$200?! From CAK to where? And what were the dates / airlines? I'm finding ~700 minimum going into BDL (Hartford/Springfield).try www.airbus.comyeah you have to fly out of columbus, but man, rates are only in the $300's and they have alot of great rates.

Man does Conyers look pissed sitting on that bench! I was suprised they only played 8 guys (Florida), for some reason they didn't look as tired as we did.
-
Would love to have his attitude, competitiveness and work ethic on the sideline as a coach. The Rowdies have been spot-on all along with "Di-als! Di-als! ..."Cedi seems to be backing off, going backwards somewhat, I think knees are bothering him again, last 3 games only scored 7 or less points if my memory serves me correct. You hate what Dials does the whole game and then what does he do in overtime? Wins the game, but... what if those 3's didnt go in? We sure didn't have an inside game last night. I am just thinking they really look tired, but it looks like they are going to get no help from Conyers thanks to Coach D. Something must of happened there.
-
If you look at box score from last night, Dambrot is going with 5/6 players. That scares me, these guys are tired (Dials missed both free throws). Do you think they can keep this up, or should he be subbing more?
-
Wonder what Al Fischer and Doug Penno said to Dials after their "facials?"He needs to settle his butt down and just play the game.
-
I was there and saw Coach D offer it to him, to come in and all Jimmy did was stare at him.....

I would love a Miami-Akron matchup, just to get back at Miami from last year's unbelievable last minute 3!

What does it say about Akron Basketball if....

AMEN...and it had nothing to do with the lopsided game. It was all about the TEAM not being able to hit shots as a TEAM. Not just 2 guys.Exactly! Everyone is trying to find an excuse and to put it on Goddard and Milum is ridiculous. As I already stated in a previous post on this thread, the classy thing to do is to start those five guys. No excuse for leaking oil as badly as we did ... my only question is could a basket or two (maybe three?) in those first 2-1/2 minutes of play made enough of a difference in the final outcome ... I don't think I would have passed up the opportunity to sub the first time around (KD left all five out there if I remember correctly) but then again, as previously stated, I have no class ...Quote from the BuchteliteThe rivalry game served as Senior Night for the Zips' men's basketball program. Dambrot elected to start the team's five seniors: the three usual starters - Dials, Middleton and Wood - and guard Nick Goddard and forward Quade Milum."It's not really my style, but I thought it was the right thing to do," Dambrot said. "All five of those guys have been a part of our program (and) done a good job. (We) didn't get out of the box very well, but I'd do it again if I had to."There are things more important than playing your five best guys all the time." -

If you believe that the playing of Goddard and Milum for 2 minutes in the beginning lead to the one-sided affair, you must really not know basketball. I don't care if he put in Sallee, Carroll, Goddard, Milum and anyone else, this team couldn't get it going the whole game until the last 5 minutes, and playing anyone for 2 minutes is not going to turn it into the one-sided affair it was. Look at the other 38 minutes of the game. -
If I remember right, Milum air-balled a wide open three attempt, was yanked and never seen again. Pretty poor senior year overall for Milum - too bad since there seemed to be a fair amount of optimism over the years about his POTENTIAL to develop into a pretty good player. MIA in really big games.Dambrot has class and started the five seniors AND left them in beyond the first opportunity he had to sub for one or more of them. A great way to thank those guys for all of the effort they've given over the years in support of the program. That being said, I have no class and would have started the five guys who would have given me the best chance to win on our home court against our arch rival and best team in the MAC. The fans ultimately got their money's worth but it's too bad we dug ourselves such a deep hole. Don't know if playing our true starters those first few minutes of the game would have changed much overall but I wouldn't have taken any chances in a game like that. I know the game didn't matter a lick as we head to Cleveland but it's Can't on our court and I would have done all I could to get the 'W.' Signed "Classless."Love our bracket and the new season that begins Thursday afternoon - GO ZIPS !!!!!!!!! 19:47 0-2 V 2 GOOD! Just not a good shooting night for the zips. Look at the stats, anyone stand out tonite beside Jeremiah? Maybe Brett McKnight, just a nasty game until the last 2 minutes.
-
I would not call that a layup, that would be a dunk and Goddard went right up with him, weak and hopeless would of been just stand there and watch it. Again Goddard/Milum had nothing to do with the 1-20 at the three. Don't blame two guys for the teams shooting the whole night. Seriously did they make turnovers, miss shots, no, hell they didn't take a shot. Look elsewhere, I know you are trying to blame something, someone, but this game was over before it began.

I think that it call comes down to the fact that for 37-38 minutes, Can't State totally outplayed Akron. The last 2-3 minutes were totally Akron, and had the Zips won, they would have had NO business winning this game.I agree with the comment about McNees, he is still learning how to handle the point, especially in big game situations, but at a cost this year.Correct me if I am wrong, but Linhart and Quade played, right? For seniors, they did a whole lot of nothing when they were out there.Starting to like D Roberts more and more every game. During that first half of sloppiness and timidness, he seemed to be one of the lone Zips actually taking at Can't.Seemed to me like Akron couldnt handle the physicalness of Can't's defense. The tone was set early when the refs let BOTH teams play, and Akron, in my opnion, couldn't handle it, got frustrated and forced THEMSELVES to stay outside and force up bad shots, thus leading to a terrible shooting percentage. Can't's guards are quick, and you would think that somewhere along the way, KD would have figured out that the high pick at the top of the keys WASN'T WORKING.Even more classy than Can't students chanting senior night intro's was them chanting towards the end of the National Anthem. UGH!Love the guy emcee guy. It was hard not to get pumped up there at the end, with the Akron rally, him and The Final Countdown being played. All in all, I think Can't came ready to play, and for the excception of them letting their guard for the last 2 minutes, they deserved to win. No if, ands or buts about it.But I also think that they have a tougher road to Saturday night than we do!!!FYI Darell Roberts was 0-4 with 4 turnovers, I don't think he should be out there in this kind of game just yet.
-
Yeah you are right we were 1-20 at the three because Goddard/Milum started. Maybe we should of left Goddard in longer to hit some threes since no one else freakin could.
-
Zach Sowers was not a senior, left the program and went elsewhere to school. Even though Sallee is listed as a senior he has one more year of eligibility. I guess some of the Alumni answering the question, just a simple one, does KD start his seniors. Last year was a no brainer, it was only Dru and Rome, can't remember the year before, with Nick Meyers did he start him on senior night? I guess we will find out tomorrow.... go zips!
-
There are only 5 seniors, Sallee has one more year of eligibility but i dont think he is playing next year. And FYI Sallee has started in games before, he started a game in Alaska.
-
There are 5 seniors, will Coach D start them all tomorrow? What's his rule?
-
OWNEDLOL, I love the OWNED reference.Sorry dont agree on these statements, he kept them in the game and almost pulled it out.... you can't tell me you weren't nervous at the end when you kept hearing bubba for three.....
-
Goddard is not a scholarship player, Conyers is.. but yeah Goddard can't produce when he goes in either, result... bench. Zipwatcher is a wise guy isnt he.
-
He's healthy, he is in Dambrot's doghouse. He didn't play much when he was in the rotation did he? Right now when he got in he didn't do anything productive to Coach D, so Coach D is done right now with him. Remember what coach D did to Darryl Peterson? This reminds me of that.....
-
89-83 bowling green, 8 seconds left, Can't is going down!!!!! woot woot
-
I thought they were going to throw Goddard in to shoot some three's? What do you have to lose with that offense? Where was Conyers today? Never got in? We needed some offense maybe from the McKnights too, never got it.
-
Why wouldn't KD want B. McKnight driving to the basket? That's a good question... he played for few minutes against NIU, driving to the basket, was 4/4 on FG, was substituted and never played again. It seemed like KD didn't like that.Don't you guys notice there are certain players KD will play over and over again, no matter if they are doing bad or not, gives them chances over and over, then there are others that get one or two chances, if you don't get it done, you are done....You sound like an angry parent.Give some actual evidence that this happens "over and over."Observation, we just talked about it, take for instance Brett, gave him a chance, I may be wrong, but I think tomorrow he will not play much at all we will see. Then others, that make mistakes over and over (they are learning) get to stay in over and over again, not going to give names, what would that accomplish. If you don't see it, then you don't. KD just confuses me alot with his way he plays players.
