  1. I think teams call the player in the first couple of rounds, when there is a lot more "show" to the draft. In the later rounds, the time limit for getting your picks in is much shorter, and thus, the team's banging their heads making sure that everyone agrees with who their best pick is at that particular point, and before that, on the phones working on trade possibilities. It's really hectic, and because it's so fast and so fluid, teams probably wont call a player ahead of time on the 2nd day.
  2. IT's all about the $$$$$More bowl games = more money.More money for the venues.More money for the TV stations and Cable channelsMore money from advertising.and who gets a cut of all that? NCAAOf course they are going to add more bowls. It doesn't matter if it waters down the meaning or prestige of a bowl appearence. It's all about the $$$
  3. Not to rub it in, because every school raises tuition atleast as much, if not more, but 10 years ago, when I went to akron, tuition costs (not counting housing, books, or other expenses) was $1600 a semester. Today that seems like pocket change.Soon will be gone the days of going to school from middle class kids going to college just to party and stave off responsibility.

The comedy resumes. Funny to watch someone struggle to rationalize away things by using avoidence of some facts and framing of false premise to explain away others. The 800lb gorilla in the room is Football. You can't avoid it. Stop trying.
  5. not to get off topic, but looking at the helmet in the old schedule, my first thought was, "I'm so glad someone finaly figured out that a capital letter A with horizontal streaks in it is NOT an inspiring logo"
  6. :lol:It's amazing what lengths people will go to be a-holes. You can't possibly be thinking anything else other than "watch me go on zipsnation and be an jerk about stuff"
  7. A couple good hurricanes and the Miami at Oxford will be the "real" on again.
  8. Either Akron wins, or they lose by more than two TDs. Like the Purdue game last year, where we were there until around middle of 3rd quarter, then, after a few mistakes, the air got let out in the 4th.
  9. Bowl the BowlBowl the Bowl
  10. It seems like a lot of people nationally have had the whole "Lebron's HS teammates are seniors this year" thing register in their mind.... For better or for worse.
  11. I don't think we will beat Penn State, but I dont think it's an impossibility. heh. Unfortunately, even with the winning attitude the program has now under JD, I still suspect that the primary goal will be not to get hurt, first, and winning second. If you think like coaches, last thing you want is guys out for part (or all) of the season.
  12. Having a minor in psychology, I should have recognized your comment as an insult to my intelligence. I guess I was hoping to give you enough credit to atleast sink the topic down to political debate, not pure mudslinging. Anyway, my comments weren't directed at you specifically. They were just my statement of opinion regarding what I view as sexism.
  13. "leftmost outskirts"Oh, and you are the one who is acting indignant. If you have nothing to be defensive about, why so upset? N'est pas?
  14. Whatever, if it makes you a sexist to say that men are better than women at basketball across the board, then i am indeed a sexist and you reside firmly on the leftmost outskirts of the bell curve. I don't care about your left/right bellcurve. I'm a libertarian who thinks republicans and democrats promote the liberal/conservative illusion for the purpose of making politics appear to be a legitimate battle of ideology (which it usually isn't).Regardless, if you want to come up with stats supporting your arguement either way, great. But if it's your opinion that men are just better at coaching basketball because they are men, then it's my opinion that your opinion is sexist.
  15. See, I would think that most of what remains of the feminist movement really are just the "feminazis" who want nothing more than cultural/political superiority for women, but then threads like this pop up and reminds us that sexism still exists.Yes, there ARE more differences between men and women than just what's between their legs. Duh. But if it makes you a feminist to think it's wrong to say men can coach better as a blanket statement, then consider me a 225lb feminist who doesn't lack testosterone.
  16. Okay*packs her bags*
  17. I don't care if you do that and build it out of gold (using Mike Brady's plans, ofcourse), and then build around it a Ca$ino, an Amusement park, a record size shopping mall, and hotels, it would still be bad location.
  18. Or the fact that he quoted Mike Brady...... A philosophical powerhouse
  19. hrmmm.... well.... Since I'm sure lawyers could make just as much of a case against you for a premeditated, planned, and conspiratorial effort to destory property over time as they could if you did it in one fell swoop, and the risk isn't necessarily greater, why not just be efficient about it. Anyone know where they can get some TNT for scottditzen?
  20. The Browns like Frye and everyone knows it (specially the other AFCN teams). But Trent Dilfer is an NFL veteran and they are just showing him a little bit of respect by not benching him outright before the preseason.
  21. There's only one thing to do about it. KICK SOME A$$ and wake some fukkers upOur part is to fill the freakin stands to the hilt. So, let's beat Penn and NCstate then. Am I being delusional? Fukk no! Why are they on the schedule if we can't win?
  22. It wont take 2 years to buy the land. It might take that long if they get into a legal fight and/or require eminent domain action, but I suspect almost all of the land is owned, or deals have been struck. That being said, you don't just drop in a stadium. Even if they broke ground this year, it doesn't necessarily get done in two years.
  23. if we keep adding teams, then I think we should treat each side of the MAC as seperate conferences when it comes to championships. In other words, both East and West should get their own bowl bids as champions, and not necessarily have to play each other for one bowl bid. Also, if we have 20 teams (twice as many teams as most conferences), why should our BBteams all go to the same conference tournament where only one champ results?
  24. Exactly! What's the friggin point of putting a stadium right on campus if it's going to be unused for 357 days in the year.
  25. It seats 307
