Really looking forward to the gamecast of today's game.
I'm torn, as this is the first meeting ever between my undergrad alma mater, and my ex-military force and employer. Oh, Hell, Go Zips! The Falcons' American football team is beating Boise State, so that's enough for one day.
Also, back to the subject of our 2/3, Jimond Ivey. Hope he can take the court this p.m! Do you know that Jimond's mother and father have 7 children, every one a male? I calculated the odds of that at about 126-1.

We played the opponent even on their (dirt) pitch. The season is disappointing, but we should be proud of how it finished. Fought hard on the road. Next year is a must-advance season, but don't expect so much drama -- or injuries!

Akron's connection to Radford? In March, 1992 Mark Alberts set the NCAA career 3-point FG record. Within minutes, it was eclipsed by Glen Day of Radford. Radford High School is just a mile from my house in Honolulu. Named for a WWII admiral.

Ben made one nice save, but defense slipped up on CK.

W. VA women playing UCLA in the snow in Morgantown now. Bloomington perfect in comparison.
-
NCAA.com viewers giving Akron 55% chance of victory. FWIW!

Through 40 minutes, each side has 6 shots. Two of ours on goal to one for IU.

Just able to tune in & what the heck?! Are they playing on a dirt field?! How bush league!
Edit: I see I'm not the first to observe the field's less than desirable condition. Lol
That's very sad and hard to believe, as Armstrong was always one of -- if not the nation's best college facilities in the Yeagley era. Was beautiful when we played there in the 1983 tournament! Last time I was in B'Town.
-
Come on Akron! We didn't get up at 6 a.m. to fail to beat the Who-sers! Let's get that first one on the board this half.
-
31-26 Zips lead. Through 18 minutes, Akron has just one turnover!
-
Could have been 4 or 5 goals for the guys, but good goalkeeping by the Wildcat man in net, and lack of final touches kept it closer than it might have been. Did Villanova ever get that first shot-on-goal? Anyway, nice start to the post-season, and I feel good about heading out to play our biggest rivals on Sunday. Just beat those Hoosers.

Hinds again! Even though we couldn't see it on screen... 2-0 at last!
-
As much as we're controlling the ball and pace for long stretches, it's sure frustrating that we can't get another ball in the net.
-
Someone just tweeted that there's a Darlington sighting in the stands! Welcome home, Champ!
-
Well, finally Nick Hinds was able to put away in goal, after a long series started by a breakaway by Gainford. 1-0 Zips!
-
Hines missed another open net just after Gainford. We started dominating with around 25 minutes to play and have continued. Please, just one time!
-
Soares steals the ball deep in Nova territory, and gives to Gainford, who misses a BIG part of the net! Missed opportunity for Akron there.
-
Ten minutes remaining first half. Still no score. Fairly even play, though Akron is the better side. Hope we can convert before the 45 min mark.
-
Game on! They've played about 20 mins with no scoring. Nova has a good amount of possession, but no shots that I can recall. We've been more dangerous, and there was one potential penalty on a hand-ball not called in Villanova's box.
-
Didn't we beat the Hoosers at their place the last time we met in the tournament? Year after they won it all. I'm betting on Denver to the College Cup. And I'm the guy who picked Middle Tennessee last March! For whatever that's worth...

I hope that they are all correct.
I lived and worked in Bloomington, IN for 8.5 years when I was much younger. Have been to many Akron at Indiana soccer games. Those were of course in the Jerry Yeagley era so the zips are due for some payback.
Whooo! And those were the days before Jerry was said to have mellowed. They say that Yeags taught Bobby Knight most of his tricks! So, you got to see IU legend Angelo DiBernardo? I would call him the greatest collegiate player I have been privileged to witness. America's version of Diego Maradona. What a shame he was born too soon to help the U.S. internationally.

My thoughts echo a lot that has already been stated...
Kwan seems to be back in love with the 3. Not really what the team needs considering everyone else on the floor. My biggest concern is lack of size. I think some combination of Eubanks/Aa Jackson/Utomi need to log serious minutes at the 3. We don't need much scoring out of them when everyone else is more than capable of scoring. Just hustle plays and defense. No more than 2 of Ivey/Tino/Noah/Dunn/Josh should be on the floor at the same time IMO. Its a super small lineup when 3 of them are out there considering Ivey is the only one I truly believe is at least 6 foot.
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to year four of the "When is Kwan Cheatam going to become the power forward we all know he can be?" Show.
Folks, Kwan will not become that man this year -- sorry to disappoint! Kwan was, and is a stretch Wing player, who on rare occasion shows the ability to rebound and perform limited time offensively in the paint. If he is not shooting well from the outside, especially beyond the 3-point line, he has to have a short leash. This is not to be overly critical of this fine young man, it is simply to explain his nature. If Keith starts three guards plus Kwan and Big Dog again, he is trying to blow away the opponent early from the 3-point line. And Isaiah had better grow horns, since he is the only post player on the floor.

Wow! The cyberwebs are really running fast today! I just got this news right now myself -- and I'm in the host city. The tournament, from top to bottom could be the toughest in tournament history -- though you can never be sure with teams like Davidson and NMSU, which are at least as inconsistent (in e.g., # of consecutive 21-win seasons) as we are. We defeated USC like three years back, but they have improved dramatically since. I think Keith's troops will really have their work cut out for them.
Look forward to another throng of those same three rude Akron fans returning in 2017.

We play WMU again next Friday @ 7:00.
Shucks! There's another game then if I recall correctly...Hope my American Outlaws Honolulu watering hole has wifi!
How is the weather in Ohio? I saw a note that it was 26 degrees in C'bus. Is that possible? Brings to mind the first round NCAA game vs UW-Green Bay when we had freezing rain. 1979? Coach Dowdy hired a helicopter to fly low over the field before the game to prevent freezing. I hope the only thing cold around me this afternoon is my brew.
