  1. I do apologize for the tone...it just peeves me that people but on "Zips blinders" in analyzing Frye.  But I do sincerely apologize.  With that said...
I wouldn't say blinders. I would say, "rose colored glasses". Yes, I admit it.Because I watched Frye show such heart pulling of Montana like moments (such as the Marshall game), I really felt (feel) that he has the intangibles to be a very good NFL QB. I remember when people where scoffing that he would get drafted, or drafted the first day.I was wrong about a few things. I felt he could continue to elude blitzers and 'make plays' in the NFL like he did at Akron. For a while, I thought maybe it was because Romeo and Carthon were trying to force him to be a pocket passer, but after they let him go a bit, I realized that the NFL is just that much faster. Not just the speed of the rush, but also for defenders to catch up to "forced" passes.I still don't believe he should be warming a bench. I don't think he believes that either. But again, maybe its those rosey glasses.
  2. The real joke is the people who actually believe Charlie Frye is the best QB on the Browns roster.  Sure, he was named the starter - because it's better for Quinn in the long run to not play right away.  But anyone who knows football and has seen both of those two under center that actually thinks Frye is the better QB is absolutely fooling themselves.  I'm not a fan of Quinn...trust me...but Frye's simply keeping the seat warm for half a season until Quinn is ready.  It says a lot about Frye when a career backup (Anderson) and a rookie with two preseason games under his belt (Quinn) almost (and probably should) start over him.
I've been watching football for 25 years. I guess I still dont' f'ing "know football".Once again, another opinionated arse can't be satisfied with stating their opinion. Instead, anyone who has a different one is "a joke" and "doesn't know football". Seen both under center? Not yet. If you think a few series in pre-season means anything, YOU don't don't know football.
  3. When I was at the game, they showed Frye on the screens, including pictures of him in a zips uniform and in browns uniform. Then some jackass about 10 rows behind me started yelling "Brad-eeee..... Brad-eeeee...."I normally have a tolerence for people's opinions, but I was actually starting out of my seat to go back there and physically disagree with him. Then I remembered three things that stopped me. 1) It is browns stadium, so I suppose shit like that is still relevant somehow :rolleyes:2) I always shake my head at morons who start fights at games :tomato: 3) I pictured myself in the 3rd district clink downtown

  4. Attendance: 17865
I'm not sure there will be a patriot bowl in 2008my thoughts1) defense was consistent. There were mistakes, but overall consistently the most solid aspect of our game.2) if it wasn't for those kick returns, I would have to say that special teams picked up where it left off from 2006.... piss poor. I guess I should qualify it. They guys who use their feet on this team are in 2006 mode.3) Offense. Too many screens and too much running around the line trying to turn the corner. Game planners must have feared the trenches. Spreading the field means putting the ball everywhere, not just horizontal to the sidelines4) I hope Army generals don't have gameplans that lame. 5) I think the marching band turned blue trying to hold that note for the flyover :rofl::tomato:
  5. Marketing 101. Basic supply and demand. If you have 100 people wanting Browns, Indians, Cavs, and OSU information, and you have 5 people wanting UA information, guess where most of your efforts will go?
COMMON SENSE 101Iraq War, Gay Politicians soliciting sex in airport stalls, and the anniversary of Princess Diana's death are all more interesting than an event at Stan Hywet, Blossom, Akron City Hall, or the Air Show, but they are LOCAL AND REGIONAL stories and you cover them anyway.... which the paper does, on occasion. You can turn on CNN or buy USA today for national/world news. You pick up the local paper for LOCAL MOTHERFREAKING INFORMATION as well as the regional/national/world stuff!!!So, cover the Browns, and even the Bucks, but don't pretend there isn't a University in town.
  6. People care about what people are told to care about.
ehem.....I don't think people are that robotic or zombie-solider-like, but overall, I agree. There are a lot of people who only jump on a bandwagon when things are going VERY well.... and there are also a lot of people who are content to ignor a team that everyone else is ignoring. In other words, lack of interest is a bandwagon phenomenon as well. If the ABJ consistently shows lack of excitement (via lack of coverage) for the zips, the populous will have nothing to cue their interest. The lack of coverage may not be intentional or conspiratorial, BUT it's pretty freakin retarded when the press and media can't figure out that they are an integral focusing tool in how a community views itself and what is happening. It's like when a member of the press says "we cover what people want to hear about" when they know damned well that people don't care to hear about something that rarely gets covered. "Interest" in a story has a snowball effect. If you cover it, people take interest. If people take interest, the media covers it.Unfortunately, the snowball has to start with the zips. The ABJ will not take the initiative. Winning the MAC east 2 years ago was not enough. The motor city bowl needed to be won. That's the sad reality. Media people are bandwagon jumpers. They will focus on the buckeyes because they are frontrunning fans just like everyone else.
  7. interesting.... at first it looked to me like polo without the horses....but really, it seems like the main point is that you are allowed to use your hands to CATCH or CARRY the ball, but you cannot THROW with the hands, you must use the hurler (sp?). Everything else is pretty generic FIELD SPORT with goals.

  8. beer pool
No way, that wouldn't work. The beer would be gone before the pre game even started. :D
well, of course, the beer slide would drain into the beer pool, and our beverage sponsor would be responsible for keeping the beer levels up.Me personally, I think I'd rather pay $5 for a cool clean brew.
  9. BZ- You're welcome. What I'm really asking for is that a-holes like BZ, ZipGrad01 and SGM get the hell off the board. GO AWAY. There are plenty of tosu boards to post on....Go and "defend" "your" team someplace else.BTW, yes -A good-faith negotiation to increase the payout was in order since neither AD signed the deal and the payout was under fair market value. And if they wouldn't renegotiate, Mack should have gotten out of the deal.
wow!Differing opinions are censored here.If that's true, I will leave myself (and I have no desire to defend OSU. It's the principle)
  10. When I drive in N.Summit Co. I pick up 1350 better than I pick up 640.The FCC is screwy. If 1350 has to NULL zone the SouthWest, then there is probably a competing station on that frequency that direction (columbus, dayton?).What sux when that happens is you have to engineer your broadcast antenna setup to acocmplish this.

  11. Not that it has anything to do with your original post but what stands out here to me is that Can't is being paid $650k to our $375k to travel to that school in Columbus. :screwks::screwks:
THat's what I was pissed about when I saw that in the paper this morning. WTF!
  12. how far has this program come?A long way.  I checked the current roster and none of these guys are still with the team.  Whats wrong with KD that he can't keep guys with the program?
kekeke! Goshdarn free agency is teh ruination of schportz
  13. I was at the bar, and not paying 100% attention to that game, but I found it amazing how WIDE OPEN the receivers were for quinny boy. Prevent defense made him look like a savior. This is exactly what the browns, the media, and the fans wanted. There's no stopping it now. The national media is on his band wagon as well.I believe Brady Quinn will come crashing to earth, but the writing is on the wall. Everyone want's Brady, and the media will be apologists for him when he has bad games. "Give him time. He's a rookie. He's bound to have bad games. Blah Blah Blah."Sorry, it's pretty much over for Frye no matter how he plays, unless Quinn gets injured. I predict Quinn will be starting by week5, possibly sooner.

  14. hey flagship boy, if you wanna send students all across the state to universities that they shouldn't have to, then we can also send professors and resources to re-distribute the programs to all of the major universities so that they each offer a similar number and level of programs. If you are for stripping programs from universities all across the state, then you should sacrifice programs at your beloved "flagship" in order to evenly distribute programs around the state.I still say, you are all about crowning one state school, and screwing the rest. You have NONE of the altruistic and naively noble goals that you claim to. This is nothing more than a camplaign to protect tOSU from up and coming universities. If it's not, then agree to make sacrificies. Stop talking outa both sides of your mouth.
