Zips should be very disappointed with anything less than a victory. Up 0-2? Come on! From what I have seen Mustangs really are not very good, not to mention their record.
Yep. We're having trouble putting passes together, and connecting to the attackers. Especially second half. But, it can change in a hurry. Come on Zips!

In any case, SMU has tied it up at 2.
-
Did you know we have players from 11 different nations? Is that a school record?
-
SMU gets a quick response goal, from a freshman. 2-1.
-
Najem converts the PK for a 2-0 lead in the 25th minute.
-
What bowl does the MAC champion go to? Surprised I haven't seen any "What if WMU goes 13-0?" talk yet.

Seven minutes away according to the video feed.

I'm assuming this is a free feed from the Pony Express.

What a joy it will be to not watch a cell-phone display from atop a bongo board!

Congrats on the win.
If you're interested in reading a recap on the match from a UCSB perspective, check out my blog entry:
Beat the Bruins! Hope it gets picked up by PAC-12 Net.

Goals for Najem and Kahsay provide the impetus for a 2-0 victory. UCSB never were able to break down the D tonight. Fairly routine win! Next up, Tulsa Golden Hurricane.

Okay, I guess I somehow missed the whole first half and the scoreboard clock was counting down to the second half. My very bad, but -- there's still that delay of at least 10-15 secs between video and audio. Quite disconcerting!
-
Appears we have taken a 1-0 lead, BUT, the ONLY thing showing on ZipsVision is the scoreboard. Good grief! Why does this keep happening?
Not even audio!

For those so determined, TDS provides a highlights film. Just scroll down this article toward the bottom, where they talk about USA U-20 playmaker Jackson Yueill. He of the perfectly-drawn back-flick assist. Whoo!

Needless to say, this is a must win for Zips. No result means no championship. RPI points are already stacking against us.
So, what you are saying to the Gauchos Locos is, "No tortillas for you"? Hoping the Rowdies get their mojo going on the Gaucho coach's son between the posts. Go get'em Zips!

We have heard back from your athletics department, and due to other athletics events and an away football match, we're told they don't have the resources... to, you know, have someone stand there and pan a camera back and forth.
I guess I was naive to think that Akron's athletics department would lift a finger for us and that there might be some warm feelings toward UCSB fans after our support of Akron in 2010 in Santa Barbara. As a huge fan of UCSB soccer (with an affection for Akron), it's just so incredibly frustrating and disappointing to know that the infrastructure exists to watch my team but that the minimal effort to make it happen won't be mustered. I know they could do it, but they've simply chosen not to do so. Grrrr....
You risk making the soccer gods very unhappy.
Mike, this is ZipinParadise. We met @ your fave pizza joint in 2010. Apparently, the UA doesn't like the University of California system. The UC-Riverside complained on Twitter today that their women's team didn't even have a gametracker working for today's game vs the Zips. They took it out on my alma mater by a 3-0 score. Hope the Gauchos won't continue that motivation tomorrow. Well, at least, I have a shot at redemption in Big West women's soccer as both UC teams come to Hawaii this season. I hope to return to Harder next year with the Rainbow Wahine. It's on the way to wine tasting in Santa Ynez.

2016-17 ZIPS' STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK, PRESENTED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF AKRON, OHIO'S POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY
We're in the Post-Scarborough era, and we're STILL using that silly nomenclature??

Akron Zips will have significant influence in the PAC-12 standings.
In past years Akron claimed the BIG men's soccer championship. This year -- PAC-10 or West Coast champs? I think we could go undefeated in those games. Looking at the schedule, I can't help thinking the toughest part may be the trip in three weeks to Okla (@Tulsa) and Texas (@SMU). But that's still a ways off!
So, it sounds like no one here is going to Cali? Who's going to monitor LosAngelesZipsFan's attendance?

The best thing Grand Canyon has going for it's soccer program is coach Schellas Hyndmann, former MLS coach of FC Dallas, and before that, long-time and very successful coach at SMU. His son, Emerson BTW is a potential USMNT player, who plays for Bournemouth in the Premier League. GCU is the only collegiate men's soccer program in AZ, excepting JCs (Yavapai is the national power). And, regarding UCLA's Drake Field, the stadium is very poorly cared for, and is being replaced by a new facility that will seat about 3000, which is plenty more than the program (sadly) needs. I've watched many Bruins men's and women's games at Drake on Pac12 network, and I always see fans seated in temporary bleachers that sit alongside the pitch. Not sure what the state of the concrete stands is. If you attend the game this weekend, you can probably see the new stadium under construction. It's funded to about 20 mill by the Annenberg Foundation. I was really looking forward to the trip and seeing the UCLA campus, including the botanical gardens that Bill Walton raved about on TV last BB season, but won't be able to make it. I hope the Zips will be allowed back after this game. Coach Salcedo's team did not look at all good vs Maryland Fri nite, and I fear for his boys vs the nation's #1 ranked team, looking for a pay-back for last October. Of course, it could just be a case of their continued inconsistent play -- carrying over from last year. We'll find out after we warm up vs the Aztecs. Good luck to the team and our travelling section!

I have to admit, I'd never heard of Ben Lundt before the GU game! He was playing where last year -- in NAIA?!? Kudos to that Embick bellow and his GK coach -- whoever spotted him! He looks like a "keeper"!

I tuned in v. late. Was there ever a video feed? -- I never saw one.

Another cardiac finish. Adam, or Uh, Tyler Sandla scores with 1:11 remaining for another 1-0 victory. If every game ends that way, the process won't matter!
