Winning is what does it. This town hasn't had a consistent winner for a VERY long time. We have to be good a be good for a while before we will see more attendance figures. In my last two podcasts I keep saying we should have at least 20,000 butts in the seat. I think that is reasonable, but we are right around 16 - 17k. I try to do my part and bring (sometimes drag) people with me to games.Think about this: in a town like Columbus, they have had winners for so long, it is part of the culture. In Akron it is not part of the culture yet. You can do whatever gimmick you want to get them out, but the team has to be good AND consistent on the field.

And I was referring to the TAILGATING before the game

...but, at this University, student attendance is in the minority. More fans from the community come to the games than students. Loot at the tailgating attendance. There aren't more than 1,000 people there. I agree it would be better for you and me since we tailgate, but the other 14,000+ people don't. And they hopefully would come with the family which means more ticket sales. My wife and young son stayed home Saturday just because of the temperature. That would have been 2 more ticket sales if it was a 1PM game. Plus, getting students out at 10Am shouldn't be much of an issue.... as long as you have beer!

Here is a good article in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette about the number of recruits from the WPIAL playing in the MAC. It specifically mentions Luke Getsy and Matt Rogers.

He was 5'10" and 160 lbs.!!! It was a long shot for him to even make a team. Props to him for doing it, but no coach can be 100%. Hindisght is a big advantage on this one.

It was an architectural firm, but they are only supposed to be concepts, not the actual designs. I expect that several renderings will be produced. The fact that they are approaching it with an open mind is cool. Remember, one of the options being explored, although highly unlikely, will be a domed stadium allowing basketball to have a new home. :blink:

Yep. I think TWC does this more as community support and less for ratings/money otherwise they wouldn't be carrying a Comcast feed. If the 'favor' becomes too much of a pain, they won't continue to do it IMO.

Man, cool it! We don't have a TV network like OSU does. There will be bugs. Just be happy that they are making an attempt to carry the game. If enough people complain like you they will probably say the hell with it if it is too much trouble.Just talked to TWC again. Nothing yet, but I made the suggestion to put a crawl across the top of the screen. They said it is going up now.They said they are still working on the problem. I told them not to give up!

Same here. Can't get it online. Says the link will be available at game time. IT IS GAME TIME!!! I called TWC and did the thing were they call me back rather than wait on hold. The wait time was 16-21 mminutes at 1:08PM. Still waiting!

I bet that licensing policy has loosened a bit. The Fear the Roo stuff is still selling well and the U would be stupid not to allow places to sell. I ask for Zips gear every year as ideas for birthday gifts. No one in my family except my wife will buy it because they 1) don't want to take the time to find the needle-in-a-haystack storeand 2) the hours are terrible for anyone who works normal day job hours!
