new coaching staff the first season usually suffers. Coaches are learning players, players are learning coaches and new systems are implemented. I think we will have a good read on Coach I this season. If the team isn't vastly improved then a change maybe needed. I don't only mean vastly improved as far as w-l record. I mean being competitive. Even if we lose a lot of games but are competitive that is an improvement. This school has too much invested in the new facilities and stadium to not be taking advantage of the benefits they offer.

Who says that he hasnt done a hell of a job as a recruiter? Look at some of the youth that has been added to this team and the promise that they have shown already...1. Jawon Chisholm - looks like he has all-mac talent2. Anthony Holmes - Going to be a very solid db...all mac potential3. Tyler Williams - Is going to be the most explosive player the zips have had in over a decade.4. Antoine Russell - Showed flashes as a true freshman and I think he will be much improved this year.5. Nick Rossi - a top 10 ILB recruit in the nation.6. Keith Sconiers - Another highly touted receiver that looks like the real deal.7. Zack D'Orazio - Another solid athlete that looked damn good in the spring for being a freshman.8. Nico Caponi - Solid D line player as a freshman and played well this spring.9. John Griggs - His video looks like he is a long, lean and explosive pass rusher unlike we have seen at UA in a while.10. Andrew Bohan - Solid and well rated OL that played well in both of the post season all star games against very high talent.11. Clayton Moore - SEC talent that is very intriguing and adds much needed depth to the position.12. Kyle Pohl - Another highly touted young QB that looked the part in the All Star game.While we aren't sure how all of these guys will end up, I have a lot of hope compared to many of the other classes. I see this young talent infusion helping us win a few games this year. Once recruits see the program going in the right direction the sky is the limits. I am excited.8 of those guys haven't played a single down in a college game. According to your list, only four players that Ianello has recruited to the Zips have contributed in a meaningful way despite the team being supposedly so devoid of talent when he took over that you would think that every single incoming freshman would have earned a starting spot.Thanks captain negative. "...for those of you that think..."I never said he was an old senile fool. However, if you watch the games you will see he doesn't even wear a head set. He is not in the game other than to yell at an assistant here and there. He paces and gives mean looks, but I don't beleive he is doing much coaching. He may make the tough decisions, should we go for it on 4th down, etc. However, his assistants run the games.I think he is active still in recruiting. Having that legend show up at your front door has to be awesome for any high school kid. However, I think that also can hurt. These kids have to beleive he won't be there for the next 4-5 years.

I know it's not psc2009's list, but how in the world is Brian Wagner on the Nagurski watch list and NOT on the Butkus watch list???? It's one of those things that is a yearly bizarre thing in CFB. Look how often the Heisman winner doesn't win the award given to the best player at his position. They are basically saying you are the best college football player, but not the best at your position. It makes no sense.

Excellent question. Here is what you are missing. Lots of people fall for this con so please don't feel bad. Most of these schools quality is based upon how difficult it is to get in. Granted, Akron is a public school and they have to let a lot of people in so things like average SAT scores and GPAs are lower. What they don't measure is what is in the head of a person when they graduate. I'd take the knowledge in the head of a UofA graduate upon graduation rather than a graduate of Kenyon College any day of the week. The kid from UofA will be better adjusted, smarter and more worldly than some spoiled kid from one of those small colleges. A kid from a small college is likely to spend his summer in Europe "traveling"....spare me. A kid from UofA is likely to spend his summer working or doing a co-op or an internship. A kid from UofA knows how to work when he/she gets out of school.There is a lot more to college than a comparison of SAT scores. I'll match both of my degrees, what I know and what I can do against any douchebag from one of these small schools. I fart in their general direction.You know GP1 you must be a multi billionaire. You are so much smarter than everyone else. You constantly tell people how they are fooled or conned and you know everything. Always a good topic. My opinion is PSU fans had better hope not. Once JoePa retires, PSU becomes as relevant at the University of Illinois in the Big Ten and nationally. JoePa is the only thing interesting about PSU football. Lou Holtz once said, "Penn State is fifteen minutes from Altoona by telephone." PSU won't find another person who could make that part of the country relevant as Joe Pa did. It will be a sad day on many levels when he retires.I disagree. I think if they can get a good coach they will be right back on top. JoePa should have left a long time ago. He doesn't coach anymore anyways. He is just a figure head. I have a feeling they will get a bright energetic young coach to come there and get PSU back on top. PA is still a hotbed for talent as well as the eastern US.

Are all the gravel UA lots getting paved? Or just this one?More importantly, why are there still ANY gravel lots?
