  1. Aww, I'm disappointed Shane Shead is transferring. I was looking forward to watching him get some reps as he was an occasional visitor and contributor to ZipsNation. Shane, if the rumor of your transfer is true, then we all wish you the best of luck! We sincerely hope you wind up at a school where you get a good education, enjoy yourself and get a lot of PT! Good luck, Shane!
  2. Yeah, definitely big props to the Captain! I love ZipsNation but I must say that my very favorite aspect of ZN is all the recruiting information available here, largely made available by CK! Thanks again!(Rasor does a great job covering recruiting on his blog too!)
  3. KD - After traveling to so many basketball venues, what sort of venue would you eventually like to see in Akron. What sort of arena would you consider appropriate and ideal for Akron? Compare it to an existing venue - EMU's Convocation Center? Rhode Island's Ryan Center? Temple's Liacouras Center?
  4. that's really an impressive feat. it's hard enough to reach 1 or 2, but to reach all 4? wow! makes me look forward to seeing him play here in a couple weeks. You'll really enjoy watching Nate play if you have a bit of a sense of humor. He is the textbook definition of "Blue Collar Player." He's not pretty to watch. At all. In fact, it is usually quite ugly. His movement is often quite awkward. But he is very skilled, always gives 100% and by the end of the evening he usually has a decent, if not spectacular stat line.
  5. Can't really hit the jackpot with Hargrave Military Academy this year. They landed four 3-star recruits and one 4-star recruit from that school. Their other 3-star recruit is Jeff Walker, the 6-4 WR from Coventry (that the Zips didn't appear interested in.)I'm still crossing my fingers that we land Christopher Henderson. That would put our class on top - according to the Rivals rankings.
  6. Now, I don't want to get too carried away, but man, it looks as if we are FINALLY going to have a DEEP and stout D-Line! Defensive Tackles:Ryan Bain 6'2" 300Phil Tonga 6'4" 285Chris Henderson 6'3" 313Joe Rash 6'2" 265Dan Marcoux 6'3" 275Wallace Pendelton 6'1" 285Chad Maynard 6'1" 305James Harvey 6'4" 280Cowles Stewart 6'1" 290Defensive Ends:Hasan Hazime 6'5" 260Shawn Lemmon 6'2" 220Almondo Sewell 6'1" 260Shane Shead 6'4" 240Deni Odofin 6'3" 230I'm probably missing a player or two.Man, if we're not running a 4-3 next season then I'm going to be absolutely perplexed!
  7. Aha! This just in. Check out Christopher Henderson's bio on Rivals. It seems as if Akron is his only scholly at this point - either Pitt decided to go in another direction or finally saw the writing on the wall that Henderson was coming to Akron? However, what perplexes me is, how is Akron Henderson's only offer when he is a 4-star former USC recruit? Is there more to the story here?http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewp...sp?pr_key=87712
  8. Well, it's a good thing that Mr. X is a box player and not a DB. We need more muscle up front. And we need to utilize that muscle with a 4-3 scheme.
  9. So, did they announce who our opponent is going to be?
  10. I can't make it but this is a good idea. Have fun!Oh, and maybe someone could post the videos of our recruits online somewhere? YouTube?
  11. It's almost 8:00 p.m. Are you still out there CK?!
  12. This is now a little off-topic, but something is definitely wrong with midwest football. Our teams are slow and boring to watch. The Big 11 is even more painful to watch than the MAC, IMHO.
  13. Wow, that is a HUGE high school team! Rivals doesn't have any bio on Cameron. However, his videos look like he's got some offense. He's probably still growing into his 6-9 body.
  14. Ha! I feel ya! Unfortunately, that is definitely a quote from a truly experienced Zips fan!
  15. I enjoy following the Rivals * ratings and this class does have 5 - 3* players, which is pretty good for a UA class. However, I'm with Buckzip in being a bit underwhelmed by this year's class. With that beautiful new stadium going up I was anticipating our verbals list to flesh out much more quickly than it did this year and for us to possibly land a 4* player.Speaking of 4* players, Rivals still has DT Christopher Henderson as unverballed (is that a word?). Has anyone heard anything about this guy's status? He's a 6-2, 300 lb. DT who has only been offered by Pitt and us.Also, I notice that Phil Tonga now is a 3* recruit. Umm, help me out here, but Rivals just recently bumped him up a * or ** in the last few days, right?
  16. According to his statements on Rivals he never commited here to begin with. He said it was a mistake.a mistake? What's that supposed to mean? That's what I was wondering; a mistake on his part for verballing too soon, or simply a mistake or computer glitch on Rivals part? He's still listed on Akron's verbal commitment list. I hope this doesn't become another Rivals glitch like the infamous Jarvis Givens saga.
  17. In basketball? Who would that have been?
  18. I was thinking the same thing about the Beacon Journal.Ooooooooooh!
  19. The ABJ has reported that CVCA's John Pettigrew verballed to BGSU.http://www.ohio.com/sports/38570464.htmlI wish JP well. However, I never got the vibe that Akron was pursuing him all that hard.
  20. I'm not getting in on this argument here, but if you guys want to see something that's rather depressing, go to Rivals and check out the Conference USA recruiting classes. As far as star-ratings go, their classes are absolutely blowing ours out of the water.
  21. I hope we can keep the rivalry with YSU going. I really enjoy the NEOhio rivalries - YSU, CSU and Can't - they're always so intense! The games are fun, meaningful and always worth the price of a ticket. Hopefully we can get CSU back on the schedule very soon.
  22. What did Geno say about Al Fisher? Fisher is a fantastic player. Coming into the season I thought he was going to be one of the best PG's in the country. But he does really seem to be struggling. Did Q make that big of a difference in Fisher's game as well?
  23. GameChanger, did you and you family have a fun time this past Saturday?!
  24. There is a good shot (#9) of Mclanahan (sp?) where you can tell how muscular he is. How tall is he? 6'4"? He's got a great build for a frosh and is going to be a good one. Also, there is a great sequence of Humpty (also a very muscular guard) celebrating after a big 3 toward the end of the game.
