apparently not enough to excite you or you wouldn't ask. At least two signees who weren't mentioned elsewhere, the size of the class (27 +/-). As someone who had been looking at Rivals all day, I was impressed by his insight.

David,The whole list will be released by the University before Scouts or Rivals are updated. Skepticism is great as far as it goes. You shouldn't be surprised that someone(s) with close ties to UA would have the information first.

Forget about Scouts or Rivals. The Rasor blog has been updated with incredible information.

If we couldn't get Chris Wells...
KentZip replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
Based on a Google news search this morning, it doesn't look promising for McCoy unless he has everyone bamboozled. An official announcement is expected today, as is one from another top recruit. LeSean McCoy wasn't even expected to declare his intentions because he won't be academically eligible to start classes until next January. But the former Bishop McDevitt (Harrisburg) running back who now attends Milford Academy in New Berlin, N.Y., has decided to divulge his choice from a list that's been narrowed to Penn State, Southern Cal and Virginia Tech. -
Confirmed by Rivals.Akron picks up top receiver Pittsburgh Penn Hills receiver David Harvey was one of the most heavily recruited players last year and was ranked as the nation's No. 16 receiver. However, he didn't have his academics in order and was forced to sit out this season to get back on track. That has been accomplished, and he's heading to Akron. Harvey's family confirmed that he signed a national letter of intent with the Zips early this morning, giving Akron another major boost in what looks to be the top class in the MAC. Harvey is 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds. By sitting out a season and not playing a year, according to a Rivals.com policy, Harvey's ranking is one star level lower than what he was in the last year.
-
The reason Harvey doesn't list Akron as a choice is that he was a 2005 recruit, not this year. According to information I dug up, he went the JUCO route. If he comes here it appears that he will be a JUCO transfer.

Zone,I missed your reasons for your views on Jackson. Could you go over them? All indications I had were that he is the next starter after Getsy and that Hakes would likely be his replacement. Is Jackson a wide receiver candidate?

Zips Continue Recruiting Charlotte NC
KentZip replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
Apparently, Coach Brookhart has this theory that tight ends can become defensive linemen, offensive tackles and/or guards in college in addition to being tight ends. An athletic tight end at 260 who runs a 4.7 40 and puts on 20 pounds of muscle during his redshirt freshman year is probably a better offensive lineman than a kid who already weighs 300 coming out of high school and running a 5.3 40. He hasn't OK'd this strategy with me and I asked the same thing last year until I saw how some of them are now listed on the roster. -
Can't disagree with anything you said. I will add my thoughts about seeing this team in person for the first time this year. OVERALL, the team I saw last night is better than last year's team. The defense is improved, special teams is very good (well, kickoff coverage could be better) and the offense is as good as last years if not better. The offensive line is better. Even though they did not consistently open holes for the running game, run blocking overall appeared better than last year. Dennis Kennedy is for real! The "prevent" defense in the 4th quarter needs a lot of work (understatement of the year). At times it looked like 3 down linemen, one linebacker and 7 defensive backs and we still couldn't stop the big play. The failure of the defense in the 4th quarter made the whole game look worse than it was from a defensive standpoint. The "greatest running back in the country" was held to 49 yards on 21 carries. Kevin Grant is for real. Jay Rohr is for real. Jermaine Reid and Kiki Gonzalez are for real. Chevin Pace is a beast. Impressions of those on the sidelines: I can't remember but what the he&%( is the entire Glenville recruiting class doing out of uniform on the sidelines? Grades? Cloud, Benjamin and several others were sitting on the concrete wall the entire game. If it is an academic situation, I'm sure they feel like crap sitting out instead of playing in a game like that. Zach Andersen is huge! The recruiting sites listed him at 265. He looks more like 295 to 300 and no fat on him. Carlton Jackson looks like an athlete. See all of you next week.

Got my season tickets last week, but no parking pass. Now that I think of it, there was no invoice with the renewal, just the letter from JD. I sure hope this University can straighten out this second-rate ticketing process in the NEAR future.

Tight ends...... not at the Platinum Horse
