The University of Akron Athletic Department has a limited number of $5 tickets available for the football game against Can't State this Saturday. Tickets will go on sale Wednesday, September 27 at 9:00 am at the Rhodes Arena Ticket Office. Tickets will also be sold Thursday in the Student Union from 11:00 to 2:00 pm. Come out and help cheer your Zips to victory.

Dear AK-ROWDIES members,One behalf of the executive board and members of the Department of Athletics staff, we would like to thank you for your attendance and support of Zips athletics teams thus far. If Saturday is any indication of the future, the 2006-2007 academic year will be the biggest one yet for the AK-ROWDIES. Over 275 new members have signed up thus far and roughly 190 old members have signed up again for the 2006-2007 AK-ROWDIES. This week, there will be two additional opportunities for old and prospective members to become an official AK-ROWDIES member. On Friday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, representatives from the executive board will have a registration table setup outside of the James A. Rhoades arena with membership applications and information for prospective and old members. On Sunday, the AK-ROWDIES will have their first ever “T-Shirt Swap” event. The first 150 AK-ROWDIES to bring a shirt from another institution will have the opportunity to trade it in for an exclusive Zips t-shirt. Proceeds from this event will go towards Goodwill and we encourage members to bring any additional clothing items they no longer wear. Only one t-shirt will be given to each member that donates articles of clothing. If you have additional clothing items to donate it is greatly appreciated. Remember that old members can sign up for free, but you MUST SIGN UP AGAIN in order to be considered an official member. New members can sign up for the low cost of only $10.00.On a sadder not, AK-ROWDIES President and Co-founder Jason Smith has decided to step down from his active duties. Any members interested running for the President position or helping out with AK-ROWDIES operations during the 2006-2007 academic year are encouraged to contact Jason at his email address jms86@uakron.edu. 1:00 AM AND can't still sucks

What were your thoughts on the Roo Zoo. What did you like? What did you dislike?It was a nice thing to see the students all together and pumped up. It brought a great smile to my face to see the fans going wild and crazy. I like the idea of being behind the opposiing teams bench. It gives you guys a great chance to get into the other teams head. I know you crazy kids that's right up your alley. The Roo Zoo is place where you the AK-ROWDIES come together. I want to make sure that is cleared up. The AK-ROWDIES live!!! They were around last year, they will be around and stronger than ever this year. I will post when the next date you can sign up if you haven't yet.On a scale 1- 10 I give the Roo Zoo a 8.5. We need to find ways to heckel the other team more and come up with a bunch of differant cheers. I like the fact that the band students and cheerleaders worked together to make the game a great one. We need to mix it up with some different cheers and need to ride the other team. Trust me I heard you guys last yearat the basketball games and you wode the other team so bad. I hope that contunies with every sport.Good job studentsSuit up were going hutting .............

Remember, this Saturday, September 23 your University of Akron Zips Football team will host the Mean Green of North Texas University. Kick-off time is scheduled for 6:00pm. The first 1,000 students to the game will receive a “Free T-shirt”. There will be fireworks after the game!!!!!

Iam sure we can get a group of 200 or so to go in on a can't state hutting group. Thats a good group but we need something more this is big. The duck calls are great but we need more ideas to take this thing to the next level. Iam sure we all have remember the great work the god father did. We dont want them to think their pranking is done just because he is gone. Keep the great ideas coming.

Good call does any on have any hook ups where we could get some cheap duck calls and things of that nature? I will talk to the AK-ROWDIES board and see what they think. Are you concerned about depth at the offensive tackle spot? "I think Chris Auletta, John Shaw and Levi Brown give us three tackles. A couple of those young kids will come along. It is like putting words in my mouth about being concerned. We have to practice and play. We have to prove some things that we can do some things. That is true to every year, that there is always something that you are not comfortable with and that you are going to have to work your way through it and just hope it doesn’t hurt you early. I think we are going to have a pretty good offensive line before it is all over. If you ask me if we are going to be pretty good Saturday against Akron? I am nervous. I am nervous because Akron does some things that are going to be a big problem for us. I think Akron, defensively, is a really good football team. Yes, I am concerned in that sense, but I am not concerned in the sense that we don’t have this or that. We have a good, young squad and eventually is going to be a good football team. Whether we are good this coming Saturday, we will find out". -Joe PaternoPeople have called me dumb and crazy but the more and more I read I think the Zips are coming out on top in this one 27 - 24. This is going to be a huge building phase for the Zips. If I was a Zips football coach I would pull the whole team into the field house Thursday night and have them watch the Marshall come back and Last years MAC Championship game. No one thought those were possible. But look who's wearing the Mac Ring. I think the heart break kids are back and going to break Penn States heart's in less then three days!! I watched the Penn State preview show the other night and the team would brake on National Champs on three. Zippy is a girl, Only Female Roos have the pouch so yes Zippy is a girl. One of a limited number as I recall.

Wow, is all I can say about this past year In Zip sports. You seen that crazy Roo here there and almost everwhere. You learned to fear the roo and win a mac title too. Best of all you got a bit rowdy and droped the poor roo on her head. So what is next for Zippy? The ball is in your hands will you score a touchdown or be intersepted? Please list anything you would like to see this coming year from Zippy. If you had some things you liked or did not like from the past season please post them?Go Zips P.S.

iam there I expect a better student section. Kinda sad at the turn out today, Make sure youu guys sit together.
