  1. Unless I'm reading it wrong, the 247sports.com page has the rankings on them. 2021 SG Class Rankings 2021 PF Class Rankings Note the schools those around our guys are committed to. Higher Mid Majors and P5s. Groce is recruiting at a high level.
  2. Two Top 60 guys at their respective positions in the class. Wow. Won't be long before Groce is picked off again... The good news is that means we'll be making noise in March. Two outstanding gets it looks like. The level of this program seems to be rising more and more with each commitment! Go Zips!
  3. That was more my question. It doesn't appear that the site has been updated to reflect this year's field, and although it reflects the COVID attendance changes, I wasn't sure if they changed the format or not. I was looking at Duquesne's forum, and it looks like they were added to Louisville's "bubble". Are there any other P5 schools in our region doing a "bubble"?
  4. I'm not upset with playing MTSU. Jermaine Marshall will be familiar with the area, too. Is this a round-robin style tournament? Or just these singular games across 3 days?
  5. It's Nov. 2nd - 3 weeks from the start of the NCAA season. Any updates or rumors on the OOC schedule?
  6. Cooper, Kellogg, and Offutt were at the forefront of OU's success during Groce's time there. Stevie Taylor and Ricardo Johnson were also a pain to deal with as an opponent. Don't forget, the year he left, he had Caris LeVert coming to OU before decommitting after Groce's departure and heading to Ann Arbor instead. Groce is a smart man - he isn't about to abandon the system that had OU on the verge of total MAC dominance.

  8. Zips by 4 or more. It's 2020 - crazier things have happened! Never forget...
  9. Offensive linemen are usually 275-325 lbs, but are some of the most fit people on earth. Weight doesn't always indicate conditioning/health issues. I remember seeing Anderson's highlights in the other thread. He moves very well, is an outside threat, and would be one heck of a challenge to move out of the paint or get around (assuming he buys into Groce's fundamentally-sound system of boxing out - usually). 6'8" 275 lbs and dribbling by defenders - yeah, I want him. Cadiz?! My goodness. My buddy has 100 acres of property in Scio, OH (Cadiz is the closest "big" town). I hardly have cell service, let alone hope of finding basketball talent down there. Could be a diamond in the rough (a lot of rough - like, miles and miles of fields and trees, rough). His AAU squad must get a decent amount of showcase, because how the heck did Green Bay find him?
  10. Well that's not a very good Social Distancing policy... (insert the vintage tomato-hitting-the-face emoji) Laugh, people. It's good for the soul. Go Zips!
  11. If we don't allow fans at football games, we have an excuse for not having fans at football games. It's genius. Akron Football - Social Distancing Before It Was Cool. Now that's a slogan. ______________________________________________________________________ Any update(s) on the schedule? Any rumblings?
  12. Damnit. Analysis likes this pisses me off. Why? Because it's great, optimistic (we are big at OL and WR) and wasted on a 6 game "season". I wonder what wins this season will mean for recruiting in the future. Will recruits take notice or will it be progress and momentum be lost? z.i.P.S. Very solid overview @Blue & Gold. Thanks for posting!
  13. So basically creating their own "bubble" for the OOC opponents? Any word on which high majors might pick up Akron?
  14. If only we were talking about Delino back then... The Indians might've forced Game 3. Don't mind me. Just a bitter Indians fan trying to bring humor on elimination day...
  15. You would think a more regional opponent would have had a bigger push to be kept (Akron/OSUcks being 2 hours apart) instead of keeping so many out of state opponents during a "pandemic". I'm nervous to see what kind of shenanigans happens with our schedule.
  16. JoJo Natson out for the year with a Torn ACL. Bummer. Explosive little guy that was going to be a nice weapon for the Browns. Stefanski sounds genuinely disappointed in this news.
  17. Dr. Steinbrecher proves yet again he is incapable of leading the MAC competently. He received good press and high praise when he was at the forefront of cancelling the conference basketball tournament, and figured he'd have similar respect jumping the gun on cancelling the football season. Then, when every other conference found their cajones to actually play football, Steinbrecher laid an egg and was the LAST conference to come back. The responses to the MAC coming back prove how far back in the Stone Ages the conference is. People are mockingly excited for "early week #MACtion". They are holding onto a nearly decade-old hashtag that became prominent during the height of Twitter, but has yet to progress with the times in marketing. They missed the bus on conference realignment to add any significant schools (or any schools at all) to grow the conference. They have become synonymous with early-week, lower-level football as a social media joke with empty stadiums on weekday nights. The fact that this was unanimous among University ADs and Presidents makes me believe the TV deal with ESPN/CBSSports was the driving force, so as long as the University isn't losing more money, I'm ok with it, but this is hardly a football season.
  18. Baskin said the same thing, but about the MAC in general. He was basically saying that the FBS already has 2 divisions within it, with the non-P5 conferences left without National Championship hopes. Apparently the MAC is meeting again today about getting a season going.
  19. The MAC is now the only conference to not have a plan to return, according to 92.3 The Fan.
  20. He is smooth. Not to knock Cheese and Banks, but I feel like our back-court will be very fluid this year. Cheese had a bit of Duvivier in him (bulldozer) and could be a bit wreckless, and Banks was more of a defense-first, pure SG on offense and wasn't able to really run the offense or handle the ball TOO well if needed. I think we'll be able to beat our opponents off the dribble more and create more opportunities, both open beyond the arc and down low for closer baskets.
  21. Substituting Trimble for Reece at the SF spot is probably the move. I debated it, but at 6'2", I don't know if Trimble will match up too well at Forward very often. His speed and strength should negate any size difference, though, so I think you're right about Trimble at Forward when going small. I also agree with Reece at Center. I forgot about Currie's shooting ability.
  22. Roster sorted by Position/Height. Class also included. Guard Loren Christian Jackson 5'8" - SR Scott Walter 5'10" - SO Garvin Clarke 6'0" - FR Greg Tribble 6'1" - SO Bryan Trimble Jr. 6'2" - JR Mikal Dawson 6'5" - SO LePear Toles 6'6" - SR Tre Edwards 6'6" - RFR Michael Wynn 6'6" - JR Forward Jermaine Marshall 6'6" - SO Maishe Dailey 6'7" - SR Camron Reece 6'7" - SR Enrique Freeman 6'7" - SO Ali Ali 6'8" - SO Taylor Currie 6'8" - SO Center Aziz Bandaogo 7'0" - FR ________________________________________________________________ Some observations/thoughts... - I forgot about Trimble and Wynn. Trimble is eligible after sitting out last year when he transferred from St. John's. Is Wynn sitting out this year after transferring from Wake Forest? - We are big and physical at Guard, with speed/quickness between Clarke and LCJ. - Speaking of Clarke, I think he'll be a phenomenal backup PG, even as a freshman. - Our 2 guard is LOADED with Dawson, Tribble, and Trimble (Wynn, too, if he's eligible, and I don't know much about Edwards). We will be creating a lot of matchup-nightmares for opponents at Guard. - Forward is the unknown with this squad. I think Dailey is the obvious pick to step into the leadership role for not only this position group, but the team as a whole (along with LCJ). Marshall and Reece will have to play bigger than their height (we've seen that already with Reece). Currie could be the key. - Aziz, I think, will have an easy job this year: simply develop. We've seen how dangerous this team can be when they go "small" and athletic, so I don't think we'll need to rely on a true-freshman 7 footer for TOO much. Having him for 4 years could be awesome. ________________________________________________________________ I think the Depth Chart looks like this... PG - LCJ/Clarke/Tribble 2G - Tribble/Trimble/Dawson/Edwards/Toles SF - Dailey/Reece/Ali/Marshall/Freeman PF - Reece/Currie/Marshall C - Currie/Reece/Aziz * If Wynn is eligible, plug him into the middle of the 2G and SF slots.
  23. 4 less games during the regular season. Do the Suckeyes luck out and get to drop us as one of their 4 lost games, sparing themselves a loss?
  24. Ah. Good point. That would make a lot of sense. Not to take away from Jermaine Marshall, but did anyone else notice the Garvin Clarke highlight at the end? He seemed to be pretty comfortable with the DI speed of the game in that clip. I'm pretty excited for this team, but 2019-20 will still have a special place in my heart.
