  1. Personally, I like what we have. Now that Akron has sparked interest in the program, I think it would defeat the purpose of recognition if we had all these competing designs. In the future, when the program is more stable, they could add some different designs to augment what we already have. Not to replace it.
  2. I was also at Miami this past year and can't believe there is a nicer football stadium in the MAC. Nice location, close parking for tailgaters and buses (our bus was right behind the stadium), awesome scoreboard, lots of brick and wrought iron, and an enclosed party area with vendors next to the stadium. I have been to Ohio, Can't, EMU, BGSU, and Miami. A small list I admit, but if you weren't at Miami last year, you can't believe how nice it is now.
  3. He must have been near death to miss his last college game.
  4. Hard to tell since I don't know what type of players the other teams have coming in but we should be one of the top 3 teams next year. I think with the guys coming back and our redshirts, we have a great chance to win the east.
  5. Nevada screws me again. Thanks for that 14 game winning streak and choke job in the NCAA.
  6. Nice season guys. You gave us a lot to cheer about this season. Looking forwrd to next years improved team. Thanks to the seniors who finished up their zip careers today!
  7. I'm glad you agree with me.

  11. I just love when people think they know you through an Internet message board! For your information, I've been a Zips fan since 1998, when my sister first attended the school. I started going to games then, came to UA in 2000, and have been to just about every home contest ever since (work conflicted at times). I have gone to road games, the MAC tourney every year, etc. I graduated in December and continue to follow the Zips for as long as I live. If you want to hold it against me that I was born later than you, that's fine. Whatever makes you feel better. Want to call me a loudmouth? Whatever. Again, if that makes you feel good about yourself, that's cool. Just don't try acting like you know anything about me or what kind of fan I am just because we disagree on something. I don't tell sgm405 or others how to behave at games. I point out that sgm405 shouldn't criticize the Ak-Oldies for not doing enough and telling them they need to do more. That would be regulating their conduct. I speak out for the oldies because many of them may not know this forum exists. I think the Ak-Rowdies do a great job at the games and I'm right there with them cheering on the team. This whole argument that the older fans sit on their hands is false. They may not be as demonstrative as the students but honestly,do you really expect them to be? They are and were great fans before this renewed interest in the team.Main Entry: op·por·tun·ism Pronunciation: -'tü-"ni-z&m, -'tyü-Function: noun: the art, policy, or practice of taking advantage of opportunities or circumstances often with little regard for principles or consequencesIf anyone exhibits opportunism on this board it is you msopher. You spread your caustic comments on our board with little to no regard for what comes out of your head. There is a place for everything and the majority of your comments would be more appropriate on the rockets bulletin board. Which tastes better, Addidas or Nike, or are you old school and you prefer Converse high tops?Paternalistic opportunist? pathetic!
  12. Cut and paste. I saw versions of this all over the place. I agree, better but still weak. Pluto did a good job today, but the beacon usually looks like the Philly articles.
  13. What a weak story. It's good to hear that Collins is not seriously injured.
  14. Hey, you're the one telling people how to act. There are people at the games that have been doing so for 30, 40, 50 years. You seem to think that you can shoot your mouth off at these long time fans because they don't meet your level of enthusiasm. The only thing I hold against you is your incessant need to tell others they aren't doing enough. Back off on the criticism, we're all Zip fans. I guess we'll never agree on this issue. I hope in 40 years some young grad isn't bitching at you.
  15. ok, Ill ask. What the hell is a crepe hanger?
  16. You have the wrong man. I have never even mentioned Ohio St. Go back and read all the posts. I'm telling him not to tell the AK-Oldies that they need to cheer more. I'm not the guy cracking on Zip fans for liking Ohio St. The first thing to do when posting is to know what the hell you're talking about. Jumping in in the middle of a thread without reading all the posts before it leaves you at a distinct disadvantage. You didn't even need to go that far to see your post is absurd.
  17. I'm not telling you what to wear. I'm also not trying to talk down to you. Your telling people how to cheer is foolhardy. In the first place, all you will accomplish with this dialogue is to piss off long time Zip fans and the ones that don't leave will tell you to piss off. So, you're left with a whole lot of piss on you at the end of the day. Are you part of some cheer police? Of course not. Did you act the way your parents wanted you to? I doudt it, I didn't. Can't you step back and see that you're at the wrong end of this argument. People can't be coerced into doing something they don't want to do much less be insulted into doing it.
  18. It is the teams first win in postseason play at the D1 level. What I find sad, is your need to try to diminish this win with your vitriolic comment.
  19. Miami 48Toledo 72Can't 79Ohio 83W. Mich 95Buffalo 96BG 100Very nice company the Zips are listed with. Nice find, you are InTheZone
  20. Now the shoe is on the other foot. You don't think people should tell you what to wear? I agree. You shouldn't be telling zip fans how to cheer their team on. GET IT?
  21. This years student section would not have filled one lower section this year. Maybe in the future there will be enough interest for that to happen. I doubt the students will be able to purchase those seats though. The athletic department counts on the season ticket holders to help with the costs of having these programs. I doubt the lower bowl will ever be turned over to the students. The University will need to build a proper arena to accomplish that. It also will be some time after the new football stadium is built, so don't try holding your breath, it will be a while.
  22. That's just it, you don't have the right to tell anyone to do more. You are suffering from delusions of grandeur. The truth is you're a loud mouth who has been a zip fan for what, one or two years? Keep on rooting for the team, just don't tell anyone what they have to do because it doesn't meet your standards! As for me, you have nothing on me. I've been cheering for the Zips since I was an undergraduate. Actions speak louder than words. And the ak-oldies you don't respect, show it with every sporting event they attend.
  23. It's not up to you or me to say what level of support is appropriate for the alumni or anyone else for that matter. The fact that they support the team, however they choose to do so, should be enough for anyone. They don't need to stand on their head to prove themselves to me or you. We aren't all clones that say and do the same things, but we are all zip fans and I am offended that this argument is even being made. I say that as an '86 graduate who screams and yells at the games. To each his own and I hope we can put this alumni bashing (yes, that's what it is) to rest. Really, who the hell are you to tell them to step it up a notch. I'll bet many of the oldtimers have been following the zips longer than you have been talking. Let's stop judging the ak oldies and support the zips.
  24. 22 wins. 23 is a new record
  25. I don't know what is up with you, but keep it up AG.
