I don't think we'll beat them either. It seems like everyone really has their hopes up for this one. People predicted that we'd beat NC State and lose to Central Michigan, what a joke. I'll be happy if we beat Cinci and go 7-5. I guess i'm not setting my hopes up to get crushed.

15,000 is going to be hard to get unless GP1 buys 3,000 tickets for every game. I like who we play and think those games are great. We will probably have a great record. But those weekday games suck. And the weather is going to suck. Bad attedance in the making.

Coming off a great season last year as MAC champions, Akron's momentum will go unseen. With the first home game so far deep in September, the rest of the home games are going to miss out on decent weather. It's hard to imagine we'll get people to go to games when last year, barely anyone went to watch Akron play Can't. Not saying many people should have went, but it was a rivalry game that Akron was playing to become the MAC East Champion. I know the weather was extremly horrible but still, if that was an OSU game at the rubber bowl, it would have been sold out by the people in this area alone. 2 of those home games are on Thursday, Thursday!!! I know this is great for national recognition but it's going to be horrible for attendance. Even if Akron has a good record going into those games, I can't imagine both of them averaging more than 9,000 people. It's Thursday with a good chance of having horrible weather. I have classes on thursday until 9 so I won't be there. I'm probably not the only student that's going to miss out.I think Akron is going to struggle with attendance this year. No way will we average 15,000.

I know people that could use those tickets that are bought but going unused. I'd give them to the students that play football at my old high school. They'd love to go to an Akron event since most of them will probably end up Akron students.I think that's a good idea for the University. Create a cheap package that high school coaches can buy to take their teams to watch a college football game.I think Akron is going to struggle with attendance this year. Your wrong about this. If OSU was gone, the people in Ohio would look for another local favorite to root for. Actually, you could see every city college team grow pretty big. Toledo, Akron, Cinci, and maybe even Ohio would gain a lot of fan support. That fan support would get them to the next level. Kids in Ohio will grow up wanting to play for one of these teams. These MAC schools would become something bigger. You know you were wrong about that.

It's not that at all. What makes me unhappy is to see all these great athletes from Ohio dream about being an Ohio State player and nothing else. Watching Wells go to OSU when he grew up in Akron. I know OSU is the dream for the young athletes in Akron and the rest of Ohio, I just wish it wasn't so. I wish one day they'll say, "I'd love to go to OSU or Akron." Just like in PA. You'll see PA's top athletes list Penn State and Pittsburgh. Soon, Memphis is on there way to achieving that as well. Why not hope this upon Akron?? Louisville did it. Louisville not only did this, they probably passed Kentucky in popularity.Let's just hope it's Akron and not Cinci that becomes the next Pittsburgh, Memphis, and Louisville.

nothing was going to geopardize his draft status. He could have went to Cleveland State and you'd still see him get drafted #1. Why?? Because whoever he played for was going to win a National Championship regardless.

I think ZipsNation.org is one of the greatest things for Akron students. It really brings out your school spirit and makes you proud that your school actually has a fan base. It would be nice to see it grow though. I didn't know about ZipsNation.org until around January or December. I found out by Mike Rasor's blog. I would have joined a long time ago if I would have known about it. I bet there are many students out there that were like me, Akron fans that didn't know about this website. I was thinking of ways to help spread this website to Akron students,Ideas, Ideas, Ideas?????????Someone throw a ZipsNation.org keg party, that's my idea to help spread it around campus. Mike Rasor or someone should try and see if they could get an article in the Beacon about it. I started a facebook group, maybe I should start sending out invitations to everyone to join. Another good idea is for the buctelite to write about it.I really like the keg party idea though, and I bet no one could throw one better than Captain Kangaroo.

thanks for answering the real question. I know this board has a lot of OSU fans so I wanted to see what would make everyone more happy, OSU winning the national title even if that means beating Akron, or Akron beating OSU. I know it's my opionion, but I think there's a good chance that many Akron students would rather see OSU beat Akron and win the national championship. Maybe I was wrong though about the people on this board because I thought there would be more than 2. Everyone on ZipsNation puts Akron first and that's good to know because it tells you people here are die hard Akron fans. I just wish more students at Akron felt the same way.

it's very early, but fun to look back on after the end of the season and after the draft. Everything else has predictions, why not this. I just hope he stays healthy all year, that's the most important thing. Can't wait for the season to start so things like this fill the gap and help with the anticipation.

If OSU starts to lose a lot, will the Ohio State front runners still root for them? I'm willing to bet that some of OSU's support would die down. People would look for a new front runner. We all know who we want that front runner to be.

yeah, you might not. But start talking crap about OSU on here and you'll get some people angry. I honestly think that if Akron played OSU at the Rubber Bowl, you'd see 1/4th of the Akron students wearing OSU gear. Check out all the OSU groups on facebook. I started that forget about the bucks, go zips group, but I don't think that flies very well with a lot of students.
