Looks like a great plan -- I want it.

If I can count correctly, the Roo is 0-7 in Kalamazoo in the Div. 1A era. Most of them were actually pretty close scores, a couple were not but nothing totally ugly (like @Miami). I hope JD drills this factoid into the team and exhorts them to end this travesty There was a stretch in the early 90's where we played up there like 4 years in a row, a weird scheduling anomaly due to our entry into the MAC, I think. We need to go up there and cover their receivers like a blanket and blitz like crazy so Hiller can be on his back looking at the sky all evening. Our first 7pm game of the season went well so here's hoping...

That's getting a bit harsh, don't you think?

The Plasma Center needs to be relocated.

Don't worry. I have a group working on a plan for the Mayflower. I talked to Mr. Testa and he likes my idea. You're going to convert the Mayflower into a 15-story Plasma Center??? -
If you could post some dates of upcoming events I'm sure we could all help get the word out. Does the band have its own web site? It might be a good way to get feedback & suggestions from the public, music requests, etc. (and sell CD's). I think the people on this board are just into the sport and not so much the band but for the general public it adds a lot to the gameday experience and helps pump the team up too.

Better yet, move it to Can't. The Zip Strip will be prime real estate when the stadium is built. I don't know who owns the building but I'm sure they will get a nice offer to relocate. If it's students they want they should move to the other side of campus on Market St. near the other medical facilities. It's definitely not needed on Main St. If nothing else, the University Park Alliance will probably claim it under eminent domain for redevelopment, thankfully. -
Also good to see another (pro-style) QB on the list...has anyone here watched him play?http://rivals100.rivals.com/commitlist.asp...ool=100&Sport=1

Sounds good, gotta love a multiple-sport star. I guess at 255 lb. he would be hard to back down in the post for a turnaround jumper. Welcome aboard, Adam.

I don't think that will be the case, I think they want to keep that area open for the "outdoor living room" and to not block Buchtel Hall from Jackson Field. Also, I recently read that Mayor P. said the U. had agreed if a new arena is built it would be located downtown...that was part of the fallout from the Quaker Square spat. I think Mack alluded to a desire for impressive locker rooms, player lounge, etc. in addition to the arena itself to help in recruiting. If the city pays some of the cost it will happen a lot sooner than if the U. has to come up with another $60M.

If nothing else, they could put the 2 schools under one administration and standardize the curricula but not change names. Combine any duplicate PhD programs and put them at one campus or the other. Then NEOUCOM/P could be brought in but I don't know if they'll kick Can't State & YSU to the curb on that. If the 10 year University System of Ohio plan goes thru we'll eventually be USO-Akron, USO-Cleveland(State), etc...this would just be a first step toward that outcome. IMO, if they really want to merge the 2 schools there should be some type of "free" express transportation link like BRT or rail so the campuses are truly linked together...this highway traffic crap has got to go.

If you listened to the pregame show yesterday on 1350am Steve F. asked Mack about planned facilities upgrades in which he mentioned they are thinking about what to do about the basketball arena. There were no specifics given or timelines or anything like that but it was the first time I recall hearing anything straight from the horses mouth that they are planning on doing something. I know, it's more "hurry up and wait" for Zips fans but who knows, maybe we'll get an arena announcement even as the football stadium is going up. Mack also mentioned the soccer stadium which I see happening pretty quickly since it won't be as big or expensive as the others. We still have a lot to look forward to.

I think the days of scheduling games at BE schools without a return visit are over now that the new stadium is underway. The new stadium will increase our options and negotiating power when it comes to scheduling and we're not building it to play 8 games per season on the road. We'll probably still go to the OSU's of the world for the big paycheck but not to the east coast for a mediocre paycheck. I would imagine we'll see some 2-for-1's but there should also be 1-for-1's with some schools that never would have come to the RB. We will need big crowds at the new stadium to keep them coming back which I think we will have. Those who think the new stadium will only be a temporary boost for the first couple years will be proven wrong. It will help us with the ongoing recruiting & retention of quality student athletes, everything else feeds off of that.

I wonder if it would be allowable to donate directly to the Buchtelite to have them send a sports reporter to all the away games, and/or subsidize their tuition so they could devote more time to in-depth coverage of the teams. We already know they could do a better job than the ABJ but I don't know if there's rules against "outsiders" directly supporting a student organization in that way.

If you ever do a western theme show I think this would sound great on the field and get the crowd going (music plays in background)http://www.magnificent7.com/You could arrange the percussion parts for as much drums as you'd want.

I think the best you'll do is the Live Stats page via gozips.com. Zips are down 1-0 at halftime. Come on guys, don't let those nuts steal one at our house !!

http://www.journalinquirer.com/site/news.c...id=569454&rfi=6After the 4-0 start, the next most important statistic in the early season for the Huskies is plus-9. That is the difference in turnover margin. The Huskies have run back an interception for a touchdown in three-of-four games and have created 13 turnovers to only four giveaways. Most importantly, the UConn defense is scoring points. The Huskies have scored 23 this season, three touchdowns and a safety. They also have several more forced turnovers deep in opponents' territory. The Huskies are on a run in the early season setting up defensive scores.

Sounds very cool...do you know when you will debut this new show?

Nothin like beating Can't and Can'tucky on the same weekend That's a long bus ride back to Lexington.

Does Toledo/BGSU sell out every time? I don't know. Does UC/Miami sell out every time? Is the MAC suddenly being held to Big10 attendance standards? At this point it's become moot. Future Can't at Akron games will be in the new stadium and will be 25K sellouts. Will BuckZip congratulate us in the future whenever we have a sellout? I don't know
-
But what time do the bandwagoners begin their Central Ohio Regional U. festivities? If they went to the Akron/Can't game they wouldn't have gotten out in time (as we know from the TV coverage). Most casual/bandwagon fans only follow the ranked teams they see on SportsCenter and whose programs have had a huge head start on us ... this has already been talked about. I once heard some people I know talking about a local kid who plays at CMU and they said "I think CMU is in the MAC-10". Casual fans don't even know the conferences outside of the BCS.
