I think the days of scheduling games at BE schools without a return visit are over now that the new stadium is underway. The new stadium will increase our options and negotiating power when it comes to scheduling and we're not building it to play 8 games per season on the road. We'll probably still go to the OSU's of the world for the big paycheck but not to the east coast for a mediocre paycheck. I would imagine we'll see some 2-for-1's but there should also be 1-for-1's with some schools that never would have come to the RB. We will need big crowds at the new stadium to keep them coming back which I think we will have. Those who think the new stadium will only be a temporary boost for the first couple years will be proven wrong. It will help us with the ongoing recruiting & retention of quality student athletes, everything else feeds off of that.

I wonder if it would be allowable to donate directly to the Buchtelite to have them send a sports reporter to all the away games, and/or subsidize their tuition so they could devote more time to in-depth coverage of the teams. We already know they could do a better job than the ABJ but I don't know if there's rules against "outsiders" directly supporting a student organization in that way.

If you ever do a western theme show I think this would sound great on the field and get the crowd going (music plays in background)http://www.magnificent7.com/You could arrange the percussion parts for as much drums as you'd want.

I think the best you'll do is the Live Stats page via gozips.com. Zips are down 1-0 at halftime. Come on guys, don't let those nuts steal one at our house !!

http://www.journalinquirer.com/site/news.c...id=569454&rfi=6After the 4-0 start, the next most important statistic in the early season for the Huskies is plus-9. That is the difference in turnover margin. The Huskies have run back an interception for a touchdown in three-of-four games and have created 13 turnovers to only four giveaways. Most importantly, the UConn defense is scoring points. The Huskies have scored 23 this season, three touchdowns and a safety. They also have several more forced turnovers deep in opponents' territory. The Huskies are on a run in the early season setting up defensive scores.

Sounds very cool...do you know when you will debut this new show?

Nothin like beating Can't and Can'tucky on the same weekend That's a long bus ride back to Lexington.

Does Toledo/BGSU sell out every time? I don't know. Does UC/Miami sell out every time? Is the MAC suddenly being held to Big10 attendance standards? At this point it's become moot. Future Can't at Akron games will be in the new stadium and will be 25K sellouts. Will BuckZip congratulate us in the future whenever we have a sellout? I don't know
-
But what time do the bandwagoners begin their Central Ohio Regional U. festivities? If they went to the Akron/Can't game they wouldn't have gotten out in time (as we know from the TV coverage). Most casual/bandwagon fans only follow the ranked teams they see on SportsCenter and whose programs have had a huge head start on us ... this has already been talked about. I once heard some people I know talking about a local kid who plays at CMU and they said "I think CMU is in the MAC-10". Casual fans don't even know the conferences outside of the BCS.

So Bill, how did the sales go today? Good, I hope. If you decide to expand the line, I would be interested in a Wagon Wheel keychain or fridge magnet

One of the unique nicknames in all of intercollegiate athletics belongs to The University of Akron. Suggestions submitted by students, faculty, and alumni included Golden Blue Devils, etc. The winner, freshman Margaret Hamlin, received a prize of $10 for Zippers - a $6 pair of rubber overshoes and a brand name of the BF Goodrich Company. Let's bring back the original Zippers overshoes that we're named after and make them in team colors with logos, etc. They would be retro-cool and everybody could wear them to the games (they'd come in handy in Nov. and thru basketball season) Then if someone asks "what's a Zip?" you can just show them your Zippers. Everybody loves 'new' footwear fashions and it would be something unique to UA. Maybe someone here can do a preliminary photoshop design. More licensing revenue for the department (and a great gift idea) !

And CJ got nominated on offense.Did you see what the Buffalo QB did against Penn St.? Yikes!OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEKDrew Willy, QB, BuffaloJunior - Randolph, N.J. (Randolph HS)Willy went 28-for-39 for a career-high 330 yards and a touchdown against 12th-ranked Penn State in a 45-24 loss. The junior signal caller completed 72 percent of his passes against one of the top defenses in the nation. The 330 yards passing was the second highest single game total in the Bulls’ Division I-A era. Willy led a UB offense that produced the most points vs. PSU in regulation in the last 12 games

Can't WILL have to prepare for both since Chris will play also. Maybe their coaches will teach us how to defend against a mobile QB
-
Opening at 4 points. I guess they're figuring we'll have trouble with Edelman again.
-
The winning prognostication. I hope you pick the Zips this week 74...!

There you have it. The Zips coaches do make adjustments. We just have to work with the material we have.

The same goes for dedicating someone to "spy" the QB, which a lot of people seem to think is the answer...it opens up other vulnerabilities. We need to recruit mo better DL's who can rush, contain and chase down a mobile QB. My contention is the new stadium will allow us to do that, starting this fall and I think the 3-3-5 will be scrapped in 08 or 09. I don't think this is a bad Indiana team either with the weapons they have. Hoeppner had them headed in the right direction and with the B10 looking a bit down they should make some noise. And don't forget that we showed signs of life on offense and now the other MAC teams will have to deal with our mobile QB, assuming we stick with CJ. It will be Doug Martin's stomach doing the cartwheels as he watches this game film and Can't may get a taste of their own medicine this Saturday.
