  1. whaddaya gonna do? Seriously, it's just some chump reporter. He can't be arsed to do homework on how the school abbreviates. You gotta remember, the goofball isn't trying to pimp the zips. He's trying to write about something that he thinks is clever. He prolly pat himself on the back for what he thought was the first big story to "expose" the zips and the Lebron connection.Forget about it. You can't complain. It's futile.

  2. They are a newspaper that must judge the interests of ALL their readers.
That concept if self fulfilling, though. This isn't knock on the Beacon, but an observation on the Media in general. If they only report Ohio State stories, or only Can't State stories, then that is all the public wil be interested in because it is the only thing they know they should be interested in.
Yeah, the media is always consciously or subconsciously aware of this. For proof, all you gotta do is look at social issues or political topics. It's scare when some media outlet or reporter isn't trying to cram issues down the public's throat that THEY think the people should know about and/or take a more activist position on. Yet somehow, when it comes to sports, they fain "oh, the public aren't interested, why should we force it on them?" Well, I call Bull! You know damned well that you generate the interest. It is YOU (the paper) who doesn't have the interest.Like it was alluded to earlier in this thread. They were probably holding out for a grease job... either something on the down-low, or atleast the purchase of some ad space. Once that happens, oh, then the wheels of interest start turning. Unless of course, the public gets interested on it's own, then the paper begrudgingly has to put out.
  3. Screw the Akron/Can't final! We had a chance to do it last year and we blew it. This year is all about the Zips! We're gonna roll over them in the semi's, then destroy our championship opponent.
yeah, the game will be 93.234% as exciting in the semis as it would be in the finals. You know your ass is going to ready for a fight the morning of the game regardless of which day it is... you wont even need a coffee.
  4. the regional media are losers. They have a loser mentality.I'll bet you euros to donuts that someone proposed thease features earlier this year and all the losers came to the conclusion that they didn't want to dedicate space to the zips in case they fell on their face this year and the paper would look like it backed a goat. Now, it's safe enough to start printing things.

  6. Zips81,The fact is, people won't take the Zips seriously until they beat someone on the road. They'll have their chance in the next couple of weeks, but they failed at Toledo.
Typical defensiveness. You feel like shit, so you deflect it by trying to take your perceived threat down some notches.I don't see a lot of gloating here, as you would claim, or anyone declaring the Zips NCAA champs
  7. STOMP!!!! :chair: :chair: :chair: :chair: Wow! and I half thought about going straight down to the JAR after work instead of coming home and shoveling snow (for hours and hours). I come inside to find that the zips are leading 70 - 45! Wooo!

  8. My prediciton, it stays close and goes back and forth, and at the half, 31 to 30.Zip break out late in 3rd quarter and win it 74 to 66
Hey Zen, I think you mean early in the 2nd half, right? ;)
oops, yeah. :blush:Damn, I hate not having admin privaledges here. On my sites I could edit my post and then edit quote in your post. History revised.

Wow, he has Akron 23?This just goes to my theory last week, that people only remember us when we beat them. That's why the guy from philly ranked Akron, because we beat Temple in the NIT last year. Now, I know it was football, but do you remember these articles from Releigh last year after we beat NCState asking, "where is Akron" and "what is a zip?".I'm really starting to think that you have to leave a scar on these media people before they remember you.
