  1. That's weird, When I went up the the jar to find out about the OSU tickets, there were only 10 left, that was last Friday. Are you sure Rivals knows what they're talking about? You also have to have one student ID for each student so it was hard for students to buy tickets in the bunches without their friends student IDs.

  2. hey sgm, you can enjoy your job, your white picket fence, and your middle class lifestyle. There's happiness in that, and I could follow that path easily with a degree in Accounting. But I'm aiming for the stars while on this planet. People who are frontrunners are the ones that don't dare to dream. But hey, one day you'll read about a guy from Akron that accomplished amazing things because he dared to dream big. ps. if you're tired of seeing the section 8 people running in and out of the Mayflower, I've been trying to figure out better uses for that building. I'm planning trips to Chicago, NY, and Boston to get ideas visiting buildings about what would work in Akron. Maybe one day you'll work in one of my skyscrapers.and wOOt, If I was going to bet $100, I'd buy 12 shares of Ford.

  3. "your other schools colors" ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????You either go, went, or have ties to the other school or else you're a frontrunner. I'm not calling you a frontrunner but I've seen so many retarded Akron students and alumni wearing OSU clothing and every time I do, I laugh at them because they'll be nothing in life. People who think small are frontrunners. People who can't dream. People who don't see the point in rooting for there own school because they have yet to accomplish great deeds at a national level. People who don't know what overcoming adversity is all about. So be it. They can root for the winners, but they’ll always be losers.

  4. Brady Quinn came into the game with a look of confidence and made good decisions in a 2-minute drill. I'm not convinced yet either (and I really like Charlie), but in my opinion, Brady earned the right to be put into the next pre-season game with the first team. Crennel has to give him a look.
Ken Dorsey deserves it more than Brady Quinn.
  5. Another nail in the coffin for an Akron daily destined to follow 23 Newsday.
I have Akron News DVR'd and watch it religiously. It's a lot better than any of the other news programs, especially FOX 8. And it's the only local news you can get OnDemand.
  6. I live in Akron and get the PD instead of the ABJ. Part of the reason is that OSU gets more coverage than the Zips in the ABJ, the other reason is that I don't want to read a 2 page business section in the back of the sports page. The ABJ is a horrible paper under its new ownership. I've encouraged family and friends to switch to the PD, and I'm encouraging everyone here to switch as well.I can live with a Cleveland paper covering the suckeyes more than the Zips, but for a hometown paper to do this is unacceptable.Good luck finding the business section in the ABJ. When you find it, enjoy your 2 pages of crap. The PD's business section is actually pretty interesting. I get the Wall Street Journal for free through the University but I read the PD's business section first.

  7. it's not about being jealous, it's about taking a stand to show people that it's ok not to be an OSU fan, but a Zip fan. Most of the bashing comes after Zips fans see Akron get disrespect from the local community. Everytime Akon gets pushed aside in this area, it's like a stab in the heart to Zip fans. For some reason, people in this area think it's the standard quo to be a Buckeye fan. So when one of those lost souls finds people pushing OSU aside for Akron, the hope is they'll be turned to the light. The reason we bash OSU is because we don't feel the current attitudes in this area towards the Zips is acceptable. We just want people to get off the front running bandwagon and root for their local product. To change the attitudes of the people who think OSU is the only college sport in Ohio worth rooting for, that is why we bash!!

  8. Akron might as well be Cleveland's college football team, the city of Akron is a part of the Cleveland market . I honestly think this game will sell. Look for over 35kThe questions are:Will students get in free?Is the University planning transportation for on campus students? Why would anyone complain about this? The Zips are playing at Cleveland Browns Stadium. And for the most important question:Where will be the best place for tailgating?

  9. Brady Quinn is ticket insurance for the Browns. If Frye screws up, the fans will still have hope that Brady Quinn will turn things aroun in the future. Give fans some kind of hope for the future and tickets will sell. I honestly don't think the Browns have been persuing a championship as hard as other franchises because they don't have to in order to make big profits.I don't think Anderson has a chance because he's not a quarterback that will sell tickets. Frye, a local boy, still gives fans hope in him. Brady Quinn, also a local boy, will be tomorrows hope if Frye can't cut it.Let's be honest, people around here still have hope in the local boy.

  10. From an idealistic point of view , I cannot agree with you more. However, let's be realistic. The suckeyes have an enrollment of 50,000+ while the Zips are in the 20,000+ range. The suckeyes are in a major TV market, whereas in Akron, we can only get local news via the cable network. The suckeyes are in the BIG 10 (lots of dollars and promotion), while the Zips are in the MAC (few dollars and not as much promotion) The suckeyes are in a city with a population of over 750,000, while Akron is going to be lucky at the next census of having a pop. of over 190,000.I am not knocking Akron or the Zips, since I have lived my entire life here and have supported Zip sports wholeheartedly. I am just trying to be realistic. however, it is nice to dream.
I found this info on www.emporis.comColumbusPopulation730,657 in city and 1,936,351 in metro AkronPopulation210,795 in city and 2,931,774 in metro ClevelandPopulation452,208 in city and 2,931,774 in metro It looks like they combined Akron and Cleveland when calculating metro area. This is logical considering how close they ara and the demographics for both areas. The city of Cleveland and Akron needs to jointly work together in order to grow. The only news most people get in Akron comes from Cleveland news stations. Heck, I would rather read The Plain Dealer than the Columbus Beacon Urinal. The University of Akron is growing fast. With the new dorms being built on Exchange, you would think that it would be enough but they just purchased Quaker Oats. This tells me that the University is expecting to grow faster than everyone thinks. I honestly think that in 5 years, UA will have an enrollment around 35,000 taking a lot of Can't's future prospects. I think a UA and Cleveland State merger would benefit both universities. Though that merger might be idealistic, what is realistic is that the UA is growing.I think you're the one not being realistic here.
  11. This is great news. I hope that the ladies will be as good as the men. I had the chance to golf with Brad Wright during Akron's Accounting Golf Outing and he's amazing. Because of him, my team won.
