Since James Madison is still alive in their playoffs at least until later this afternoon and there is at least one recruit visiting campus today, maybe they will delay the "announcement" until supper time.

Latest List of verbal Commits for us.
KentZip replied to timmyboy's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
DT Jarvis Givins (2 star)(Gulliver Preparatory School)Miami, FL 6-2/295 Commit Date: 01/08/2007I know Givens shows a verbal on scout or rivals, but is he really coming here? I thought I read a while back that he was somewhere else.He is on the current roster at Florida Atlantic. Not very likely he will verbal to the Zips. -
Dear Mr. K.e.n.tZip,Were you at the game today?Mr. K.e.n.tZip and 3 or 4 thousand other Zip fans were at the Rubber Bowl today along with 2 or 3 dozen AK Rowdies (the, snicker, rabid student cheering section).Dear Mr. K.e.n.tZip,What was your impression of the Zips defense today?Mr. K.e.n.tZip's impression of the Zips defense today was not much different than his impression of the Zips defense the rest of the year. However, for the first time in Mr. K.e.n.tZip's memory he saw something he never thought he would see - a Zips player running away from contact. That's right, Brandon Anderson was in position to make a tackle of the CMU quarterback 15 yards past the line of scrimmage and instead ran towards a wide receiver as though to cover him instead of taking head-on hit from the QB. Obviously, when you give up almost 700 yards in total offense, it is a team effort and Mr. Anderson is certainly not alone in his general display of poor tackling.Dear Mr. K.e.n.tZip,This sounds quite a bit like a Terry Pluto column from the Wreakin' Urinal. Aren't you afraid that an unscrupulous writer for the local paper will steal this column and publish it? Oh, certainly. Dear Mr. K.e.n.tZip,What do the Zips need to do in the offseason to get better?Mr. K.e.n.tZip saw Paul Winters at the Rubber Bowl today and firmly believes that Coach Brookhart could do worse than bringing him back to the U of A as Offensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach.

Good News Concerning Will Flemming
KentZip replied to Blue & Gold's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
So much for an August 23 commitment. Has anyone heard an update on the recruiting situation for this young man? -
Mentally Deficient Bob Kitten Fans Say
KentZip replied to Baltimore Bobcat's topic in Akron Zips Football
Maybe JD should have joined your coach for a pre-game drink and chilled out instead of standing up for his players, right? -
As soon as Mr. Jackson can start dependably "exploding" out of bed to get to team meetings and "optioning" himself to practices, he will be back at QB. I do not blame JD one bit for benching him. He has had multiple chances and many warnings to get his head screwed on straight. I don't fault JD for sticking with a higher character kid who was tied for the 1st string QB battle coming out of camp.CJ7 has been the major disappointment on this team for me so far this year.

Recruiting tidbit - Lynell Payne
KentZip replied to KentZip's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
Apparently he signed with Cincy... per Scouts. -
Marlton (N.J.) Cherokee athlete Lynell Payne took his third official visit over the weekend, this time to see Clemson.“I’d give it a 10,” Payne said when asked to evaluate his trip. “I got to see everything I needed to see. From their style, to the team, and Coach (Tommy) Bowden is pretty down-to-earth.“Game day atmosphere is really the difference for Clemson (over other visits Connecticut and Cincinnati).”What’s next for Payne?“Those are my top three right now,” he said. “I don’t have a leader. I’m going home to sit down and talk and think about everything. I might take another visit to Akron, but I’m not sure on that.”

As someone else mentioned, here is a better analogy. If your boss gives you at least one second chance on tardiness and absenteeism at work and then tells you "The next time you are late or absent, you lose your job", how many times will you be late or absent? It is about responsibility and I applaud JD for laying down the law. Many on this board ripped him for a lack of discipline last year and I believe he is making the right moves and sending the right messages.

Article on Zips target Rich Bellhttp://recruiting.scout.com/2/681914.html

According to Rivals:"New Berlin (N.Y.) Milford Academy had the top prep player in the country last year with Cooper, a freshman running back at Miami. This year, coach Bill Chaplick boasts two big men in the top 10. "Charles Deas is huge and just dominating for us," said Chaplick of the future Auburn Tiger. "I think he'll be a great offensive guard in college, but he could also play defensive tackle. Offensive tackle Ken Plue has everything you want at the position. He's huge but he also has great feet. He moves very well and he's physical. He could be special." Kerry Murphy is playing both ways at Hargrave. A few other notables from Milford include running backs Darius Kinney and Deries Hodge and wide receiver Vincent Hill.

Near the end of the game they showed Robinson with ice on his ankle, not his knee. I know ankle sprains can be bad but a blown-out knee would have been worse.
-
Here is a summary of our team from another site indicating that Moore and Hill have enrolled at Hargrave. Also provides a good summary of how many we have retained/lost from each of the last 4 recruiting classes. FWIW.http://www.buckeyeplanet.com/forum/news/60...nformation.html

There were two lots in the same area, separated only by the train tracks. Both were on West 3rd and on the same side of the street. Luckily, one of my friends got there 5 minutes before me and talked me in on the phone. It was great to finally put some faces to the names here on the board. Looking forward to next week in columbus and the rest of the season.Could merit its own separate thread but.............The Athletic Department should be keel hauled for the ticket assignments for season ticket holders. Army fans were all between the 40's on the other side of the field. Non season ticket holder Zips fans were seated near mid field. With close to $600 spent on season tickets and parking this year, I was in line with the back of the endzone..... absolutely no excuse for that............

In an attempt to end the question of whether or not a Big 10 team will visit a MAC stadium, I watched Minnesota at Dicks stadium last year........ 'nuff said.
