The 2005 Mac Championship Game The Snow Bowl Game. Saying goodbye to the Rubber Bowl - It's still memerable. Opening Day of InfoCision Stadium with 30 thousand people. The Idaho Potato Bowl win. And many more.

I doubt he'll survive. Marcus was Charles' right hand man. I doubt Charles made any decisions without talking with Marcus first. The perception would be that you would just be continuing the same problem. If one goes, chances are high, that the other goes too.

Yep, this is the MAC. If the school is within say 4-5 hours, it's almost always bus, or buses in this case. And thing of it once you get to the hotel, you've got to make sure that the hotel has all of their food supplies, staff for dinners, etc there as well. Not to mention any of the support staff on the Buffalo end too. you still have the logistics once you are on the other end. After all, it look like several major interstates are still closed (as of 7:00pm Friday), how would the team even get to the stadium. So, could they have left 48-72 hours before the game? Sure. But that's only part of what it would take to put on a game at UB.

Yep, talked with the Equipment guys, his original jersey was ripped up pretty bad so they had no choice but to put a different one on him.

I say, any donations to the Equipment Staff! They do have their own non-sport-specific restricted budget. These people are the ones who have always been there through thick and thin. They show up a well before (any) team event, and stay long after the rest of the teams/coaches have gone home. I trust these guys with not wasting money on foolish items, or items on a coaches whim.... What do you all think? BTW, did you know UA has only ever had 3 full time head equipment managers in their entire existence? The first one was Porky Dudich(sp?). He was followed up by Tex Ritter for 10 years (and who just announced his retirement from Ball State after 29 years - makes him a 39 year equipment manager), and Kevin O'Connor, the UA's current head equipment manager, with 27+ years at the UofA....

The equipment and the team(s) rarely leave at the same time anymore. The equipment has to be ready to go on the off chance a team wishes to come to the stadium for a walk through, or anything like that. There are also several times where the team is going to a completely different location than the equipment truck on the day before...

Those same player benches are still around to this day. They are at InfoCision stadium.

Good Point... about the "Something better"..... I guess the question becomes... how long to we wait? Yeah, that came across last night. I take it as a "maybe if I can't find something better." We can't even get a MAC OC to accept a job? Maybe no one wants to work for the leadership in Athletics?

I predict Tuesday. Reason being, if it is any one of a number of coaches discussed here... Some just finished up playing Yesterday (Saturday). So that leaves today to negotiate any final contracts, etc. Tomorrow the contracts would go up in front of Legal, HR, etc. A.K.A... It'll be a done deal tomorrow, just don't know when the contracts would be signed, etc. That leaves Tuesday to get the information out on the social media and anything else that needs to be done before the staff leaves for the holidays... Just my guestimate...

I don't think you will have to worry about that. But, if its a bad choice you will see the new topics "Who Should We Have Hired?" and "Fire TW Now" I think we'll see these regardless.

Seems there is a new name being mentioned over at football scoops. one Scot Loeffler, OC at Temple, and also a Barberton native... When also could be a reason why we haven't heard an announcement yet... He and PW are both playing their bowl games today... Interesting.

Reports are that he'll be a position coach, possibly TE coach. That being said, he'd likely be paid south of the $300k per our contract with him. From what I understand, we'd still be responsible for the difference. Or, if you were at Kansas, knowing he had 3 years on somebody else's nickel, would you go in and not pay him as much and let his prior employer pick up the tab? Thoughts?

I agree! If you search Google Images, you'll discover that the image used on GoZips.com is a stock image. There are ones also up there that could equally have been used for just about any of the coaches we will have or have had. Let's not read anything into the image just yet.

I got an idea, how about stepping up and offering to help the folks who are contacting the Alumni, trying to get them all together? (A.K.A, instead of "suggesting" ideas, how about helping), instead of posting these kinds of coments in a forum such as this. Perhaps you didn't/don't know, but besides the very limited staff at the UA, whose primary purpose really is supposed to be fund raising, there is a small group of VOLUNTEERS who are doing a lot of the communcations with alumni. I think you have some good ideas, but there also have been a lot of ideas that have already been tried, repeated, and failed. However, your letter in response to what was done has come across as very hurtful to all of their efforts and what the group of volunteers have been trying to put together. As far as some of your suggestions: Visiting the locker rooms before the Spring Game? It must have been a few year since you've been around the inner workings of the locker room before ANY game, spring game included. It's a working locker room! Players are getting dressed, coaches are working on getting their various players ready for the scrimmage itself, stretching, discussing various plays, etc! I'm sure you wouldn't want to take a young child into a locker room full of half naked men as they are getting ready for their game. And that's being generous. I know I wouldn't take my young daugher anywhere near the locker room when the players are getting dressed, scrimmage, practice or otherwise. For a lot of these players, they are fighting for a starting position, or perhaps a 2nd string spot. How about we give them the opportunity to fight for that spot instead of being distracted by talking with them when they need to be concentrating on what they need to make a good impression with their coaches. How would you feel if you knew you had to make a good impression now but were constantly being baddgered to talk. There are other times for that. Not before an outting such as this. Where the impressions the players make on the day of the Scrimmage are the last images the coaches are going to remember going into the summer break? Ms. Gossens has been doing a great job with what she's had to work with. As the word spreads, and like anything at the University, the money is available, and with people such as yourself ACTIVELY assisting these folks, then I'm sure the Spring Game/Events will continue to grow and be something we would all be proud to come back and visit. It's come a long way since the game where we had 20 whole alumni come back for the Spring Game to many times more then that now. Welcome home Alumni! Be sure to stop in and say hello! Yep. Practice/Camp have officially started therefor the cameras were taken offline. I was hoping they would aim them at non-team related areas so we could still watch the progress, but that's probably harder to do based on where the cameras are physically located on the building. Since camp is so long during the day, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't have the cameras back at all.

Actually this *WOULD* have been the fastest way........ But, over the summer, a new bypass opened up. My folks live down there and they said the by-pass can knock off 5-10 minutes. You have to go into West Virginia down to Parkersburg and take the Rt 50 By-Pass. It goes around Parkersburg and crosses the river at the western end of Blennerhasset Island and resume heading west on Rt 50 to 33. If you are trying to google it, good luck, The bridge opened up in July.We're going that route this year. You save time not having to drive 821 into Marietta. Do NOT take the route advised above, via I-70. Take the following route and I guarantee you will be there in 2 hours 50 minutes:I-77 South to the "Lower Salem" (Rt 821) exit.Turn right.Follow 821 to dead end at Rt. 60.Turn left.Take Rt. 60 into Marietta (a couple of miles) until you get to the Rt. 7/Washington Street intersection.Turn right.Follow Rt. 7 West about 20 miles until it merges with Rt. 50 West.Take Rt. 50 West all the way to Athens.Your drive time will be 1 hour, 50 minutes to Marietta, then 1 hour from Marietta to Athens.This is BY FAR the best and fastest route.Athens is a gorgeous college town. Enjoy it. I strongly recommend the Steakburger and Fries at "The Pub" on Court Street. Is is located toward the end of the college bar strip, near the corner of Court and State streets. Get a frosty aquarium full of beer for $4.

I'd add Navy versus UA back in the day where we came back in the 4th quarter and scored 25 points for the win.....

Absolutely. Throw in the equipment managers if you want. Akron has come too far to lose a game like that.Now why in the heck would you say 'Throw in the equipment managers?' Those guys take the losses just as hard as the team, espically since they can't control what happens during the 60 minutes during the game. I know several of the equipment managers, both current and past, and to say "Shame on the team and throw the equipment managers in as well" is a major slap in the face to them.The equipment staff did not lose that game last night. If anything, they did exactly the same jobs they do every week win or lose.
