Love reading other observations - thank you again Captain.* It was nice to see Kasparek & Poindexter involved in the action. BIG targets and underutilized (TE position) in my opinion.* Without binoculars the nose of the ball looked like it was touching the goal line on the drive late in the 1st half. One of the guys I was sitting with had binoculars and said it looked like it was an inch or two from the line. I have NO idea why we didn't let Kennedy and his helpers punch it in. If we don't get it, shame on us. Crappy decision to go for the FG.* I know it was asked elsewhere in one of the topics but can ANYONE explain why Turner Gill was going for 2 when Buffalo made it 31-16? * Glad to see Carlton Jackson get a chance to show us what he has to offer. BEAUTIFUL pass to Lindsay and pass interference was the very smart thing to do there. Miami stumble/fumble aside, Jackson looked pretty good on his feet when forced to move around a bit.* $4 for a pkg of 4 Zips face tattoos? I don't think so. Saw those in the Team Shop at the JAR and passed. Highway robbery and not a very good way to get the next generation Zip fan involved and excited. Duh!* Our "performance" at Can't and 41 straight by Buffalo against Can't are both head-scratchers. * Harvey seems to be the real deal. Speed/separation sure seem to make up for any lack of height. I wish we would have stuck with the passing game a little more than we did in the middle part of the game. Buffalo seemed to have trouble staying with us when we stretched the field. Oh well, all turned out OK I guess.

The early line is Akron -16.5/-17. I think that is high but I hope it is right. The potential is there but the consistency/heart/desire/focus has been hit-miss. I hope there is enough left there on the o-line for this stretch run. Going to need everything we can get out of those guys if we hope to run the table. Go Zips!

Sat right behind the Zip bench yesterday. Romeo didn't play much in the second half due to a sore ankle ("Coach, my ankle hurts!"). Talked to him at the autograph signing table after the game and it didn't sound like he'd have any problem being ready and able to play in the tournament next week.Talked to Chris McKnight's dad for a few minutes after the game. As we've heard before, the U of A coaching staff was a major factor in Chris choosing to play at Akron. Sounds like Chris has adjusted well so far to college life - his dad said he and mom didn't hear from Chris for the first 5 weeks of school. Brother Brett is anxious to finish up high school and join his brother at Akron. Agree with the other posts - Chris sure looks to be the real deal and ready to contribute, even as a freshman. Looked good out there yesterday.Cedrick Middleton - WOW! In great shape and looked great on both ends of the court.Looking forward to seeing how this group does this year!

Ditto here. Saw the upper-chairback discrepancy and figured I'd better phone my order in if I didn't want my renewal screwed up the way it was last year.

Ooh, my stomach starts to turn all inside out and I feel all bitter inside at the mention of the word "Can't." STILL can't believe what happened last month ... maybe Dambrot's boys can beat the hell out of them a couple of times until Can't comes to the Rubber Bowl next year.

High school stadium ... would go very nicely with our glorified high school gym they call the JAR.

Thank you MAC office

Ooh, I don't think I could leave. My loyalty and love for the Zips is far greater than my "dislike" (to put it mildly) for THE OSWho? Love all of the Akron discussion found here. It's going to take as many of us as possible to talk and walk "Akron" if we ever hope to build a solid fan base and tradition. May not happen in my lifetime but I've already got my 12-year-old and 8-year-old bleeding Akron Blue and Gold. Stick around and just use lots of duct tape when you feel the urge to explode!

I understand the three away non-conference games to start the season. That's just the way it's been if we don't want to play Liberty or YSU (I don't). What I truly don't understand is why the MAC screwed us the way they did. We made a good showing in Detroit last year, especially at the bowl game. Maybe they figured putting us at Can't was the same as a home game. I don't know but I put much of the blame for the crappy MAC schedule on the MAC itself. Thomas didn't have any control over that. Fact is, I love that we played Penn State, NCST, and Cincinnati. We played well enough at Penn State, nabbed one at NCST and certainly had a chance for a 'W' at Cincinnati.

Every one of those hoity-toity pricks I've ever worked with have been snobs...I hope we kick their ass.

Here's a reply I just got back from Rob after e-mailing him at his MySpace address earlier this morning ...Hi David! Everything is going good in Bulgaria. I have been here since August 30th. I really like it a lot. My team is pretty good. They finished third last year and we have a better team this year. The culture over here is totally different, everything is at a much slower pace, but I like it. Everyone over here has be really nice to me. I don't think there are any other Zips playing in Bulgaria, so I would say no. Thank you very much for the interest.Rob Prestonp.s. I also unblocked my profile so anyone will be able to see it now. I'd appreciate it if you would let zipsnation know.

I hope Andy doesn't follow in his dad's shoes when it comes to how players are treated on the court/bench. I think it's OK to let someone know they screwed up or aren't giving their best effort but Dan went way overboard at times. Best of luck to Andy at Utah State.

Crouch and Pace suspended for today's game for violation of team rules.

NC State was also without cornerback A.J. Davis for the Akron game. Different QB, starting CB, different outcome? ESPN didn't do Akron any favors at the start of last night's game when they zeroed in on Kennedy's elbow possibly being on the ground before the ball crossed the goal line. I'll keep the win of NCST 'cause I just wonder if we DID peak in week 2!NO doubt Amato is 'the chest.' The guy sure seems proud of his rack!

Now 2-3, 0-2@ Cincinnati - LMiami - W@ Toledo - LBowling Green - WBuffalo - W@ Ohio - WWestern Michigan - LFinal Record - 6-6, 4-4Unless the Can't loss REALLY kicks them in the ass, mediocre at best when all is said and done ...

I just noticed that The Disaster Channel has made Saturday's game an instant classic ...Took my 12-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter to the game and ended up leaving after the band played at halftime. STILL feel like crap this morning and agree that we really do need to win at Cincy before heading into the off week.I still can't believe we didn't show up for THE rivalry game ... very poor performance. Yes Can't played well and was up for the game but we're better than we showed. Very embarrassing ...

How about the one currently being abused by Domonkos?!
-
I know it looks like a sucker hole but I just couldn't resist. I got in at 3 a few days ago and again last night when the line dropped to -1. There is just NO freakin' way .... ........ is there?! I mean, given that and all.
-
At the North Texas game last Saturday, I turned to those I was sitting with and said we should check the soccer team out to see if any of them can kick an extra point or short- to mid-range field goal. I'm counting on enough TDs tomorrow to take the kicking game out of the equation. I sure hope it doesn't come down to a PAT or FG.
-
NO WAY!? You are giving Akron FAR too much credit ...36 - 7 AkronWe miss all six extra points, not just the four you accounted for.

BROOKHART MUST FIX KICKING GAME BY SATURDAY, OR?
GoZips88 replied to ZipAnalyst's topic in Akron Zips Football
I'd still like to think he can at LEAST make an extra point or two and come a little closer (actually make them?) on the shorter field goal attempts!? Give me a rusty Igor ... after 4 games I've seen enough and I'm ready to try something else for a while. -
JD leading the way, MAC's #1 defense, a very capable offense, Vegas only asking Akron to give up 3 and IT'S CAN'T FOOTBALL FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!! Yep, I'm not a betting man but I had to lay down $20 on this game 'cause and by WAY more than 3!Go Zips!
-
I'm sorry but it's all I can do to bring myself to take my two kids over to Dix Stadium on Saturday to support the Zips. If I also try to go over to Can't's board, I'm done for ... Always and forever ...
-
Pisses me off the line is that weak. I feel as passionately about Can't as OSU fans feel about "the school up north." I hope the Zips REALLY give it to Can't next Saturday at their place.

Same here. Pie in the sky right now. Wake me up if something with a little more substance comes along ...
