I'm watching the broadcast but I don't like posting during the game action. Idk, I think that Valpo loss took a lot of steam out of the sails of we die hard fans. That was a truly pathetic showing. I think that put in our minds the possibility that we aren't that good, it's simply that the MAC is that bad.McClanahan has hit some tough shots tonight.Go Zips!

The PD article on Mack (the same one that gives him credit for the fieldhouse, so I can't be sure of the accuracy) says we're renovating the JAR. Maybe we're removing the corners to give the upper section a rounded look. Maybe we're removing the track (it causes the biggest amounts of complaints) and having the seating go all the way up. I have no idea what it could be, but I know that it's supposedly going to start very shortly after this basketball season is finished, which is good timing. Renovated JAR + Zeke = very good year for basketball.I sure hope a renovated JAR is merely considered a band-aid and not the final solution to the arena problem. -
Is he eligible to practice now?

I completely understand UA wanting to christen the stadium with a Zips' game. I'm all for that, of course. But I'd also love to see as many high school games played in the Info as possible. Friday night games? Naturally. Thursday night games? Why not?! Saturday games when the Zips are on the road? Yes! The more folks we get into the Info and onto our campus the better! We need to do anything to increase the expose of UA and bring the general public's perception up-to-date as to what a gorgeous campus we now have! I'll bet we could win a lot of new Zips' fans that way.But it's a shame St.V/M - Hoban couldn't just move their game back ONE week?!?! They could have been the first high school game in The Info. That just seems too obvious and logical, so there must be another reason(s) for them not simply scheduling the game one week later?

Well this is a relief then, because for the past month I've been worried that the upper decks were simply going to resemble the bleachers at my high school stadium, only on a much larger scale. I was definitely concerned it was going to be cheesy - especially with cups, hotdogs, popcorn & whatnot dropping into the concourse from above.

Thanks Timmyboy!

These are the sweetest, sickest shoes I've ever seen. I am going to purchase more than one pair. LeBron's the man. I've also looked at that picture on the outside heel. Look at it again and tell me if you don't think it looks like the top of the clock tower of Canal Park. Though, of course, news of a new arena would make me one of the happiest people on earth!

I can hardly wait till he's hear.

So if this does work out with Harris, how do things shake down with hiring both Montgomery and Harris for Offensive positions? I'm a bit confused.
-
Wow, these are two potentially fantastic hires! The Zips are the soon-to-be Boise State of the MAC! It's thrilling that coaches of this caliber recognize our competitive advantage here @ UA and want to get on & conduct this train!

Definitely awesome. This illustrates why, as a Zips's fan, I think it'd be a bad move to join the Big East. A player like Zeke, added to the talent currently on the roster, can make us THE power in the MAC. Add this guy and we'd be untouchable. In the Big East we'd be just another contender. I'd much rather become the next Boise State of the WAC, Memphis of C-USA, Butler of the Horizon League or Xavier of the A-10. (Boise State of the WAC in football, of course, but you know what I'm saying.)

At this point in time we may as well look for another redshirt for Ronnie, wouldn't you guys agree? We've got 4 strong guards (albeit Humpty and McClanahan are true freshmen) and a medical redshirt would make Ronnie a senior along w/ Zeke (which was the drawback of burning McClanahan's redshirt).
-
Definitely. I had made up my mind to drop the ABJ but the coverage has been so good that now I'm definitely (and happily) going to have to renew my subscription.
-
Wow, not that I'm a coach or talent evaluator, but with Dale Martin and DeVoe Torrence ready to carry the rock the RB position is not giving me sleepless nights.

Wow, what horrible news. Our condolences and prayers are with you and your family, Adam.

Final Notes from Wednesday Night @ OBC

It is not etched in stone, but SDSU was the odds-on favorite as of late last week.Contracts probably the holdup for that game, but word came from Coach Ferri so its very credible. Just wondered- whats everyone elses opinion on playing YSU?? Yes theyre 1AA but they would bring fans, name recognition, and we do have a history with them. Lets not forget we payed a reported $300,000.00 tp bring in N TX a couple years ago to fill the schedule, and they brought maybe 6 fans with them and "0" local interest. Sorry to hear about the loss of the Steiner family ( our newest local recruit)YSU's AD won't schedule us with out a return game. We're not going to play there due to MAC conference rules, so they won't play here. I would gladly thump them in front of several thousand of their own fans at the Info, but it won't get scheduled. That's a shame because you can count me as one who would like to see this game played. Who do they think they are? They're D-1AA, they're not allowed to demand a return game! So I guess I agree with not scheduling them; there's no way a D-1 school should play on the road at a D-1AA. That's a one-way street. -
True. He's now more emotionally mature and stable than 90% of NBA players!

Aww, I'm disappointed Shane Shead is transferring. I was looking forward to watching him get some reps as he was an occasional visitor and contributor to ZipsNation. Shane, if the rumor of your transfer is true, then we all wish you the best of luck! We sincerely hope you wind up at a school where you get a good education, enjoy yourself and get a lot of PT! Good luck, Shane!

Yeah, definitely big props to the Captain! I love ZipsNation but I must say that my very favorite aspect of ZN is all the recruiting information available here, largely made available by CK! Thanks again!(Rasor does a great job covering recruiting on his blog too!)

KD - After traveling to so many basketball venues, what sort of venue would you eventually like to see in Akron. What sort of arena would you consider appropriate and ideal for Akron? Compare it to an existing venue - EMU's Convocation Center? Rhode Island's Ryan Center? Temple's Liacouras Center?
-
that's really an impressive feat. it's hard enough to reach 1 or 2, but to reach all 4? wow! makes me look forward to seeing him play here in a couple weeks. You'll really enjoy watching Nate play if you have a bit of a sense of humor. He is the textbook definition of "Blue Collar Player." He's not pretty to watch. At all. In fact, it is usually quite ugly. His movement is often quite awkward. But he is very skilled, always gives 100% and by the end of the evening he usually has a decent, if not spectacular stat line.

Can't really hit the jackpot with Hargrave Military Academy this year. They landed four 3-star recruits and one 4-star recruit from that school. Their other 3-star recruit is Jeff Walker, the 6-4 WR from Coventry (that the Zips didn't appear interested in.)I'm still crossing my fingers that we land Christopher Henderson. That would put our class on top - according to the Rivals rankings.
