How is it that WMU was able to schedule winnable OOC B1G games against Northwestern and Illinois while we got Wisky?
Here's a Hustle Belt article about Old Dominion's "road map" to success.
"Instead of the body bag games for a payday, they scheduled regional games on a 2-for-1 against teams like Virginia Tech, NC State, North Carolina, and Wake Forest."
I like that strategy. Or at least quit scheduling games where we're simply lambs to the slaughter. Schedule more along the lines of Western Michigan, who played winnable B1G games this year against Northwestern and Illinois, while we played Wisconsin.
Next year we play at Penn State and the following year we play at Nebraska. Two very difficult places to play.
We are, however, set up for success in 2019, where our OOC schedule is presently @ Illinois, and then at home -vs- Troy and UAB. That's more like it.
But we don't have a WMU-type yellow brick road to glory till then.
