Why get out of the MAC? We win the league and get an automatic bid every 4 out of 5 years. We can schedule a home/home series with just about any BCS school. Be to MAC soccer what Memphis is to C-USA basketball, and enjoy it.

I thought the "Patriot" Bowl was supposed to be MAC schools against one of the service academies. Hence we played Army last year.EDITED -- Nevermind, I just saw the note in the article. It's still stupid.The New England Patriots are in Massachusetts, as is Boston College. So I'll still call it the Patriot Bowl.

I know his team played in some very tough, high-level tournaments to begin the season. And the guy the Zips were originally recruiting from VES (Nik wasn't our original target) signed at Temple. So VES is not exactly CVCA. It is a pretty high-level program.

The #23 team in the nation came to BG today...they drew a whopping 1,400. I say 5,000 is too ambitious. They should start at 2,500 and see how that goes.

For those who might get the shaft by the NIT...A 2007 field that would have included Connecticut, Louisiana State, Iowa, Oklahoma, Missouri, California, Washington, Akron and Saint Louis, amongst others, would have been fun to watch.Hopefully we don't have to worry about it, but could be a decent boobie prize should we get snubbed in '08.

You're insane. VCU would be an upper-tier MAC program, easily Top 3. Buffalo, NIU, Toledo, Ball State, Eastern Michigan, BG, CMU, Miami...they would all swap rosters with VCU in a heartbeat. O'Shea would too, although his talent is probably better.

I ain't no compliance expert...but I recall hearing about all the North Carolina alumns practicing with the Tar Heels every so often, and I know John Stockton still runs with the Zags on occasion, so I think it is ok?Maybe it is only for summer practices, but I think it is anytime?

I'm sure it is a dream-come-true for him to play in Detroit. Hopefully it works out for him.

My son is in a 1st/2nd grade basketball league. We play games on Saturday, and have clinics on Wednesdays. Travis was a "guest instructor" at his clinic last Wednesday. He works really well with the little kids...he's a lot more personable than you'd think. I could easily see him coaching one day.

That is a solid post. Somewhere between the program supporters who think KD has never made an objectionable move in his career, and who think expecting something beyond 20 wins is flat-out being spoiled....and those "fans" who are chugging Drain-o because we're "only" 19-8 at the end of February, with a schedule that in no way shape or form compares to K.e.n.t., even though with the exception of one game vs. UNC is EXACTLY the same schedule as K.e.n.t...lies where we're at today -- We'll likely be 22-9 going into the MAC tourney as the #3 seed, coming off a win over a Top 25 K.e.n.t. team. We're as healthy as we'll ever be. And as hoopla stated above, we'll go as far as Ced, Dials and Wood take us. Which SHOULD be a finals berth...and that I EXPECT with be a finals berth...the same results of which all UA fans should expect from this team (spoiled brats that we are).

Unless you meant "NIU" your board credibility took a real hit with that statement. I'm a MAC fan. I've seen much worse. Did the refs make us shoot 28%? No. Can you please list the "disturbing" moves? Other than keeping Dials on the floor a little too long, he coached a good game. He can't put the ball in the hoop. At some point the players on the court need to make plays, and that didn't happen frequently enough last Saturday.Put down your Drain-o, put down the poison Kool Aid, and relax for a week.

I felt so SPOILED after the MAC Tourney and NIT snub last year. ALMOST as spoiled as when we lost to Toledo the previous year, blowing a 10 point lead with 5 minutes remaining. I feel so SPOILED when I look at those poor souls over in K.e.n.t. playing in post-season tourneys, winning marquee games, while I sit at home counting my "what if's."KD commonly uses the "Zips fans are spoiled" phrase when he talks about the slow-to-grow JAR crowds. But it is wholly inaccurate.Give Zips fans some respect. They want to win something of consequence. Winning 20 games in the MAC, with our soft non-conference schedule, is a good accomplishment. But, stand-alone, it is simply marginal. Until we stop choking in the tourney, until we start winning some decent OOC games, please spare me the "spoiled" term. "Tortured?" Maybe that hits closer to home.

I think it will hurt him that he'll be 26 years old before the NFL season starts, with some still-raw receiving skills. Teams may be weary of taking a year or two to develop him if they have a similar 22 year old to choose from.

Oh stop it! Jesus...we have 19 wins and we're 9-4 in the conference. We'll hit 20 wins this Saturday, and likely 21 or 22 when we beat K.e.n.t. the following Sunday. We should get the MAC tourney #3 seed. If you're a Zips fan, I think...just maybe...you might have endured a worse season at some point during your lifetime?Take Fischer and Quaintence out of K.e.n.t.'s line up for a couple weeks and see how their record looks. To have a season like K.e.n.t.'s having, you need to be good...but you need the planets to align too. We had a bad stretch with injuries and it cost us a couple games. It now appears the Wood, Ced and Dials are healthy...at least as healthy as they've collectively been since December. We're smack dab in the thick of things for an NCAA tourney bid. There are honestly only 4 teams that can say that right now. On a neutral court, we can beat anyone in the MAC. The sky isn't falling.

The answer is obvious -- "Win."With our existing schedule, if we beat Winthrop, Dayton, Ken.t and VCU, we're in the at-large discussion and knocking on the door of a Top 25 ranking. Since we lost all those games, we're relegated to winning the MAC tourney as our sole opportunity for post-season play. That, or maybe that new 16-team, NIT "leftover" tourney might invite us.

If that doesn't make the March 9th game a "can't miss" I don't know what does!Opportunity to knock off a Top 25 team for the first time in our program's history!! AND, beat K.e.n.t. at the same time!! :thumb: :thumb:

Overall, the game was refereed fine. It was hardly the poster child for a robbery. Did the guys blow a call here or there? Yes. But it is pretty weak to lay blame for our woeful offensive performance on them.Did you watch the Pitt WVA football game back in November? THAT game was the poster child for a robbery attempt. And Pitt overcame and won. If hit one more three in that game, the refs are a moot point. We had our chance to win, and didn't come through.

I know this is tough for Buckeye Fan to digest -- But this is not the forum to talk up OSU sports. Do it on Kenny Roda's show, do it on the myriad of internet sites. Write the Beacon or the PD. There is a reason why ESPN stipulates that the "away" teams referee the two arranged games. If the refs were irrelevant, they'd simply let the local conference refs do the games. And for the record - We lost because we shot horribly. Not because of the refs. OU's game featured refs from the same conference, and somehow OU overcame.

Trust me, VCU is much more well-known then you think. We are just coming off a year where we beat DUKE, took Pittsburgh to overtime in the second round. We have a Bob Cousy Award finalist for one of the top 16 point guards in the COUNTRY. A freshmen who is the leading freshmen shot-blocker in the nation and 10th nationally. The #1 3-pt fg% defense in the country. Yeah...a lot of teams just happen to miss a lot of shots against us. Try every game. I guess we're just lucky, or we're doing something right. Oh yeah and we have Anthony Grant who is only the hottest name on every AD's list and the 2-time defending champ Florida's #1 pick to replace Billy Donovan when he almost left for the NBA. Gimme a break, what has Akron ever done in hoops??? We average 6,400 a game playing teams like Towson, William and Mary, Georgia State, and James Madison. You think we sell out our arena because of our opponents? Think again, we sell out cause of the product we put out on the floor. Just face it, people just don't give a crap about your program. Your excuses are ridiculous, yoru crowds are pathetic, and the so-called atmosphere there was equally so. That was an AVERAGE venue in the CAA, sorry to break it to you. There was NO goal-tend, I reviewed it myself. You have one gripe, and that's Rodriguez's walk. But Wood was getting away with all sorts of stuff on inside as well. We played 5 freshmen on the floor at the SAME TIME against your team for several minutes. We recruit on an entirely different level then you.
