Chance of rain 60 percent.Ooh, latest forecast has bumped the chance of rain up from 40% to 60% for Saturday night. Still sticking with my 10-12K due to rain.
  2. SATURDAY:Showers likely with a chance of thunderstorms. Highs in the lower 70s. Chance of rain 60 percent. SATURDAY NIGHT:Mostly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of showers. lows in the lower 60s.10-12K-ish in the rain; 15-20K if no/very limited threat of rain. Casual Akron fans melt in the rain, remember?
  3. Damn it! I was the kiss of death again ...
  4. I wonder what this topic would look like if more of zipsnation were on-line instead of buying jewelry and $1 drafts at Panini's!
  5. As I told my son, that link should have been confirmed and re-confirmed leading up to the game. I think they owe us the Cincy or Toledo game in a few weeks!
  6. Their lines must be flooded - I don't get any ringing or busy signal - just silence when I call the Akron number. I'm thankful they are "carrying" the game but monopolies suck! Get on it TWC!
  7. W T F !!!!!!!!! This kind of stuff really pisses me off. Guess I'll look at jewelry and listen to crappy internet audio. Agree - NOT impressed with the new gozips.com.
  8. My son, daughter and I will be at the Can't game courtesy of free tickets given to us by a (the?) Can't season ticket holder. I'm not spending a dime on concessions 'cause I tend to agree that every dollar spent there is a dollar towards their program. Guess I'll have to pay to park though. I wish FSN was not televising the game. It's going to cause a certain number of fence-sitters on both sides to stay home. Oh well. Anything short of an annihilation will be disappointing.
  9. Thanks for the recap Captain! I planned a similar road trip with my son but had to cancel for a number of reasons just before pulling the trigger on plane tickets. Thanks for heading out on the road and representing the rest of us! The thought of putting Youngstown State back on the schedule makes me want to hurl We are showing that we belong on the same field as most of the other D1 schools and need to put 1-AA behind us. The expanded schedule makes that tricky but I'd rather play North Texas or Troy instead of YSU.
  10. Wow! Temple and Can't are doing GREAT in at least one poll! Sure would be fun if ESPN would sponsor an "ESPN Bottom 10 Bowl" game at the end of the year. The MAC might get a FIFTH bowl game if things keep going the way they are. Week 2 ESPN Bottom 10Just ANOTHER in the almost daily affirmations that
  11. One game at a time with Central at Central next. The only thing we know for sure ...
  12. NO o-line and play calling that doesn't seem to take into account WE HAVE NO O-LINE! Plays are blowing up way to early. It took holding to give Charlie the time to find the wide open Edwards in the first series of the game. How can we pass judgement on Charlie until he's given the time better o-lines are giving their QBs? It's great that Charlie can make things happen on a scramble now and then but he shouldn't have that opportunity as often as he does. Very frustrating up on the lake right now.
  13. Sounds like a return engagement is in order for the Ohio game in November (11/16)? I'm going to try to track down some posters and other stuff Malloy's management can use to dress the place up a bit. No conflict with OSU since the Ohio game is on a Thursday night. Great to hear so many Zip fans turned out.
  14. I think JD's name has just been added to a few more athletic director "watch" lists. I sure wish we could find a Frank Beamer that comes in, completely turns around a struggling program, and decides to make Akron the place he wants to be. I say it often - I HATE being a mid-major stepping stone. I recognize that is the type of school we are but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Great win yesterday and I hope we can focus this week on what we have to do to come home with another 'W' at Central. Would LOVE to see the Rubber Bowl filled and rockin' in a couple of weeks.
  15. Ya think the line judge had a perfect view of ball and knees or what? What the heck, it's been a great day ...
  16. It SURE is nice to be on the other side for a change! Here's what they're saying on their blog. I'm glad we're drinking our beer and not the ones crying in it! http://www.statefansnation.com/index.php/a...akron-nc-state/
  17. It will be interesting to see how the "Special to the Leaking Urinal" article reads tomorrow ... good luck finding the friggin' thing for those of you who read the print version. Maybe they'll embellish the "Special to ..." with a few choice pickings from "wire reports." Way to go ZIPS!
  18. Thanks PennStateMtnMan. I HATE the Domers and am sorry to see you guys having a tough day over there. Time to dust off and get ready for the next one I guess. I hope we see you guys on the schedule in the future. Good luck the rest of the way.
  19. To JD - Name your price and sign right here X ______________________________ .WAY TO GO ZIPS!!!!!!! Thank you ESPNU - what a great game to watch on TV. Akron highlight(s) showing up in all kinds of other college football broadcasts! I have to admit I was one of those thinking here we go again ... forgive me but it's the years of conditioning that is TOUGH to unlearn! Can't wait for next week.
  20. ABSOLUTELY the right call on the road against that kind of opponent. Get the checkbook out Mack Rhoades - we need to keep this guy (JD). Way to go Akron!
  21. Cancelled my subscription long ago. Do read the business section on-line and blow throught the sports to humor myself with the hope of finding anything to read. Pathetic. I know, I know, enough bashing but playing an ACC school and not get a mention on the front of the sports section AND below Can't coverage elsewhere? I hope they continue to die a slow death ...
  22. FYI - I called Johnny Malloy's in Medina and they do NOT have ESPNU. Each Johnny Malloy's decides which sports channels to carry. I called Chapel Hill again and a different manager confirmed that the AKRON/NCST game WILL be on Saturday at noon. If any of you are planning to go to a Johnny Malloy's other than Chapel Hill, you'd better call first (johnnymalloys.com for locations and phone numbers) to make sure they have access to ESPNU. Go Zips! Cheers everyone!
  23. Just called and talked to Steve at Johnny Malloy's Chapel Hill. They DO have ESPNU and WILL be showing the Akron/NCST game on a few different screens. They open at 11AM. GO ZIPS!
  24. ESPNU is included as part of the DirecTV's Total Choice Premier package ($99 a month) or can be added as part of the SPORTS PACK package. The Sports Pack package can be added to any of the base packages for an additional $12 (or less per DirecTV's web site) a month. I'm waiting on a call back from my father-in-law to see if he'd let me pay him $12 for September (NCST) and November (Ohio) so I can catch those two road cames. Cheaper than a road trip!
