Coaching Lost the Game, Not the Players
GoZips88 replied to KingZip's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Thank you KingZip. I've got SO many freakin' thoughts running through my mind right now. What a crappy performance last night. Toledo literally ran us out of the house. We had no answer in transition or for their drives to the basket. Outrebounded 33-25 by a smaller team?! Preston with 2?! Who wanted that game more? TOO many LONG offensive droughts this year in our losses. No go-to guy on offense or defense. I hope Can't thoroughly kicks Toledo's ass tonight to emphasis how piss-poor we were last night and to show how you get it done. -
The Rockets were up by 21 at one point and had NIU by the carrots before doing their Jekyl and Hyde thing to turn it back into a game. The Rockets aren't very big but are athletic and seemed to shoot the ball well. We looked a lot better in the second half of our game and will need that kind of effort again tomorrow night to cool off a hot Rocket team. Should be a good one. Forget TV and get down to the Q to help make it a home game for Akron. You know Toledo will be bringing a bunch of fans. Go Zips!!!!!

Just got home a little while ago from the Western/Akron game and ordered 6 tickets for tomorrow night's game - WE'RE THERE! Time to tune in to the Buffalo Bulls audio over the web - beats Needle and the KNR guys.

Does Buffalo have a chance to beat Can't?
GoZips88 replied to Ryno aka Menace's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Call me crazy but I want the path of least resistance to March Madness and if that means the Can't girlfriend stays home (see above), so be it! We'll see them twice again next year. Don't look past anybody, one game at a time, and it doesn't matter who we play .... Go Zips! :macc: ... and .... !!!!!!! -
The board has been very quiet today. I think everyone is just ready to get it on tomorrow at 2. Not much more that can be said until we see how things shake out tomorrow. Wish I could stay for the evening games but life happens. Oh yeah, just checked and is still true...
-
Tough to beat an opponent three times in a season? Just food for pessimist thought ...See everyone at the Q on Thursday! GO ZIPS!

My son and I had the good fortune to sit right behind the Akron bench in Reno and couldn't believe how good Nevada looked against the Zips. GREAT college basketball environment out there and it appeared to us that Nevada is the real deal. Glad to see they're still going strong. I hope they stay on the home schedule for next year!

BG and NIU so low?! What else is there to do out in the middle of corn fields? OU - I get that - drink, go to game, leave at halftime, go drink some more. Definitely nothing else to do down there.

It's one thing not to peak too soon. It's another to at LEAST keep it interesting. It seemed like the Buffalo game was over before it got started and we never made a serious run. Can't was down by 11 or 13 up there, sucked it up, and did what they had to to win. If we can't find a way to score consistently AND not take a game off defensively, we're going to be in trouble up in Cleveland. The Can't game on Saturday is huge in my opinion - last chance to build any kind of confidence and momentum. I also want the 3rd seed - there's no denying Can't is hot right now.

Don't forget Temple (9). I'm sure the MAC office isn't too pleased. Sure hope the guys are doing their job in the classroom for JD and KD.
-
That's a damn shame ... like I tell my kids: Can't read, Can't write,
-
The playoff graphic on TV last night was based on "If MAC play were to end tonight, ..." and did not try to project what would happen the rest of the week through Saturday.
-
48 - 27 Can't at the half. Why even bother OU?!
-
Wow, that's a tough one. Watching all of the hoity-toity OU fans walk out of the JAR yesterday with long faces was a wonderful thing. I HATE Can't with a passion but root for OU?!?! I'm gonna have to sleep on that one ...
-
Bummer that Idbihi and Mario Jordan both fouled out earlier - especially Idbihi. Here we go ... come on Buffalo, a little help?!
-
Buffalo layup and Can't foul. Buffalo made throw to tie 93-93. Can't timeout w/5 seconds to go ...
-
Can't's Big Ugly made 1 of 2 to make it a 3 point game Can't. Buffalo ball w/21 seconds to go after timeout ...
-
Sorry for stomping on your posts zipfan 81
-
OT ... Middleton hit a 2 to tie!
-
13.7 seconds, Can't 81-79, Buffalo to inbound ...
-
Buffalo up by 2 with 1:12 to go ... Buffalo ball after timeout ...
-
We can go 9-10 deep and not lose too much depending on the rotation. Looks like that's a bit deeper than Nevada @ 7 deep? My son and I are flying out from Akron tomorrow afternoon and are looking forward to Friday night. I work for an airline and it looks good for stand-by availability out and back. Really looking forward to the game - sure hope Akron shows up with their 'A' game!
-
Can't is up on Buffalo 42-40 at the half. For those of you outside of the Akron area or unable to pick up the local Can't broadcast, you can go to http://www.teamline.cc/sportpages.html?tea...&eventcode=0021to listen to Buffalo's radio broadcast via the web. You'll have to enter an e-mail address and optional phone number but that is about it. Second half is about to start. Sure beats listening to Can't's Bill Needle!

Looks like Nevada is averaging 8100 fans a game at home. Their place holds a little over 11000.

Joe Dunn ... like nails on a chalkboard with his tinny voice. I LOVE homers but Joe has never seen a game he didn't think "Akron could get outta here with the win." Like the guy said in a previous post - take him out back and beat him with his trumpet! :chair:Stams does do a very nice job with football. :thumb:Are there ANY decent signals in the area that reach all of us? I agree that 88.1 WZIP is the logical place for Akron broadcasts. No problem getting it out here in Norton. I talked to someone at Akron a couple of weeks ago and he said WZIP controls their own programming and they simply weren't interested when approached to do the broadcasts about 5 years ago. Hopefully Mack Rhoades can leverage the recent athletic success at Akron in soccer, football, and basketball to get WZIP to reconsider. FM has to be the way to go - AM has too much variability.
