  1. Here's another link. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/news?slug=uw...uwire&type=lgns Basketball and football not on the same page?
  2. Ranked below Cant State!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
  3. Minor correction. He was CONVICTED of involuntary manslaughter and served one year in juvenile detention and two years in boot camp. He and two other high school teamates killed a man at a party. After another kid decked the victim, Marcus apparently kicked him while he was down. One of the other kids served his term and is starting at cornerback for Oregon. Chat room scuttlebutt says that Marcus is reformed. I say investigate him fully and give him a shot if the kid checks out.
  4. Get that Redhawk goo out of your hands. A quick trip to your site reveals 4 commits, none of which matches the three star players we have as commits.
  5. Mine was too. Notice the rolling eyes? He would be approximately the 8th or 9th tight end on the roster if none of them change positions.
  6. One Star, three Star, doesn't matter. As long as we get a 15th tight end to round out the roster.
  7. If I'm not mistaken, he is a transfer cornerback from West Virginia.
  8. Captain, The number of Tight Ends being recruited should be a topic all to itself. I've heard of drafting tons of running backs and turning them into linebackers and defensive backs but I've never seen this amount of tight ends being recruited.
  9. What a shame about Lively. He was all-state if I remember correctly.
  10. A tight end recruit from DeMatha High last year. Is he still with the team? I don't see him on any of the official rosters. Also, what happened to Plummer the running back? Thanks for any info.
  11. Thanks for the Rivals.com link. Much appreciated.
  12. Here's another link: http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=333&p=8&c=1&nid=1453024 Hope he's tough as nails if he is 160 pounds
  13. Three star running back from PA, scheduled for a visit to Akron this weekend, commits verbally to WVU. Hopefully we are still in the running for Eugene Jarvis. Link http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=333&p=8&c=1&nid=1159107
  14. I was going to tell him he couldn't start as a freshman. Then I looked at his picture, his bench press and his 40 time and decided to cut him a break.

  16. I won't even stoop to mentioning the name of the local rag that has no hint of last night's Zips win but has a front page article on Cant State. Talk about an agenda. Hope the UA Marketing department can convince it's corporate partners to have a little chat with the "wise men" in charge of Zips coverage. You could have written an article by simply watching the game on TV with a laptop. It would have saved them the mileage charges and turnpike tolls. Reakin' Unrinal
  17. At halftime of the hoops game last night, Steve French interviewed Coach Brookhart. Asked him if he would be staying up late to watch Hawaii. Coach indicated that with recruits visiting this weekend he wouldn't have time. Here is a link to the recruiting visits for this weekend. Also check out the 4 Star coming in the next week. http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=333&p=9&c=6 Welcome to Akron, recruits. You made the right choice.
  18. http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=333&p=8&c=1&nid=783359 Here is a link to his supposed recruiting status.
  19. Good advice to slow down. If the day ever comes that the program has been elevated to perennial MAC powerhouse with bowl bids and a new stadium, Mike Thomas will have the mandate to spend previously unheard of money to keep JD here. Would that keep him from accepting the head coaching job at a larger school? Maybe, maybe not. But don't forget that the money can be a huge equalizer.
  20. MacLORD, Thy will be done, in the Rubber Bowl as it is in NYC. AMEN. Dragging 3 other non-believers to the game. Be gentle if you see us. Two of them are Cant fans.
  21. I love the direction we are going in with our recruiting but.......... we don't seem to be on the radar with this 4 star recruit. Link: http://scout.theinsiders.com/a.z?s=333&p=8&c=1&nid=790352
  22. Doc, From the UA official website, 2003 season review, individual stats by game: rec./yds./td Cherry 13/198/1 Sparks 14/119/0 Irvin 17/171/1
  23. In addition to: 1) Andy Alleman, DL (Pitt transfer, from Ohio) 2) Luke Getsy, QB (Pitt transfer, eligible next year) 3) Terricko Marshall, DE 4) Keith Huebner, OL (chose Zips over BGSU) Add 5) Joseph Tuzze, RB/LB from PA
  24. And according to a PA paper, another transfer from Pitt...... a defensive lineman from Massillon. 6'4" 280 pounds....... Andy Alleman... (sp?).
  25. While we, as fans, will understandably be wrapped up in the success of this year's team, this type of recruiting is what will finally elevate the UA program to where it should be. With new facilities now and hopefully a new stadium soon, we are looking at an entirely new outlook on athletics. In 20 years, I hope that we will look back on this as the beginning of the Golden Age of Zips football.
