It would be foolish to allow thousands of fans to trample 6-week-old grass. Also, the grass area is just a small part of the student seating, which also includes the last three sections on the south end on both sides.Smartest thing with the grass would be to just let it grow, keep it closed off for September games and then allow people to sit there for the Homecoming game against OU. Then you have almost 1 month to "repair" it for Can't State game. Or, just wait until the Can't State game to allow seating there.

Two other requests=1: Commit date 2. (this one might be too greedy)= needs and gets. Something like...OL gets OL Needs1 3I know that is more of an opinion, but we trust you.

Excellent work, Cap Kang. Thank you for putting this together. I agree on adding the ESPN ratings, if not too much trouble. Even though I despise a lot about espn.com and espn in general, I do enjoy their recruiting pages, videos and links.

Dang, I thought I was going to break this news!!Wow, Hoobler and Cunningham!?!?!?Not sure how he is a 1 star getting those offers and being at St. Ed's. I expect that to change soon.More than at other schools (ie. BCS schools), I think it is so important for Akron to perform well this year to help keep these kids solidly committed to UA>

WOW..great post!!!! And great work pointing out Schottenstein. I have gone there once or twice (live in Cleveland West suburb)= drive to the parking, go to the game, drive somewhere else (way off campus) to get food/drink. No reason to walk to High Street in the February cold!!!

This site also shows Akron at MSU:http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa-10/big-ten...ll-schedule.phpIn addition, no sense in playing games at Browns stadium UNLESS it means we still have 6 at Info (which is highly unlikely to happen). Right now, our focus should be on opponents that will come to Info.NIU got Kansas on a 1/1.Miami got Missourin on a 1/1 (I believe).I think Toledo got a 1 for 1 with Navy (better than Army!).These are the kinds of games we need to focus on. No sense in having home games away from Info for at least the next 3-4 years.

I'm confused...Why do you ask a question about who we are playing, then say we are not playing some team. Is this some sort of test?

Ok, ok, ok. Beating dead horse BUT, BUT, BUT....I have been a ZN member since 2005, and I actually don't think I have ever seen a poll question addressing the topic. If there has been one, it has at least been a couple years. No need to have a bunch of discussion (again). But I really do want to know what everyone thinks.

Take it for what it's worth:http://ncaapalace.com/component/sports/akr...aaf/futureschedRumor has it we are NOT playing Kentucky next year b/c they bailed on us (which would make perfect sense). I find it hard to believe in year 2 of Info we would only be playing 5 home games. Since I realize FCS teams are more likely, I would like to see Villanova, UMass, Delaware or someone similiar.

Or a Friday or a Wednesday or a Tuesday.

The MAC takes another step towards insignificance
xu9697 replied to ZachTheZip's topic in Akron Zips Football
I think it is obvious that there is a definite divide btwn MAC schools trying to better their athletics and those that are sitting back doing nothing. Might be the same in some of the other NON-BCS conferences...can't say I know. -
Right about now, Akron should be offering 3-game packages:BLUEMorgan StateCan't StateEastern MichiganGOLDIndianaOhioTempleThen move to single game tickets come early to mid-August.

I was going to write her, started to, then you have to be a "member" of something before you can actual complet it. Not sure if it is anything that costs $$$, but I don't need anymore e-mails, junk mail, etc. Plus, I am sick and tired of ESPN and some of their crap.

Disgraceful. 2 new purely college football Division I stadiums for the first time in many years, and she mentiones La Tech and a scoreboard but not Akron. Nice reporting. Good research.

One angle that I love (not in your pictures I don't think) is from Exchange looking at the Fieldhouse= looks like there is no way that there is a 120+ yard field down there. I love how it sinks in and has the backdrop of the Fieldhouse.

Bought my tix today for PSU through the ticket office. $64 per, $133 for 2 with applicable fees.

Want to sit with Akron fans? Buy through the ticket office (should have the tickets available by Friday).Want to sit in the best seats? Yeah, go the scalper route and wait to buy until about 11:59 a.m. on that day.

Anyone know if he is going to be 100% for the opener. I thought he had broken his collarbone. I really like this guy and the multiple things he can do in our offense.

Check Out Patrick Nicely Saturday @ 7pm

Finally watched this game (DVRd it). First of all, fun game to watch with guys going to many schools that I am interested in watching/following.Nicely looks like the real deal. Yeah, he struggled at times and some of the questions about his game (underthrowing guys, some ugly passes, etc.) were there. But he has very good size, looks solidly athletic and threw a couple of darts. Give Walt Harris a couple of years with this kid and I think we will like what we see.Boucher= probably b/c of a lefty, wearing #8 and pretty darn athletic he looked like Bellisari. He definitely has talent as well. -
Succesful bball programs play at Pro bball arenas= Nova & Gtown come to mind (though at least Nova has an on-campus facility it uses quite often). Xavier built up its program in the 80s and early 90's far away from campus. There are numerous examples when it comes to success and b-ball programs and not being smack in the middle of campus. Marquette is a downtown university. Syracuse sits atop downtown, but there is still some intertwining. Yada, yada, yada...College football is an all day event. College basketball, ESPECIALLY IN COLD WEATHER AREAS, is about going to the game and most likely going to a restaurant/bar (or just home). I understand the possible counter-argument about the difficulty of students walking to a game in the cold & snow. But without a professional b-ball team in Akron, UA's team becomes the "it thing" for Akron (yes, of course, the Cavs are down the road). The arena can and should be built with the entire community in mind. Fact is, if Dambrot and company continue to build a great programs, students will get to the games.

I have to agree with you there. When I went a few weeks ago to pick out my tix and drove around, it just sticks out like a sore thumb.Let's remember, it is not just 6 games a year. Stadium should be used at least 3-4 times for HS football, perhaps football camps and the new dorms will be there as well. PC needs to be the first thing to go, but another 3-4 new restaurants, retail, living quarters would really bring life to that area and pride to all that care about Akron.
-
And I don't know the answer:When was the last time there were 2 Division I (FBS) teams playing in brand new stadiums? I would have to think it has been a VERY long time..like perhaps 1950 or earlier. This year, of course, Akron joins Minnesota with new digs.

I have spoken to those that are 19 to 35...so far, besides a few on here, the agreement has been overwhelming= disgusting. So, I don't think it is a generation thing.I think what they do as far as material, pads in the jerseys, etc. is great. And I guess the players have plenty of good input there. But, in reality, they are a team that is know more for their uniforms than what they actually do on the field.
