Was curious after seeing the Miami OH/Toledo game last night. Here are the Free Throw Attempts for all of Miami OH's MAC home games... I would remove the "likely win" part. They certainly can win, but in the only matchup this year, Akron played their C game, Miami OH played their B game. Miami OH won by 3, at home, with a 20 FTA difference. In last year's title game, Miami OH played their A+ game and Akron played their B game; Akron won by 2. Miami OH needs to be 2 letter grades above Akron in the game for any real comfort IMO.

Adam is the "voice of CMU".

If the MAC is going to go as far as giving Miami OH every advantage this year (officiating, schedule, etc.), they might as well cancel the first 2 rounds of the tourney and just put these two teams in the title game to protect their interests.
-
I understand, and I'm saying they would still be in. The committee can't set that precedent. To me, Miami OH is exactly who the Dayton games should be for. If you're going to money grab, use those games as a "prove it" round for teams that otherwise haven't had the opportunity to do so.

How the Zips could get screwed Friday night
Let'sGoZips94 replied to 1981 grad's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Miami OH dropped confetti for winning their first regular season title in over 20 years. As hilarious as it would be to have that spoiled as a split, I'd prefer not to celebrate shared titles. Act like we've been there before and just get to Cleveland where it matters. -
Toledo shot 2 free throws in their game vs Miami OH. The Redhawks shot 14.
-
My assumption is yes given it's a concussion (correct?). They can be finicky but 2 weeks is normally enough time.

Buffalo with Freitag is different. Be careful what you wish for there, although all 3 of BG/UMass/Buffalo would be some of the most difficult 1st round matchups any team has had in years.
-
Regardless of strength of schedule, no team that goes undefeated in the regular season can miss March Madness. It would set a horrendous precedent. However, rewarding a weak schedule is equally disturbing, so the happy medium is to send them to Dayton as a "prove yourself" deal vs the middling P6s. A close loss to Akron and they may escape Dayton as a legitimate at large. However, a double digit loss, and their fans can quickly start buying tickets for Dayton. I also believe they may not make it to Saturday but we will see.

Good riddance
-
They won't end up in the NIT if they finish the regular season undefeated. The only hope for that is a loss to Ohio on Friday. Otherwise, at worst, they'll be in Dayton which, in fairness to college basketball, is where they belong no matter what.

UMass is going to beat OU, meaning I believe it's down to Buffalo and UMass for the 7/8 seeds. 1 through 4 is set. 1. Miami OH 2. Akron 3. Kent 4. Toledo Here are the main scenarios for 5 through 8 CMU will be the 8 seed if they beat Balls and Buffalo loses to Toledo. That is their only path to Cleveland. Akron only plays UMass if Balls and Buffalo lose. Otherwise, we get either BG or Buffalo. BG is either the 5, 6, or the 7 seed depending on their result and a combination of others. I'm sure I'm leaving out some scenarios, but it's utter chaos to figure out haha. Long story short... Akron's possible opponents: UMass, Buffalo, BG Miami's possible opponents: UMass, Buffalo, CMU

Toledo just had the ball down 2 with 10 seconds left and Kowalchoke didn't call a timeout. Instead, their PG dribbled the air out of the ball and turned it over with .1 seconds left.
-
Miami OH just traveled up 2 with 20 seconds to go but the refs didn't call it. Unbelievable.
-
Good win. That was strictly a survive & advance game.
-
A couple times tonight one of the guards has found a cutting Lyles or Mahaffey and instead of going up strong right away, they've put the ball oj the ground and hesitated. That needs to change.
-
The biggest evolution to his game from last year to this year.
-
MMK is so athletic. If he keeps working on his ball handling/shooting, look for him to be a real contributor next year. Scott doesn't have his shot right now, but Sharron certainly does. @clarkwgriswold So Eric is out of the boot now?
-
MMK with a dribble drive layup!
-
This is the perfect game for tonight. CMU is playing for their March lives so we'll get their best on their court. Need the Zips to use this as preparation for Cleveland, which we know Groce will be pushing.
-
I want UMass in over Buffalo as the 8 seed unless Buffalo can guarantee that Freitag will be back for the tourney. Buffalo is atrocious without him.
-
Not when this year, when I'm ultimately rooting for Miami OH's demise. Lol.
-
CMU's fate actually comes down to Ohio winning tonight and CMU beating Balls on Friday. Should that occur, they will be the 7 seed vs. Akron in R1.
-
A fluke 3 point win in that ancient craphole called Millett with a 20 FT advantage while Akron shot a season low(?) 25% from 3P is the only reason anyone is still talking about Miami OH as the last undefeated team. Just take it one game at a time and get me to March 14th.
