  1. Why would we appeal? I know the UCLA game is important for seeding, but it's better that he sits out now and resets the accumulation total rather than carrying on with four and having to sit out a MAC or NCAA Tournament game. Hopefully his sitting will also serve the purpose of deterring future yellow cards, especially those due to poor decision making. Don't get a couple stupid yellow cards earlier in the season and one unjust one at the end is irrelevant. Lesson learned?
  2. Not very good possession, but we played mistake free and took advantage of the few opportunities we had, which is significant being on the road in poor conditions. I'll take it. On to UCLA.
  3. Good video and decent commentators. Kudos to WVU. We need an insurance goal!!!
  4. We are fortunate to have the only two truly difficult remaining matches in Michigan State and UCLA at home. All the tough road games to start the season could have been disastrous, but I think it has been a major factor in determining the potential of this season.
  5. The losses accumulated by ACC teams against one another will be offset by our wins against much lower RPI teams in the MAC. It's nearly a wash. Sure, lots of soccer yet to be played, but it would not surprise me to see things at the end of the season similar to how they are projected here.
  6. http://www.collegesoccernews.com/index.php/articles/836-csn-s-bracketologist-issues-first-projections-of-the-2015-ncaa-tournament-field We are currently projected as the #3 seed. I'd love to get OSU at home again; they won't get lucky again and can't beat us with our improved line-up. If we win out, I think we at least get a top for seeding, which is all that matters.
  7. Downloading it now. Otherwise, I am relegated to following via gametracker and watching Wake vs. South Carolina on ESPN3.
  8. A penalty kick in the same minute for each team?
  9. This should be an interesting and unique match-up. Anyone know why my video feed might not be working? I am using Firefox 41.0.1 and my Flash player is updated. Is anyone able to watch online? If so, what software are you running?
  10. Given what I have read about the field and conditions, this is a good win regardless of how it was obtained. Way to grind it out! On to Santa Clara! It's also exciting to hear about all you fans/alums traveling to away matches. I attended the VCU match and was at UNC in '10. Hopefully both turn out to be the first games of National Championship seasons!
  11. Overall, a pretty good game for Zips fans to watch. I was entertained, we had a chance to win all the way to the end, and I can see the improvement. The field goal on 4th down was absolutely the right call. It gave us a shorter field to have to drive for the winning score at the end. Solid game from Stein in spite of the bad field position penalty at the end. As others have said in retrospect, the penalty inside the ten preventing a touchdown likely cost us the game. In general though, there are many things to improve and fix. I am convinced going forward that we are making progress and the team and program are improving. However, I am concerned that the rest of the MAC is also improved and we have not advanced much relatively speaking. EMU, UMass, Can't, and Buffalo are all respectable and could be losses. CMU just beat NIU, so I'm not expecting to win that game. Even though I believe we have shown improvement, I think a final record of 6-6 or above will be difficult and 5-7 realistic. Unfortunately, to all of you only impressed by W's, this season will likely not be our break-out year. Consider me satisfied for another Bowden season if we continue to be competitive in all MAC games and finish 6-6 though.
  12. Great win! Two shutouts in two consecutive games against two quality opponents bodes well for the post-season. The easing upcoming schedule should provide ample opportunity for the new lineup to gel before we face an elimination stage.
  13. Buckzip, yes, the passing percentage wasn't great, but we had a fully functioning offense for the first time in forever. I'll take that; especially considering a lot of those misses were long balls that helped stretch the defense thus opening up the run. We hit on a few of those deep balls too. If that's what <50% looks like, I'll take it the rest of the season.
  14. Overall, one of my favorite experiences as a Zips football fan happened last night (Pitt last year too). Great stadium and atmosphere against a good opponent and we were ready to play; you could see the energy in the players. The only glaring areas for improvement was more discipline in cleaning up the penalties and more consistency with makeable FG's. Great effort from Hundley and the defense in particular. I didn't even recognize this offense (thankfully). Great 4th down stop on the goal line. IMO, that was the play of the game. If we continue to play like that the rest of the way, I see at least 7-5 on the horizon. I was still upset about the Pitt game, but not any more. I just hope we add them to future schedules. The opportunities for fan travel and recruiting advantage make an ongoing series worthwhile. I think moving forward it could be very competitive as well.
  15. Great start on both sides of the ball. If we had this against Pitt, that would have been a W.
  16. Great win on the road! Hopefully the defensive changes shore things up for the rest of the season. We wont get far in the post-season giving up 2-3 goals per game. Hats off to the UCSB community for 7400 fans showing up too! Let's get PSU on Wednesday!
  17. Tough loss for NIU on the road at BC today. Good B10 win for BUGS. UMass giving ND all they can handle midway through the second quarter. I was counting on UMass being an easy win for us, but I guess that wont be the case.
  18. Check the link and read the sign: http://www.uakron.edu/im/news/school-of-law-expands-curriculum-to-asia Maybe this is why UA has a branding issue...even in official signage and public releases by the University, its name remains ambiguous and inconsistent. Hey, there's my foot, I think I'll shoot it.
  19. 21-17 Zips Our defense holds Pitt on the final drive of the game when they have to rely on the arm of their QB to go for the win.
  20. They are respectable and will be a Tournament team, agreed. However, we are the better side and they are definitely not 4-1 better than us.
  21. Rediculous that we are #26 after the start to the season we have had...all on the road nonetheless! Looks like a lot of credit was given to name recognition and weak schedules. Bowling Green being ranked high will only help our RPI when we beat them twice!
  22. I'd like to remind everyone that in 2010 (the NCAA Championship year) we inexplicably lost on the road at Cleveland State. I hope the ODU game is considered analogous in hindsight.
  23. I too feel bad for Conner, but Ollison seems equally capable. Hence, I think the diminished depth will hurt Pitt more than the loss of a single player. Can Ollison carry the ball for an entire game by himself against a good Akron defense? I don't think so. If our offense can get going, I think the Zips win.
  24. The ODU loss remains a mystery to me, but looking at the schedule before the season, I'd take a 3-1 start no questions asked. Way to put the loss behind us and focus on the next challenge(s).
  25. Great weekend results! Reminds me of the start to the 2010 Championship season in which we started with wins on the road at UNC and at Wake Forest.
