The fancy punt formation deep in our own field really was stupid. Special teams really needs to keep it simple and not lose the game. Also...could they find a damn kicker?I pulled this out of the ingame thread where I posted it last night. Still pissed off at JD and the special teams coaching.Absolutely unimaginably poor coaching by JD on special teams. Where the heck did that 3rd grade punt formation come from? Totally bush league when all we needed was a straight punt. His handling of the kicking game is absolutely atrocious. Yanking the place kickers in and out when they miss has got both of them suffering from a severe lack of confidence. We make 2 field goals and don't have that punt blocked and we win 13-12. I really want JD to succeed but he is his own worst bullheaded enemy.

Just so I will feel better after watching that crap yesterday:Jacquemain? One word. Fie! I would imagine that getting a backups worth of snaps during the week affected Rodger's performance. See above. You can call me the Charlie Brown of Zips football but I was naive enough to envision a starting defensive line this year of Bain, Stewart, Henderson and Tonga. None of them have played and it sounds likely that Bain never will. I did see him in the game against Morgan State (I think) and I can see why he doesn't play when only semi healthy. The improvement I envisioned in this part of the team gave me the most optimism for this year. The absolute turd we laid on the field yesterday coupled with 3 consecutive weeks on the road will insure that we start getting back towards Rubber Bowl attendance figures very shortly. It seems like the best punter and place kicker are both sitting on the sidelines. As pointed out by others, the defense was on the field way too long.

Gonna have to respectfully disagree with some things and add my own perspective in little blurts:Penn State had a starting lineup loaded with new players looking to make an impact. They did. Walt Harris has coached against PSU 4 other times (if I remember pregame from Frenchy and Stams correctly). He beat them while at Pitt. If it was felt that we needed to be able to run against them, then we needed to try to run. I don't disagree with those who said the play calling was unimaginative but you gotta run to keep pressure off the OLine and the QB. Our inability to block the run had an effect on CJ's performance. Also gotta say that the Zips crowd at the Barley House was far below what I expected. There were empty seats and I don't call 30 to 40 Zips fans a major accomplishment.Given the chance to regroup at half, I think the Zips acquitted themselves well in the second half. Came within an eyelash of beating a top ten team 14-0 in the second half. There is no way to duplicate the speed and talent of an opponent like PSU in a training camp situation.Disappointed not to see Bain, Tonga, Torrence or Henderson in action. It would have helped, IMO. We are a MAC team and when that season arrives, I think CJ has more than enough to help us, given improved running game.My thoughts. Feel free to disagree.

I'm a little late to the ticket party. Ordered mine today by phone and was told we got the last 2 tickets in section 208.

CAMPER OF THE DAY: Rookie cornerback Brandon Anderson from the University of Akron arrived only last week but is making huge strides. He has even been working with the first-team defense. He’s a player to watch..................

I can hear Frenchy now.........."Zips ball at the 7 yard line. Bizzaro lined up in the slot. Nicely takes the snap, handoff to Bizarro at the 7.... he leaps into the endzone from the six. Touchdown ZIPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Several quotes come to mind............"Today I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth.....earth""You like me, you really like me!"Spent a couple days after work many years ago with the lovely wife at Wannamakers. Can I bring the little joey on the trip?Wave back at you.................

This is exactly what I was getting and the reason I chimed in. Clearly the pic you pasted here is unacceptable, well except for one alum.

Good God!!!!!That is HORRIBLE.How do you release something like that without a Beta group to test (all they would have had to do was ask us).Spread out over a country mile.Portions disappear as I scroll over them.I'll stop there.Take the site down if that is an "improvement".

Absolutely a job well done. Kudos to the Captain.

In looking at the Milford website, I was surprised to see that Chris Henderson only participated in two games for them last year recording a total of 2 tackles. Was he rehabbing from the auto accident? Any mention of that last night at OBC?

So... What time do the faxes usually start rolling in?

Didn't find any off the field talk in a quick search, but did find this:Henderson is a load to handle on the inside and though he appears shorter and stouter than listed measurables; he is very explosive and athletic for a player with his bulk. Almost impossible for high school blockers to defend one-on-one; he can beat you with brute strength and power or slip you with great foot and hand quickness. Starts with his get-off which is excellent. He anticipates the snap well and fires off the ball before most linemenn can even set their feet and blance. Very strong penetrater at the point of attack and forces the double team as a run supporter. Shuffles well laterally, can bend and make plays down the line of scrimmage with his quickness; he is a very disruptive force. Collapses the pocket with good power and leg drive as a pass-rusher; flushes quick hand technique as well. Our main concern when projecting for the next level is that he has relied on natural strength and quickness to beat most blockers; technique and room for physical development are both marginal. Shoots his hands but lacks the long arms to separate and keep blockers off his body; attacks the gap well, but we have yet to see him consistently disengage blockers by punching inside and pinning back the should while maintaining proper pad level; superior strength and speed on the interior will level off against college linemen. Diagnosing skills need improvement as well. We like his chase and pursuit from the backside but the motor can be inconsistent which is a red flag. With that said, this kid possesses a rare blend of size, strength and athleticism on the defensive line and could develop into a disruptive college defender with some polish and college coaching. Also, one article while he was still in high school mentioned grade problems. On the other hand, this blurb indicates there were other factors:As a senior, Henderson transferred to Harrisburg High. He was forced to sit out his senior year due to injuries he sustained in an automobile accident and he will enroll at Milford Academy in January.Henderson was named Second-Team All-Conference as a junior after notching 70 tackles and eight sacks for Bishop McDevitt. -

Zips Replace Lost WR and add two more

According to the two combined sources (Rivals and Scouts) we beat out these schools for our verbals:Jake Brandt - Illinois and CincyDelmonico - ArmyTonga - Washington (PAC 10 last I checked)Ball - New MexicoWeaver - San Diego St and Utah St.Obviously, we beat out the rest of the MAC for others like Nicely. Not bad in my book. -
Rivals list 6'3" 211 pound OL/TE Adam Steiner from Glenoak as a new verbal. At that size, I am guessing the next long snapper? Also, there must be more transfers than expected for these scholarships to keep increasing.http://rivals100.rivals.com/viewprospect.a...mp;pr_key=92384

Funny you should mention that......... from Scouts.comThe coaching shake-up at Bowling Green could cost the Falcons one of their prized recruits as quarterback Patrick Nicely is rumored to be visiting a rival MAC school this weekend. The rumored school is the U of A.

Sorry if this is old news and I missed it:Zips' rookies shone The University of Akron men's golf freshmen class -- which includes Stratford's Scott Landreth -- was recently rated as the second best recruiting class in NCAA Division I golf through the fall season according to Golfstat.com. Ranked by relative strength in the division, Akron's freshmen class impact rating was a 384.679, only behind Alabama (612.17). San Diego State took the third place nod with a 377.291 rating. Akron lost three seniors to graduation and coach Nick Goetze said, "I knew we had to bring in a talented class of freshmen to build for the future. I'm excited to see our recruiting efforts producing good results." Three freshmen finished in the Zips' top five, including Landreth. The newcomers had a 73.41 scoring average through five fall tournaments. Landreth finished second on the Zips squad averaging 73.45 through 11 rounds with his best mark coming at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate (Nov. 3-4) where he led UA to a third-place finish, Akron's highest mark of the fall season. Individually, Landreth finished 11th, carding two rounds of 70-73, 143 (+1).

Great find! He reads plays extremely well. Looks intelligent and fast. Hits holes hard and plays until the whistle. And that was a Junior year film!

Thanks. I sent them an invite to the club. There is a vendor's area where they can post.
