  1. Like the football team?
  2. the officials....again..! No one ever complains about the officiating when we win!NCAA Rule Book:Rule 2: Section 10: Officials' Duties Related to ConductArt. 1. Penalize unsportsmanlike conduct by a player, coach, substitute, team attendant or follower.A.R. 17. Who is responsible for behavior of spectators? RULING: The homemanagement or game committee, insofar as it can reasonably be expected to control the spectators, is responsible. The officials may call indirect technical fouls on either team when its supporters act in such a way as to interfere with the proper conduct of the game; such technical fouls do not count as team fouls.A good official does exactly what he did. You contact security and/or game management and have the offender removed rather than penalize the home team. In fact, a little trick we use is to have security just look at them as 90% of the time they behave because they think they will be removed. I hope everyone reading that remembers that if/when a T is issued for your stupidity. Until you get a whistle and a card and get into the position these guys are in to have the correct angle, you won't realize that 95% of the calls you disagree with are the correct call. Yes, we miss calls. And the players miss shots. All are human. Now let's focus on terrible freee throw shooting. If we made three more we wouldn't be having this discussion!
  3. ...and it was at The Museum too!
  4. ...but if they assumed you celebrated Christmas and wished you a Merry Christmas rather than Happy Holiday, it would be on the front page of the Beacon! As I stood in line to pick up my tickets tonight, I spoke to two different people wearing OSU gear to the game. All I said was "I expect that you will stop by the Sips Team Store to replace that OSU shirt with an Akron shirt before you leave tonight seeing as you are at an Akron game and not a Buckeyes game." Both gave me a very confused look.I was in Summit Mall recently and saw a kiosk selling automobile floor mats with college teams on them. Of course OSU was represented, but so was Ohio U and Miami (OH). I asked the guy working it if he had any Zips mats. When he replied 'no' I said, "You are in a mall in Akron, Ohio and you don't have any Akron mats to sell? And you have two of our rival schools for sale?" Again I got that dumb , confused look.
  5. anyone know what that really means?
  6. I've not had the hono (dishonor?) to attend prior to the game, but that sounds flat out embarrassing.
  7. Why is Romeo "suspended" for one game andin street clothes tonight?
  8. Posting from smartphone.I agree. my popcorn has more salt than the Dead Sea!I know it is finals week, but where are all of the people?Talked with the front office before tipoff. Ticket sales for friday are "aweful". Typical....
  9. Doesn't he have to sit out a year if he transfers?
  10. The refereeing was fine tonight. Trust me, I know. I did watch the game too. Don't take Frenchy's comments on officials EVER as fact. He is a bigger homer than any of us here! Besides, no one ever complains about the officiating when we win! Free throw shooting, rebounds, turnovers and oh, did I mention free throws?
  11. Very impressed with Coach Kest so far. Some of the loses this year were very close games too.
  12. It wasn't a complete joke last year. It was the best I've seen in 6-7 years of going to games. So things were changed, although everything was working. And now this year so far? Kind of a joke... I'm not talking about last year. I'm talking about the years before the Rowdies.
  13. Balki, that is HALARIOUS!!! You actually had me going for about 5 seconds until I realized the joke. Nice work!!!
  14. Amen! We are sending lots of Zips gear out of state as Christmas gifts. Some is requested, some isn't. One example is my wife's uncle is a UA grad, but is nuts about OSU. Is he getting a Buckeye's sweatshirt? Nope! He is getting Zips gear!
  15.
  16. sgm, PM me. I can get you in touch with the student who runs the ZipsVision board.BTW, where did you get video from??!
  17. What I am most surprised about is that the parents of the 5 children who didn't wear blue and gold and receive a candy bar didn't sue the district for discrimination and have you fired!!
  18. I agree partially with a lot of what many are saying here:Sure, it isn't hard to sign up and pick up a damn shirt. As for Balki's comments above: Um, the athletic department created the Rowdies into an official section/club AND they have given and will continue to give funding, therefore they get say in what happens. They could sell those seats for a lot of money and don't. So there needs to be a COMPROMISE here not cursing, drunken stupidness.I don't like seeing people turned away, but I don't have a problem when there is an overflow of allowing gold-shirted fans priority.Other than that, what is the big deal??! Oh, and Balki, learn the difference between a website and a message board.
  19. Overall, I agree with that. Keep it simple. I never was a fan of the gold shirt only rule, but other than that....just get your arsses into the seat and make sure you have no voice for 8:00 Calc the next day!!
  20. I'll apologize on behalf of Balki. Every so often he shows his ignorance. He obviously has a bit of an issue with following rules.Look, it's a club. Clubs have rules and some sort of organization. Overall what everyone is trying to do is positive. Balki doesn't like it because he would rather be a rude, obnoxious, drunk, cussing SOB. No one is asking/forcing you to join the Rowdies. You obviously don't like anything about them, you expressed your opinion, so let it go...... Now back on topic......I think the 16:00 min rule is a fair compromise. Give those who agreed to the rules and follow them, and if there are still empty seats, then fill them in with others. The drunk rule makes sense.Creating a section in GA isn't bad. As long as it doesn't pull steam away from the Rowdies in their infancy. Why not have a non-student/alumni informal area?Go Zips!
  21. ESn'N Full circle?
  22. Zen, I agree. the shopping promises to be more like the outdoor specialty and higher end shops and restaurants like up in Beachwood. They don't make mention of large department stores as anchors. Also, I really don't see the funding drasrtically crossing paths. The University is assumed to be going the route of private donations and corporate financing. I am sure they are also looking at the sale of muni bonds....all of which don't necessary financially burden the public. Plus, they can't realiztically expect to tax a public and get support from a public who doesn't even come the games!
  23. Regardless of whether we would or would not have beat UALR, do you really think we would have beaten TTECH?? We would still be 6-1!!!Look, it starts here. Commit to bringing more people to each home game with you. Be a pain in their ass and hound them with messages to get them to keep going with you. Keep adding people. Encourage them to bring someone. WE have to get it going as well. The front office has an uphill battle and I am quite sure they are working on it every day. Let me give you an example of what we are up against:I was at EJ recently for a show. The show was sponsored by a local radio station. The program director came out to introduce the speaker and rev up the crowd. He made a joke that he could get the crowd going by only speaking two letters. He then yelled "O - H!" and of course 3,000+ yelled back "I - O!". I then yelled "GO ZIPS!" and was laughed at by the people around me. It is sad that a local radio producer can give the battle cry for a D-1 Rival IN OUR OWN "house"! But this happens. Until we can force people to realize that it is a great, exciting product on the court in Akron, they won't do it on their own!
