  1. I think some here go both ways. NTTIATWWT.
  2. I am glad we're giving him a real look at RB (not necessarily FB). The easiest thing in the world to do is make the white kid a linebacker. It takes a rare, free-thinker to give him a chance to run the ball. He could be Peyton Hillis or Toby Gerhart? He could be lethal inside the 5 yard line? He could be the money back that gets us 4 yards on 3rd and 2? Maybe he's a bigger Bobby Hendry? I want to see him play RB before I stereotype him as an LB. My thought process had nothing to do with race. Sorry that you think that way. I guess you have to assume he is a Hillis or Gearhart type. I'm surprised you didn't say TD Tommy Vardell. You appear to be the one stereotyping here. We seem to have a decent stable of RB. We need more LB's. The kid was a star as a LB moreso than as a RB. I stated my reason in my post. Race's role is slotting football players is a fact. Ask any coach. Ask ITZ or GP1. If you are uncomfortable discussing a reality...we'll just pretend it isn't true and I'll discuss fairy tale stuff. Who comprises "decent stable of running backs?" Chisolm, who's never run the ball in college Staten, who's never run the ball in college. Alexander, who's coming off major knee surgery. Truth is -- We are as unproven at the RB position as you could possibly be. And we need the best RB's in the backfield, or Nicely/Moore are going to get creamed. And Rossi could be the #1 guy as easily as any of those 3. So I'm stereotyping by saying Rossi could be a power back, like Hillis, a true tail back like Gerhart, or a speed back like Hendry? How is that stereotyping? Only in your warped world... Damn, it is impossible to discuss anything with you. You are such a victim, BuckZip. No need to get all bent out of shape and start the other crap CK. I understand that personal attacks are your only way to get your point across though. You started the entire thing by implying I was saying he should be at LB based on race. Now go ahead and deny it. You criticize my choice of stable of running backs because there are 2 that haven't played yet, but you want to add another that hasn't played either. You claim I can't have a discussion, yet you are the one getting all upset because I didn't agree with you. Truly hilarious.

  4. Future depth is concerning to me too. We have 2 scholly freshman DT, all the rest are seniors. Not real concerned about RB. Alexander and Chisolm are 1-2 and Slaten at 3. All are young. I'm hoping Rossi plays LB. We need him at LB more than at FB. IMO he will make a much bigger impact at LB than he will at FB. Williams is the type of guy you get into space and let him work his magic. No Metcalf up the middle crap with him. Slot receiver, tail back taking tosses and sweeps. He could be a real weapon if used properly. Both lines are always a concern here.
  5. I understand marketing as that is what my degree is in. I mentioned the Acme Zip game as one thing that can be done from a marketing standpoint. I plan my trips home according to the schedule. Marketing is not involved in that. Oh wait, the marketing department must put out the schedule so they are involved in that in your world. So after your minor little attack on me you say that it will help a 500 team by 20%. First off, my premise was based on our current team. This is not a 500 team or close to it. Secondly-There is no way to prove the 20% increase based on any marketing effort. The best marketing tool for the team is to WIN. A better marketing campaign won't help with that. Marketing will not bring people to watch a bad team play. Prove me wrong on that. If the team sucks, all the "marketing" in the world isn't going to help. The stadium is beautiful-It doesn't seem to matter to fans. The pricing is average for mid major-Are free tickets going to help that much? The product is terrible. People don't want to waste their time on a bad product. The Acme Zip game was the 1 promo UA did and they ended that. Maybe you think they should have nerf football night or something like that. Yeah, that will pack the place.
  6. Keener did a good job of describing how I feel. But I'm going to pull only one of your complaints and try to address it. Rob is not a rookie coach anymore. Your right last year was a learn on the job rookie effort. I would give him a D-....but, last year is OVER. They haven't invented anything yet to go back in time and change things, so I'm not focusing any more effort complaining about last season. I am willing to look past last season and focus on what is going on in the present and try to look to the future. I want to see if ROB progresses this year. It is possible that he will get that much better. He isn't going anywhere for at least two more seasons. Winning is the answer. One other thing addressing GZ overall statement. I get a feeling of "lack of excitement" from a HUGE Zips fan. How can a marketing department loose a guy like this? It amazes me year in and year out how the Browns can get their fans excited for another loosing season. What does our marketing department do? When you are a fan of a team you don't really need to be "marketed" to. Sure it is nice to have little goodies and things to get excited over, but they can't do an entire season like that. Browns fans would be excited for a new season with or without any marketing effort. I am looking forward to the next season as soon as the current season ends. The Indians are a perfect example. Back in the 90's they sold out every game when they were winning. Once they went to crap, the sellouts stopped. Marketing has nothing to do with that. The team winning and being fun to watch is all the marketing that is needed. A good marketing campaign may bring butts into the seats, but it won't bring in fans if the team loses. If the team started winning and got those butts in the seats, perhaps those people would come back. But with the team sucking like it does, most fans are merely bandwagon jumpers. They will come when the team proves to them that they are worthy to watch. Then they will act like they have always been hige fans. I schedule my trips back home around the Zips schedule. I make sure I am home for at least 2 home games per year. The only marketing I would like to have back is the Acme Zip game. That was a blast. The Rubber Bowl would be sold out and their was a soccer game earlier in the day before the game. The smell of fall was in the air, there were fireworks, maybe some parachute guys and bands. Bring back the 70's version of Acme Zip......
  7. Well Said. Football is my life. I like playing football, and you can play football too..wiff a football.
  8. I do drink red, white and blue. The Labatt Blue packaging has a blue background, white lettering and a red maple leaf. Canadian ehhhh?
  9. The team has to be better. I am never one to challenge worse, but this team really can't be worse. Nicely has to be better. He has to be. If not, then Moore will step in. A year of familiarity in the system should help a lot.
  10. PBR or Red White and Blue are what real men drink.
  11. Isn't he the guy that played Irkel?
  12. Have the improvements to the stadium happened yet? If so, please provide some pics.
  13. What a great opportunity to learn about the program. What a great opportunity WASTED! "We're in helmets, we're going to wear shoulder pads, split squad, maximize..." Save it. B-O-R-I-N-G...Can somebody do there job and get this guy to tell the fans something that gets them excited about the season. Can we hire Emory? He knows how to fire up fans, you know why, because he is fired up. Rob needs to learn how KD excites the fan when someone puts the camera on him. I love listening to KD, I hate listening to Rob. At the minimum, he did say Go Zips?!? Coach I has Archie Bunker like excitement after a day of work. Personally, I don't care what any coach has to say about anything. All I want to see out of this team is some winning. I don't care who does it, which QB does it, which coach does it, etc. I don't even care what their names are, what year they are in or where they come from at this point. Want to get me excited? Win some games. Everything else is meaningless. I agree. But when the guy loses...and he's not even fun to listen to...it makes it all-the-worse. He're hoping for a decent football season, and a coaching personality that shows similar progression. Sort of like Bill Belicheck with the Browns.
  14. If Steiner is indeed gone, I'm curious who will do the long-snapping. I enjoyed watching him snap the ball and hustle downfield to make a play. Schrock, Hall and Greenwood all hurt. They were highly rated guys in positiion of need. That is if they keep Hall at DE. Some of the others were walkons, injured or guys that weren't going to contribute anyway.
  15. +1Bazillion It's football time.
  16. It's the sign of a smart and creative poster. I agree with you. However, you need to be good at it so those you are insulting don't realize it.
  17. Dave, Dave, Dave. You do this so often. You come on and try to be Mr Peace maker while having little underlying digs at the poster you are implying you are trying to help. I never started this. I stayed out of it for the most part. Someone asked me a question and I responded. Then after a bunch of responses and putdowns I still stayed out of it. Then someone else decided they had to bring this to the surface again and bring my name up. Whether it is OSU, UA, the color of my eyes or the color of my hair, or my children, if someone brings me up (mentions my name) I will respond to it. I have tried to let it go. I have not been the one to keep starting it back up. Like I have said before, the fact that this thread is longer than the soccer NC and the basketball team in the tourney combined is very telling. This would be outrageously funny if it wasn't so sad how some of you can't see this. The blindness of some is glaringly obvious. Now go ahead and tell me how you are trying to help and give me advice while putting me down at the same time. LOL By the way, I am not fighting it at all. I laugh at most of the posts I read here because so many are so mis-informed it is amusing. I said what would happen when facts were indeed used and it has.
  18. I wonder how much sleep Captain Kangaroo is going to lose over this... I bet he will lose about as much as I lose caring about what you, he and the other hateraid drinkers think. Still waiting on a little bit of facts from all your posts. Maybe eventually you will find some. I apologize for thinking that last post was my last so you could have your always desired last word. Now go ahead.
  19. Who has been attacking you personally? Maybe you are paranoid. "Don't lie. I know lying isn't frowned upon by osu fans, " "In many ways Buckzip, I pitty you. You have been made a fool of" "You have been made a fool of by tOSU BuckZip. That pill must be pretty hard to swallow. Poop happens." "BuckZip was sucked in to it because he wanted to be sucked in." This is from only the last few pages from you. I am sure there is much more from you and some of your pals. if I cared to go back further. Go ahead and have the last word now GP1. I know you always have to.
  20. So in light of his responses on the topic, what is your opinion? You knew...EVERYONE knew how BuckZip would respond the the topic. "Zips fans are jealous...Ohio State didn't do anything wrong, etc, etc etc." But worst of all, everyone KNOWS the guy never lets it die. Hence the enless "I know you are but what am I?" Pee Wee Herman responses above. If you are taken aback by my mention of your posts, you have my apology. I meant nothing personal. But asking for BuckZip for perspective on an OSU/Akron issue? Why? Why would he respond any differently than any other similar thread over the past 15 years? It always turns out this way. Speaking of respect CK, I have little left for you. Letting this thread go on like this lost most of it and this last bit of BS lost the rest. I stayed out of it because I knew where it would go. Someone asked me a question and I answered it. I answer questions unlike most here. Then when I respond to the post I am attacked with more BS. Then when I asked for proof or facts they were never provided. He runs and hides from it but keep spewing the BS. As for the bolded part above. Please show me where I said that. Or are you planning on being like the other guy here that keeps posting BS and then can't back it up? I will wait. The mob mentality, where you have a bunch of like minded people, is pretty sad if it is the mob against 1 and the mob still can't back up anything they say. The best part of your ridiculous post is that you are saying I won't let it die...REALLY??????????????
  21. I never did say that. However, the mob here notices only where I defend and not where I agreed. I have said multiple times that Tressel lied and covered up and needed to go. They only noticed the posts where I said the media went overboard. Which, to anyone that listens to facts rather than opinions, knows I am correct on. But hey, because 1 poster says over and over and over and over how dirty OSU is, but can never provide a single bit of proof, I am wrong and he is right. Some of us live in the world of facts and proof and some live in the world of believing what they hope is true. Pretty typical. CK has it nailed when he says they always end the same way. I can still say that I have never, ever started an OSU thread here yet when I respond to others, I am the bad guy. Laughable to be sure.
  22. You always wonder how a "West Virginia HS Defensive POTY" ends up with the Zips. Now you know...he has "baggage." Add him to the long list of too-good-too-be-true Zip recruits. Marcus Sanders...EJ Lilley...Nate Robinson...David Harvey...Derrick Tarver... Or maybe that was the problem. He was a DE and Akron made him a TE. Maybe he wasn't on board with that. Unless you know of baggage, it is just an assumption on your part and kind of unfair to the kid.
  23. How do you know they are coming to UA?
  24. That sucks about Hall. He was a highly rated DE that was switched to TE.
  25. Lack of maturity not withstanding, you are correct. And that is why I posted earlier that it is good that we play those games. The players want them and play hard and get valuable experience. I realize that some want to stop these types of games, but I would bet that if you ask the players, they would disagree. Perhaps I am wrong on that, but I don't beleve so. I bet that some Appy State fans didn't want to play Michigan a few years ago. However, they did and they made history. Upsets happen. Imagine what a shot in the arm for this team and school if we could beat a legit BCS school. Not Syracuse or Indiana, but a legit perennial top 25 team.
