    Growing up in Ohio, it's very easy to be an OSU fan. I've rooted for OSU up until my freshman year in college. It's hard to not root for them with how much media coverage they get. That's what turned me off as a fan of OSU. I first realized that Akron gets no respect from the local populous and then realized that supporting OSU only encourages the media to continue on with there disrespect towards my school. I'm an Akron student and my heart belongs to the Zips. If a school far south is causing the local newspaper to disrespect my team, I'm going to want change. That change comes with OSU loosing.BuckZip, I understand your situation and have nothing against you rooting for OSU. It's people like sgm that blows my mind. Akron alumni and students that root for OSU gives the Akron Beacon Journal and the Plain Dealer a reason to continue putting OSU on a pedestal.I'm sorry if my anti-OSU attitude offends anyone. The only way it ends is when OSU is treated like OU, Cinci, or any other Ohio college that's not local in the Beacon Journal or the Plain Dealer. Akron or Can't should always be first in those papers. This community needs to realize that Columbus is not the only city in Ohio with a D1 school.

    An Ohio State fan, a Michigan fan, and a Nebraska fan were walking along the beach, when they came across a magic genie. The magic genie said he would grant them each one wish. The Nebraska fan said that his father was a farmer, he was a farmer, and his son would farm, so he wished that the land would be forever fertile in Nebraska. The genie promptly granted his wish. The Ohio State fan was impressed with this, and then wished for a wall to completely surround the state of Ohio so that no Wolverine fan could ever get inside. The Genie granted his wish. Then, the Michigan fan said, "Tell me more about this wall." the genie answered "It is 150 ft high, and 50 ft wide, and nothing can get in or out of it." So the Michigan fan replied, "Fill it up with water!"

    1. The band wears berets when not marching on the field. This is French, and quite effeminite.2. The team colors are the same colors of the Vichy French -red and black. This is French. 3. The band plays French tunes. Pregame, they play "Francais Nationale Defile March." During halftime, they play the 1812 Overture simply so they could play the French national anthem.4. Their mascot is a bearded mime. This is French. 5. The mime is known by the of Brutus. Aptly named, Brutus derives from the Latin brutus, meaning "heavy, dull and stupid." 6. After a rare TD, the Ohio State Band celebrates in the gayest way possible. They give each other piggyback rides, band members celebrates by swinging a stuffed banana around and around. 7. Sweatervests are very big among French men. This is French. 8. Carmen Ohio has Ohio State fans mimicking the hand motions for Y-M-C-A.9. Ohio State thought so little of their Buckeye Grove tradition (where a Buckeye tree is planted for each Buckeye to win 1st team All-American honors) that they destroyed the grove and replanted the trees in 2001.10. Ohio State copied the "Tunnel of Pride" idea from Michigan, as it looks very similar to Michigan players touching the Go Blue banner. Oh, and this so-called tradition is 12 years old.11. The idiotic practice of putting stickers on a helmet.12. The most recognizable song the Ohio State band plays is "Hang On Sloopy," a mediocre pop song.13. The Buckeye jerseys are ... wait a second, there is NO tradition there, because they change their jerseys so often - two changes in the last two years.14. The Ohio State band's uniforms are copied from the Salvation Army.
