It sounds like we aren't unusual in this regards. When is Akron going to get it's own thread on the BigSoccer board? That is one step in moving our program forward, because that board is the most read in American futbol. Wish I had the time to be the BigMike of Akron soccer!

Thanks for posting that. I just realized in watching this video that the game time changed from 8 pm PDT to 7 pm PDT...I'd have been very angry to show up late to Harder Stadium. Go Zips! I wholeheartedly second that! There is no perfect right or wrong answer. It's judgement, and there's no one's judgement I trust in soccer more than Caleb's. That doesn't mean that we can't have a discussion.I remember having this discussion three years ago in the stands at the U. of New Mexico. The father of the then-goalkeeper said "You never change the keeper during the game, it will ruin his confidence, and it doesn't help a keeper who comes in cold." I remembered the game three days earlier when the Hawaii women's coach switched goalies with 12 minutes left, thinking the game was salted by the two-goal lead. Result: A 3-2 loss. Mr Bush knew what he was speaking about.

So, explain to me (anyone eligible) how Notre Dame, Georgetown, DePaul, Seton Hall, Providence and the other basketball-only members of the Big East are "members". I am about the least interested (or informed) person on the planet on this subject, BUT I wonder, if the football schools all leave the conference, what happens to the rest? And could Akron join them either in a new Big East or some other name? I think my point is that UA might have more strength without football -- if that $$ were placed into BB and the other sports.

But....just the idea of having ANY type of shirt that says AKRON and NATIONAL CHAMPIONS should be enough to move more Akron merchandise in this town. An OSU win knocks down Louisville further in the polls, and also bolsters Akron's RPI.Hope for a win from a sports program that already believes they are superior to us, kicked a ball at the head of one of our players last year out of frustration, and has a coach that seemed to excuse it as something minor?I have them 2nd to Ken+ on my list of schools I like to see lose. And if they didn't have an attitude like they are God's gift to college athletics, I probably wouldn't care what they were doing down there.Sorry Skip, but we disagree again. How ANYONE could be ahead of the State University Bullies in the "dislike" poll is beyond the Z.I.P.'s comprehension.

Hixon would be a WR coach, we could assume -- if he and the program were interested. I have no idea who is the current WR coach, but I CAN tell you, of the position coaches -- what Akron needs most desparately is an Offensive Line coach! We have recruited good HS level players on the O-Line for years -- arguably the best recruited position(s) on the team, but they haven't developed into anything at all. I blame this entirely on the inabiliity of coaches to teach simple blocking techniques. Bring in a guy with a couple of years in the NFL (and who can teach), and you might make a significant difference in a year or two.

Wouldn't it be nice to see the Lone Ranger actually put up some decent #s against Div I-AA competition? Maybe even complete over 50% of his passses?! Akron 24-14

The merchandise is licensed by the university -- however, how much of a role does the UA take in producing what appears on shelves -- whether in the store, at the UA Bookstore, or the various Zips Shops on campus? There must be some communication between the manufacturer, marketers and the UA Athletic Dept. So, that said, if the football team sucks, but the soccer team is NATIONAL CHAMPS... why can't they adjust their merchandising/marketing to sell an alternate product? Do any off-campus stores sell UA soccer gear (e.g., National Champs shirts, jerseys...)? There are tens of thousands of kids and thousands of adults playing soccer in NEO -- capture that niche at least!
